Homeopathic Materia Medica is a main resource of information for homeopathic remedies and tool, which is used in the process of discovering the case remedy needed to do a prescription.
Materia Medica is a compendium - it describes homeopathic remedies. But there are several types of homeopathic materia medica available: overall, huge, small, for emergency remedies, etc. Remedies are portrayed in their symptomatics, exemplified with cases, psychologically described as (human and even homeopathic) types.
MM is a reference book used together with the repertory by the homeopath in his daily practice.
Although MM are alone written by concrete authors, with the name MM is also referred the whole picture and knowledge of homeopathic remedies. It is widely accepted and understood as possible and even needed for a homeopath to have knowledge and view over at least about two hundred (200) most common homeopathic remedies' materia medica.
In homeopathic prescription classically MM is used after work with the repertory, i.e. after the repertorisation. Then MM confines the repertorisation results.
Materia Medica is a term used by the same beginning of medicine - in ancient Greek times.
