Unprotect Allegations of apartheid

...or semi-protect, but this protection has been on for 2 weeks now, an record breaking amount of time for full protection of a page not under vandal protection. Be advised also that the page is currently subjected to an ArbCom proceeding. Thanks!--Cerejota 06:06, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

Akiva Tatz

Y do you ask? Having books listed on Amazon is not a claim to notability at all; anyone can do it. If you have third party sources which document this subject in an encyclopedic fashion, please add them as the page has been restored in hopes that this can be expanded to demonstrate notability. Thank you, Can't sleep, clown will eat me 19:47, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

I'm not really interested in comparing track records, that's pointless.  ;-) I have searched, and could not find anything (on-line) that qualified as a reliable source for this article. If you say this person is notable, I trust you. Can't sleep, clown will eat me 19:56, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
I don't know what else to make of it. Is he known in another language perhaps? Can't sleep, clown will eat me 20:05, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

Unprotect Urban apartheid

Could you please unprotect Urban apartheid. It's been two weeks and things have been quiet on both Talk:Urban apartheid and Talk:Allegations of apartheid. I've already made an unprotection request at WP:RPP but I was told to ask you to unprotect instead. Lothar of the Hill People 01:34, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

Give me a minute please

You just deleted a page a couple of minutes after I created it. You've gotta give me a minute to finish off the page before you blow the thing away!

LOLCODE

The article was deleted on AfD available at Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Lolcode. Please do not recreate. -- Y not? 06:45, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

A different article, now rewritten. A second AfD might have been warranted, but I strongly disagree with your decision to delete this one based solely on the other's AfD. The closing admin from the initial AfD has stated: "Restore. I was the admin who closed the AfD as delete, and I'm satisfied that the primary concern of the AfD -- lack of reliable sources -- has been addressed, and a verifiable article can now be written. --Krimpet 04:15, 19 August 2007 (UTC)" in response to a new DRV opened up after several new sources came to light, including at least one print press source. Thích Quảng Đức

Hi Y. I noticed you removed diacritics from title Thích Quảng Đức. Your reason was "other vietnamese article names do not have diacritics". I wouldn't discuss this was a good reason or not but I have to say that I disagree with you about this. There are many other articles' names with diacritics, like Xuân Diệu, Nguyễn Nhật Ánh, Mỹ Tho, Nguyễn Thuyên. So it goes. In fact, Vietnamese names with diacritics or not is an issue that has been discussed for some times but still no consensus reaches. You can see the discussions here and here. In Thich Quang Duc, a requested move was proposed and almost all of editors opposed moving. Thus I suggest you shouldn't move any more such pages until consensus is made. @pple 08:54, 25 August 2007 (UTC)

oops... 'be bold' gone awry. please revert as needed -- Y not? 01:19, 26 August 2007 (UTC)

Speedy Deletion: Web Analytics Association

Speedy deletion was given reason G11 (exists only to promote a company or service). The article had previously been tagged as Advert and work had been done to clean it up. If this was insufficient, returning the Advert tag would definitely have had more work done to improve the article.

Initial deletion call was given reason A7 (non notability). The article discussed an association put together by Walt_Disney_Internet_Group, Webtrends, Omniture, Yahoo!, and a few other companies that now lists dozens of longstanding web analytics companies as members, however the membership and influence on the web analytics industry wasn't described in the article, as far as I remember. Again, tagging and requesting correction would have been better than deletion - and even better than speedy deletion. Mr. Bene 11:41, 26 August 2007 (UTC)

I see responses to messages posted later than this, but none here yet. Any feedback at all would be appreciated. Mr. Bene 23:21, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
No response was called for! -- Y not? 02:25, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
Ah. I do see that I didn't put in any question marks. Is it OK to re-create the Web Analytics Association record? Mr. Bene 18:44, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
Yes, if you get consensus at WP:DRV. I don't like rudeness. -- Y not? 21:15, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
I don't think anyone likes rudeness. If I have been rude I apologize. I have not attempted to contest deletion before this time, and the text on the Web Analytics Association AfD page ("The result was g11 -- Y not? 04:15, 23 August 2007 (UTC)"), with the "not?" being linked to your talk page give a strong impression that contesting should be done here. I'll set up a discussion on WP:DRV.Mr. Bene 21:55, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

Heckle

Since I haven't edited Misplaced Pages in quite some time, this may very well be taken as "vandalism", but I can think of no better reason to edit a bit than to poke some fun, prod at the wounds, and heckle you. Heckle! I'm actually in the States at the moment and am just relishing the seemingly insurmountable lead we (and I use the term rather liberally) have on your boys. Hope all's well, mate! gaillimh 05:22, 27 August 2007 (UTC)

About user Eidah, Izzak and me

While i Strongly condemn the accusation from user Izzak that u r aiding user Eidah in his POV, i must remind u that Izzak did not mean to hurt u or to just make a discussion about your capacity and justice as a system operator, i think the pain towards u is that u know him and u do nothing to tame his POV. i don't think its your job or duty to silence users and that's why i think Izak cannot blame anybody but himself for being lazy to deal with eidahs edits, i am struggling with eida for over a week in the Zionist articles not one word from izzak to hep me, and the gentile sysops have even thought that i am a Vandal because of this, we are all in this together with the same duty to deal with Eidah he has broken no rules of sockpupetry and we must deal with his POV, which he does very open and therefore appreciated so we can fix it. Keep up the good work and i am happy we have here a Jewish sysop with knowledge in this issues to deal with it. thank u very much for your service to us.--יודל 15:43, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

I know him, I know his POV pushing. I know that you're hardly better. I know IZAK too and I know his POV pushing for a long time now. I do nothing either to advance the POV to defeat the POV nor do I go into any other battles that you people fight. When was the last time I meaningfully edited a Hasidic or Zionist article? Leave me out of this. -- Y not? 17:33, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
But we would like u to get involved and not just stay aside and do nothing like this we can finely solve thinks. thanks--יודל 18:13, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
There's nothing to solve. I am not blocking him. Who is blocking him? Ultimately, he'll just have to be taken to Arbcom. -- Y not? 19:00, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
Please help me understand your reasoning, first u say their is nothing to be solved then u declare that this must be solved by Arbcom, if u believe that their is a problem why wait for Arbcom why not enforce rules and polices along the way?--יודל 12:26, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
I believe the attempted community ban is not sticking - since people are not really willing to block him for coming back after being soft-banned. Therefore, the only way his opponents would be able to get him hard-banned is by going through arbitration. Oherwise, he will stay un-banned. -- Y not? 14:22, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
Hi there, what's with this "soft-banned" and "hard-banned" terminology? it's beginning to sound like porn, maybe I am not up-to-date with the latest buzz-words regarding permanantly blocked users who use multiple sockpuppets. When confronted with a supspected, AFAIK all that is required is to basically prove that what we have here is a sockpuppet of a banned user, see Misplaced Pages:Banning policy, and the suckpuppet is then banned. Since when does it require the "ArbCom" to deal with a simple basic clear cut case of the violation of WP:SOCK? Unless of course, you are ever-so-gently hinting that a "federal case" should be made when it's only an ant-heap (good mixed metaphor) to give the accused "wiggle-room" to escape and carry on with his mischief since ArbCom cases take a long time. Let's not over-complicate what should be an open and shut case. IZAK 16:45, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

What I meant was, I remember the discussion that took place on ANI after he said something about Jews for Jesus being chayav misa. There were a few opinions expressed and eventually someone blocked him based on that. That wasn't a particularly strong expression of banning, and when he reappeared, nobody touched him until he started pissing people off again. So, he's being blocked for reappearing after being repeatedly indefblocked. But it's not like he's actually abusing sockpuppets to influence consensus or whatever - he's using one account at a time. Doesn't there come a time when he's had enough of a punishment for that remark? Nothing else he's doing merits an indefinite block - in fact many users seem to have some appreciation for what he does. I mean, I know him - he'll reappear... and then? Sockpuppety case #9? What's the point - just work with the guy! -- Y not? 03:40, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

First-Time Article--Critique Requested

I have created a new page on Helen Hartness Flanders. Since this is my first effort, perhaps you could offer suggestions on style and substance. HopsonRoad 23:05, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

OK. I'll take a look. Give me 24 hrs. -- Y not? 05:34, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
Done. -- Y not? 07:26, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for your assistance. As to the "hook." I believe that my statement about "helping save traditional ballads from oblivion" is factual, since that was her accomplishment in recording and transcribing them. Perhaps you'd be more comfortable with:

...that American folklorist Helen Hartness Flanders recorded, transcribed and catalogued traditional ballads from New England at a time when people were ceasing to sing them.

My co-author and I have access to more appropriate images, which have been in the family and published elsewhere. However, uploading such images doesn't seem to conform to copyright categories endorsed by Misplaced Pages. Any advice? My search of images failed to locate a Misplaced Pages image of Helen Flanders, yet you were able to provide one. Are there others available?

HopsonRoad 00:54, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

That hook sounds better. I looked online for public domain pictures older than 1923, one of which I uploaded to Misplaced Pages. -- Y not? 02:07, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
