'''Pakistan Occupied Kashmir''' ('''PoK''' or '''POK''') is the name given by ] to a portion of ] controlled by ] and ]. It is also refered to as Azad Kashmir, which in Urdu means "Free Kashmir". After the partition of undivided India into India and Pakistan, the ] who had an option of either joining India or Pakistan, chose to join the Indian Republic, however what is not told to the world is that there were states within India which wanted to join Pakistan, and were not allowed. One of these states was Hyderabad, which today is in India. Quite the contradiction; regardless when decision was made on what country should take what state, it was decided that majority Muslim states would go to Pakistan and majority Hindu states would go to India. Kashmir has been ever since 1947 a majority Muslim state which means it belongs to Pakistan. Ater 1947, Indian army went into Kashmir and invaded it well knowing the majority of the people did not want to (and still do to this day) not want to be apart of India. The area that was left under Pakistani control after the 1947 ] came to be known as Azad Kashmir.
