Lena Merhej is a German-Lebanese artist. A designer by training, she studied at the American University in Beirut and the Parsons School of Design. She then completed her doctorate on Lebanese comics from Jacobs University in Germany.
She has worked prolifically as a children's book illustrator and comicbook artist, and won many awards for her work. She is co-founder of the Samandal collective of Lebanese comic artists. Her graphic novel Yoghurt and Jam was nominated for the Banipal Prize.
