Toprak was born in Turkey and joined the insurgency during the ]. After the Americans left Iraq he moved his operations to Syria where he operated with and was leader of the ].

In September of 2014 President Obama decided to use air strikes in Syrian territory to attack the ]. During these strikes Toprak was killed he left behind five children at his home in the western Turkish province of Bursa.<ref name= "Agence France-Presse p.
