DYK nomination
Hi, I've nominated an article you worked on, Wasantha Karannagoda, for consideration to appear on the Main Page as part of Misplaced Pages:Did you know. You can see the hook for the article at Template talk:Did you know#Articles created on May 18 where you can improve it if you see fit. MeegsC | Talk 01:12, 20 May 2007 (UTC)
Sri Lanka (Republic date)
Thank you for adding a Republic date to the Sri Lanka article under Independence. Becoming a Republic is certainly an important part of Independence, and adding it has brought it into line with other country articles. My previous attempt in February to do so proved to be in vain, as it was removed almost immediately by a user without any justification or consensus whatsoever. Hopefully it will stick this time! Fair use rationale for Image:SLN 5.jpg
Hi Natraven. The article still needs a detailed fair use rationale, saying what that particular image is needed for that specific page. Basically, it needs an explanation (the template {{Non-free use rationale}} helps) for why it should be allowed given all the criteria. Overall, the question is why would it be so difficult for someone to take a free (copyright-wise) picture of the Sri Lankan Navy that Misplaced Pages needs to use a copyrighted image? -- Ricky81682 (talk) 06:16, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
- Hi there. I fixed the fairuse rationale but try to add the exact source URL. Chrees --♪♫ ĽąĦĩŘǔ ♫♪ 10:11, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

Your new articles
Hello. I see that you added two new articles as Ultra fast attack boat and Super Dvora class fast patrol boat. But I see that you copied those articles entirely from http://www.israeli-weapons.com/weapons/naval/super_dvora2/SuperDvora2.html and from the http://www.naval-technology.com/contractors/patrol/colombo/. If any admin notice those articles they will delete asap. So try write new articles with your own words ;-) --♪♫ ĽąĦĩŘǔ ♫♪ 18:03, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
- Sure I'll send it to you. --♪♫ ĽąĦĩŘǔ ♫♪ 18:14, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
Re
Actually I blanked the Category:Wars involving Sri Lanka since it's duplicating with the Category:Battles involving Sri Lanka. But now I feels that I did the wrong thing because it's too conflicting with Category:Military operations involving Sri Lanka --♪♫ ĽąĦĩŘǔ ♫♪ 19:15, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
- Well Battles and wars comes under the military operations isn't it ;-) --♪♫ ĽąĦĩŘǔ ♫♪ 19:25, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
- No worries, then lets go to the Category:Wars involving Sri Lanka by moving Military operations and Battles to the Wars. We should keep these cats tidy. Btw did you get my mail? --♪♫ ĽąĦĩŘǔ ♫♪ 19:34, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
An article which you started, or significantly expanded, Ultra Fast Attack Craft, was selected for DYK!
On November 7, 2007, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Ultra Fast Attack Craft, which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |
Thanks for your contributions! ++Lar: t/c 02:38, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
Welcome!
Hi, and welcome to the Military history WikiProject! As you may have guessed, we're a group of editors working to improve Misplaced Pages's coverage of topics related to military history.
A few features that you might find helpful:
- Our navigation box points to most of the useful pages within the project.
- The announcement and open task box is updated very frequently. You can watchlist it if you're interested; or, you can add it directly to your user page by including {{WPMILHIST Announcements}} there.
- Most important discussions take place on the project's main discussion page; it is highly recommended that you watchlist it.
- The project has several departments, which handle article quality assessment, detailed article and content review, article improvement contests, and other tasks.
- We have a number of task forces that focus on specific topics, nations, periods, and conflicts.
- We've developed a style guide that covers article structure and content, template use, categorization, and many other issues of interest.
- The project has a stress hotline available for your use.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask one of the project coordinators, or any experienced member of the project, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around! Kirill 05:25, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
Welcome to WP:UNI!!!
Hi, and welcome to WikiProject Universities! Our goals are to standardize the structure and content of all college and university articles, improve Misplaced Pages's coverage of these articles (hopefully propelling them to featured article status), and serve as the central resource for all discussions and information related to colleges and universities on Misplaced Pages.
A few features that you might find helpful:
- Our navigation box points to most of the useful pages within the project.
- The university infobox is one way we hope to standardize our coverage of university articles. All university pages should have this infobox, and relevant fields should be filled in and sourced.
- Most important discussions take place on the project's main discussion page; it is highly recommended that you watchlist it.
- The project has a few expanding departments, which handle article quality assessment and member recruitment and project awareness.
- We have a Student Affairs task force that focuses on Student affairs-specific articles.
- We've developed a variety of guidelines for article structure and content, template use, categorization, and other issues that you may find useful.
If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask one of the project participants or post a question on the talk page. We'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around! Noetic Sage 20:31, 26 November 2007 (UTC)

Vandalism
Hi,
Some one trying to vandalise the article Anura Bandaranaike also removed the citations from RS. --Vimukthi (talk) 21:47, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
Lakshman Algama
From the perspective of categorisation guidelines, I think that the Terrorist attacks and Terrorist incidents categories should not appear on these two biographical articles. Note #9 of Misplaced Pages:Categorization#Guidelines:
Generally, the relationship between an article and its categories should be definable as "(Article) is (category)".
So, while Algama may be a terrorism victim, he can't really be classified as a terrorist incident or attack.

Nissanka Wijeyeratne
Hey Nitraven! Probably, we will really have to do something about that Fitz Mackins ... we'll get him with 3RR as a start if he goes on like this ... Talk to you soon, cheers, Krankman (talk) 14:22, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
- While I certainly think Fitz Mackins actions are out of line, be very careful about violating the three revert rule yourself Nitraven. Meanwhile, I am investigating the matter myself per a request for admin intervention.--Esprit15d • talk • contribs 16:57, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
Radala
Hello Nitraven,
Regarding the caption for the last photo on the page titled 'Radala', the former Diyawadana Nilame, Neranjan Wijeyeratne had been falsely accused without any facts or references. Please note that an umbrella had never been used for the Tooth Relic. It is a Golden Canopy which is used for it, and that too for the Randoli Perahara only.
In the history, Nilames have always used umbrellas since the very first Diyawadana Nilame. The same applies today too.
In addition, the Diyawadana Nilame, or for that matter, any person, is not allowed to wear shoes within the Dalada Maligawa premises. However, in the Perahara, any Nilame (Diyawadana and Basnayake Nilames) can wear shoes.
Therefore, please consider these facts and be kind enough to correct the false, misleading and baseless statements on that caption.
Thanks & kind regards,
Fitz Mackins —Preceding unsigned comment added by Fitz Mackins (talk • contribs) 16:38, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
