== "the precise location of their graves is lost" - solution ==

Speaking as one who has visited Hereford Cemetery, I would suggest the joint grave of the girls who died in the fire may be lost to sight (if no surviving memorial was put up) but it could and should be findable. The burial registers will if kept according to detail laid down in law, indicate the plot numbers which will tie in with a specific location in the cemetery. Municipal cemeteries are normally divided into numbered or lettered sections, with further subdivisions that are mapped. As far as I know (I am not local) no used part of the cemetery has been alienated (it is normally unused portions of cemeteries that are). Note that in UK we do not have the continental practice of reclaiming graves and removing remains after a number of years.] (]) 06:09, 8 September 2023 (UTC)
