** - This paper proposes an ontology-driven approach to KG construction using LLMs where competency questions guide ontology creation and relation extraction, leveraging Wikidata for semantic consistency. A scalable pipeline minimizes human effort while producing high-quality, interpretable KGs interoperable with Wikidata for knowledge base expansion. By Xiaohan Feng, Xixin Wu & Helen Meng (2024).
** - Proposes a Visual Question Answering (VQA) model that integrates external knowledge from Wikidata to address complex open-domain questions by combining image, question, and knowledge modalities. Evaluated on the VQAv2 dataset, the model outperforms prior state-of-the-art approaches, demonstrating improved reasoning and accuracy (Koshti et al., 2024).
* Videos: (arabic) - Sparql SERVICE clause gives access to additional data such as labels via wikibase:label, interaction with MediaWiki APIs using wikibase:mwapi, and integration of data from subgraphs (such as the main graph and the scholarly articles graph). Integration of data from external SPARQL endpoints such as DBpedia.

''' Tool of the week '''
* - is a Microsoft Edge browser extension that creates web links for matching inner HTML text based on a regex format of Q\d+ which is the format of a Wikidata Entity ID. ()

''' Other Noteworthy Stuff '''
* - The Technische Informationsbibliothek (TIB) located in Hannover has a research position open for someone interested in the deployment, administration and maintenance of open source knowledge management software such as Mediawiki, Wikibase and OpenRefine as part of the NFDI4Culture partnership within the OSL.

The Women in Red Barnstar
For keeping an eagle eye on Humaniki and regularly updating key statistics on the main Women in Red page.--Ipigott (talk) 13:50, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
Thank you kindly, @Ipigott. As a matter of fact, I am talking about WiR statistics and Humaniki later today in Adelaide. Also, when the time comes, I will start reporting them as 19.99x, instead of rounding to two decimals, as they move towards 20%.

Nomination of Barbara Nowak for deletion

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Barbara Nowak is suitable for inclusion in Misplaced Pages according to Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Barbara Nowak until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article until the discussion has finished.

Pages about women

Hi. I just discovered you after your edit to the page I wrote on Emily Belle Freeman. I think it's really cool that you focus on writing articles about women.

I just wrote another article about a woman since the prior article about her was deleted six years ago, allegedly due to not being notable. I put almost 30 sources on the new article to establish her notability. I'd be interested in any feedback you have about the article: Margaret D. Nadauld.

Kind regards, Davemc0 (talk) 02:52, 6 December 2024 (UTC)

Could you please help me avoid deletion of this woman's article?

Could I please get your help? Someone has nominated the article Margaret D. Nadauld for deletion, claiming that Nadauld is not notable. It was the same person who did it 8 years ago. I'd appreciate if you could support keeping it. See the talk page on that article for my arguments why she's notable, or peruse the article's 25+ references yourself. Personally, I believe the person who proposed deletion deserves a trout for claiming that she's not notable, given the contents of those sources. Davemc0 (talk) 16:42, 6 December 2024 (UTC)

Kristina Romanova, article expansion

Hello Oronsay, hope you are well. Given your active participation on Wiki Project Women and Wiki Project Women in Business, I'd be grateful for your review of my suggested expansions/additions to Kristina Romanova's BLP. While she is a former model, much of her current work as a CEO and business executive is undocumented in her article. I work for Aman and have declared my affiliation so I can't make these changes without Wiki approval. If you think my suggestions are valid, I can take the time to implement. Thank you in advance for your feedback, Astraea2024 (talk) 15:51, 19 December 2024 (UTC)

Short description on Annilese Miskimmon

Hi Oronsay -- Thanks for all you do on women's bios -- just a quick note on this one, should the short description for someone from Northern Ireland be summarised as "Irish"? -- it's part of the UK, not the Republic of Ireland. In similar cases with England/Scotland/Wales I tend to go with British in the capsule wherever I feel it is justified, but in this case the subject clearly identifies as Northern Irish. Cheers, Espresso Addict (talk) 06:57, 23 December 2024 (UTC)

@Espresso Addict: Thanks for your query. I take your point and have amended to Northern Irish in the short description and on Wikidata. Her Talk page is also now created, including the Northern Irish project, but please add the relevant WiR event there. Oronsay (talk) 17:35, 23 December 2024 (UTC)
Thanks -- I tend not to bother with the talk page until I've finished the article -- still plodding through all the heaps of reviews. Cheers, Espresso Addict (talk) 17:38, 23 December 2024 (UTC)

Tool of the week

  • Dungeon Of Knowledge - is a roguelike game with Items generated from Wikidata that lets you crawl through the Dungeon of Knowledge in a classic ASCII interface. (toot) (blog)

Other Noteworthy Stuff

  • Zita Ursula Zage has joined the Software Communication team (SCoT) at Wikimedia Deutschland as an intern until the end of June 2025. Welcome Zita!
  • VIAF (cf. Q54919 and P214) underwent a relevant change of interface on January 10; the way of visualizing clusters in JSON format has changed in comparison with present OCLC documentation and e.g. http://viaf.org/viaf/102333412/viaf.json doesn't work anymore; this broke most or all Wikidata gadgets using VIAF data; in the absence of official communications from OCLC, developers are trying to understand if the new VIAF interface is stable before changing their gadgets accordingly
