See https://en.wikipedia.org/Talk:Evil_eye#The_evil_eye_in_Christianity. If this stuff is gonna be restored, it should be with secondary sources supporting the idea of a connection. undo

We are literally citing a work of *fiction* here, and inferring with no non-fiction source at all that the superstitions of one (fictional) group of Romanian peasants in the 1890s are broadly representative of "folk Christianity" today in Europe. Clearly an unreasonable inference. If this is a real folk Christian belief (I am skeptical of this), find a non-fiction source that says so. undo

"أعوذ بكلمات الله التامات من شر ما خلق", has many hits on Google unrelated to evil eye; probably shouldn't represent as ritual *specifically* to ward off eye. (I make no judgment, as not qualified to, on reliability of source or whether we should be scoping this to a particular sect but maybe issue there too) undo Tag: Undo

Citation doesn't support this & offers weak evidence to the contrary (dating the first known amulets to protect against the eye to 3300BC in Syria, which AIUI is after the end of prehistory). Furthermore, the edit by User:Dan Palraz that first added the claim, https://en.wikipedia.org/search/?title=Evil_eye&diff=prev&oldid=1182273749, was pretty outrageous, framing the curse as real and more ancient than prehistory, with no source. undo
