The F23 is a 5-speed manual transmission manufactured by GETRAG in Italy. It is designed for transverse engine applications and can handle up to 155 ft·lbf (210 N·m) of engine torque.

In the U.S. market, General Motors uses the F23 in two versions: the M86 and MG3.

RPO code M86 is rated for lighter vehicles with a maximum GVWR of 4094 lb (1857 kg).
