Mark Evan Jones (born January 16, 1962) is an American businessman, investor, and philanthropist. He is co-founder and executive chairman of Goosehead Insurance, a Texas-based insurance brokerage, and CEO of N5B Capital, the investment arm of the Jones family. Known for his philanthropic contributions, Jones and his wife, Robyn, notably donated $101 million to Montana State University, which renamed its College of Nursing in their honor.

Career

Jones began his professional career in 1985 at Clarkson Gordon (now part of Ernst & Young) in their Calgary office, focusing on audit and mergers and acquisitions. He joined Bain & Company in Boston in 1990 as part of his MBA internship and continued full-time upon graduation. He became a partner in 1996 and was promoted to Director (senior partner) in 2001.

In 2003, Jones co-founded Goosehead Insurance with Robyn Jones. Under his leadership, the company grew significantly, going public on the NASDAQ in 2018 with its IPO recognized as one of the most successful of the year. Jones served as CEO from inception until July 2024, when he transitioned to Executive Chairman. In addition to his work with Goosehead, Jones is CEO of N5B Capital, the family’s investment arm.

In 2021, Mark and Robyn Jones acquired over 125,000 acres of timberland West of Kalispell, Montana, now known as Flathead Ridge Ranch. In 2022, the couple was noted in the Forbes list of Immigrant billionaires with a net worth at that time of over $1.8 billion.

Philanthropy

Mark and Robyn Jones have been prominent philanthropists, especially in Montana, where they have ties to the Flathead Valley region. In 2021, the couple donated $101 million to Montana State University’s College of Nursing, the largest private gift in the university’s history and the largest donation ever to a nursing school in the United States. In recognition, the college was renamed the Mark and Robyn Jones College of Nursing.  Jones refers to the donation as a philanthropic investment designed to eliminate the shortage of nurses serving Montana by 2030.

Jones and his wife have also supported various conservation efforts, public safety, and educational initiatives across Montana.
