			The '''Asia/Oceania Zone''' was one of the three zones of the regional Davis Cup competition in 1998.
	The Group IV tournament was held February 9-15, in ], ], on hard courts. The seven teams played a round-robin tournament, and the top two finishers were promoted to Group III for 1999.<ref name=Davis>{{cite web\|url=http://www.daviscup.com/en/teams/teams-a-to-z.aspx\|title=Reconstructed from Davis Cup Nation-by-Nation Historical Records}}</ref>

			In the Asia/Oceania Zone there were four different tiers, called groups, in which teams competed against each other to advance to the upper tier. The top two teams in Group IV advanced to the Asia/Oceania Zone Group III in 1999. All other teams remained in Group IV.
	The tournament marked the return of Iraq to Davis Cup competition after a seven-year absence. Iraq had previously participated in only three ties, from 1988 to 1990.

The Asia/Oceania Zone was one of the three zones of the regional Davis Cup competition in 1998.

In the Asia/Oceania Zone there were four different tiers, called groups, in which teams competed against each other to advance to the upper tier. The top two teams in Group IV advanced to the Asia/Oceania Zone Group III in 1999. All other teams remained in Group IV.
