I assume you didn't appreciate my copying your whole id, so you editted much of it out. Still, leaving the commas in... that's just silly. :-D - Denimadept (talk)

Admin

I have looked at your contributions, and I would be happy to nominate you for adminship. I saw you had failed RFAS, and don't have the courage to nominate yourself. Please let me know on your decision.--LAAFan 19:25, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

Handling of edits by a blocked sockpuppet?

My question was whether it was allowed & acceptable to revert edits by a blocked sockpuppeteer (in the midst of other vandalism) without checking for merit.

This particular person (scrivin, a/k/a DavidYork71) has over 300 sockpuppets, and is blocked for life, so I was not too careful. Checking a reference is not very easy.

Sorry if I overstepped. It might be a good idea to clarify the policy on the WP:SOCK page.

Thanks though, Wwheaton (talk) 19:52, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for answering my question, but...

I dont want to make a ref list. I want to make just a normal list into two columns.Y5nthon5a (talk) 01:30, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

Bold redirect

I would have done this, but I felt that title did not deserve to be redirected. Either way, it is done now. :)  Asenine  18:44, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

Well...It's alright!

"I quick failed Polyclonal response because of the {{copyedit}} tag. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters18:29, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

  • Okay, maybe I shouldn't have. I didn't take into consideration that the article had already been copy edited and the tag waas left on by mistake. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters18:40, 27 May 2008 (UTC)"
It's alright. In fact, I too am to be blamed. The user who failed the article in the first place had warned me about removing the {{copyedit}} tag, but had never thought that the "assessment" would be so quick. Just as I removed the tag (I only had put it in the first place in spite of not really feeling an urgent need for copyediting!), I saw the message flashed "you have a new message (last change)"!
It took me a bit of effort, but I have renominated it. You can of course now assess it.
Regards.

Thanks for putting the template there. Originally it was longer but someone shortened it. I did fix the short introduction right after you put the template there. Kevin Rutherford 20:19, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

It can only get better from here. Thanks for the suggestion though. I never really thought of that. Kevin Rutherford 20:22, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
When you have a moment, could you quickly look over the 'Origins,' 'Introduction' and 'WWII' sections and tell me what you think? Kevin Rutherford (talk) 22:00, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
Okay, I fixed it as much as possible. I'm just a bit iffy on the use of the webpage citation template. Thanks though for all your help on fixing the page. Kevin Rutherford (talk) 22:31, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
Somebody did that once and I couldn't figure out why or how they did it. It makes sense though. Kevin Rutherford (talk) 22:51, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for catching that. If you agree with me that it should be speedily kept so the creator can continue working on it please go ahead and close it that way. —BradV 02:06, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

Thanks. I have great confidence in your work at AfD, and am sure I'm not the only one. I have no idea why the cabal won't let you in. —BradV 02:14, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
No idea. Apparently there is no cabal. —BradV 02:31, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

TPH, a quick note: please be aware that you can't close AfDs that you've already !voted in, especially closing as speedy keep. It's mostly procedural; I agree with your close and would have done similarly, but with cases like that, the outcome should already be obvious enough that you don't need to close it yourself. Thanks. WP:GA?

Fail, yes: although the lead and the part pertaining to real numbers are nicely written, it subsequently jumps up a couple levels of difficulty to the point of being incomprehensible. But quick fail? I'd only quick-fail it if it contained incorrect information, and I am no expert. 69.140.152.55 (talk) 03:32, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

Hello, TenPoundHammer. You have new messages at 69.140.152.55's talk page.

It's amusing to me

I have been wary to label any poker player articles as A7, or outright delete any, because of this article: Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Madeleine Rowan (2nd nomination). Because it has been kept once before at AfD but is probably the most blatantly non-notable poker player to ever exist on[REDACTED] (and in fact it may be kept again). Because of this article I've taken the safe route with all poker player articles, but apparently I'm being too safe. –– Lid 00:47, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

Deletion review for Last Man Standing (Ryan Shupe & the Rubberband album)

Hello from new Member

Hello, I have worked very hard to make my first post and it is already up for deletion. Can you please help. I am trying to add the topic of Objectùm-sexuality and it is recognized by the German Misplaced Pages as Objektophil, yet it is being called neologism here in English. I founded Objectùm-Sexuality Internationale and I can assure you that this condition exists. It has been adressed quite frequently in the media internationally as of very recent. It would be a shame to have this deleted. I really wish to see more authoritative articles that might help alleviate the derogatory bashing that exists because people are unaware of this condition. Berliner Mauer (talk) 03:30, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for trying to help. BTW, I wasn't referring to bashing from Wiki but from online forums. Sorry for the misunderstanding. On June 4th will be a one hour documentary covering OS... is this enough to verify this article? Berliner Mauer (talk) 07:23, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

Dear Ten Pound,

I notice you suggested that the Carousel Theatre entry be deleted. I'd really like to improve it instead. Can you help improve it? Cheers, Carole Carole Higgins (talk) 04:09, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi Ten Pound,

I have resolved my computer issues, and cited several more references for Carousel Theatre. Can you take a look and tell me what you think?

Carousel Theatre

Thanks for your suggestions. I fixed the broken link and found two newspaper articles about Carousel Theatre and added those. Hopefully this has improved the page and asserted the subject's notability. Carole Higgins (talk) 05:34, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

Elderly Music

Nonsense- it is an advert. It reeks to high hell of it. Numerous commentators on the articles talk page can see through this very transparent attempted mask. It is an overt facade- the article is of a music store of little to no consequence much like any other around the globe. Any assertion to the contrary would be total self-delusion.Starstylers (talk) 08:11, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

So- as you cannot see it- it must not exist- and myself and others are wrong? Starstylers (talk) 16:00, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

Well, differences of opinion aside- I think it can be agreed it was still a pretty shitty article to be a featured article- surely there were hundreds of far better ones. Starstylers (talk) 16:26, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

MoS

As a new member of Misplaced Pages, I felt the impact of your hammer by the tag you placed in the Article on Ray Joseph Cormier. Deferring to your experience and seniority I would welcome your suggestions on improving it. Believing it aims to make the encyclopedia easier to read in English by stating basic verifiable facts without embellishment, it conforms to the overriding principle that style and formatting should be applied consistently throughout an article, and defers to the style used by the first major contributor, a Misplaced Pages Administrator.

Singles & Sections

Thanks Ten. I looked for the single sentences and combined some of them. I have images I would like to post between the single sentences on the trips in 1981 and 1986 but I haven't figured out how to do that yet. The images already posted were done by the creator of the article and I have not heard from him for a week. The single sentence on being invited to lunch with the Pope's Ambassador to Canada will be expanded in time to convey a sense of being there.

As to sections for this work in progress, I envision only three for now. Preamble Prophecy and Preparation with a fourth on Prophecy again.

DoDaCanaDa (talk) 18:59, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

Sections

Thanks again, Ten. It looks better already. It will be even better with the other related images when I learn how to post them.

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre

deletions or redirects

Hi, I saw you redirect something I nominated for deletion when I had just nominated another from same user. It seems the user has not followed the naming convention for articles in the category, so I'm not sure if a redirect is useful given the new stub does not offer any new information, and neither is its title--mrg3105 (comms) ♠01:14, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

Ok, thanks. I have notified the user creating these to check before he does any more, and will redirect any more I encounter myself. Regards--mrg3105 (comms) ♠01:26, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

Benjamin Franklin High School (New Orleans, Louisiana) GA Review

Thanks so much for reviewing Benjamin Franklin High School (New Orleans, Louisiana). I've made some changes to the article and added comments to Talk:Benjamin Franklin High School (New Orleans, Louisiana)/GA1. Two things I'm still not sure about are the use of "Ben Franklin" and the notable alumni list. --Jh12 (talk) 10:08, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

Woohoo!! Thanks a bunch and have a great day --Jh12 (talk) 12:14, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

Uploading Images

Ten, your instructions on creating sections was simple and precise and hopefully that satisfies the requirements to remove the tag you placed in the article on Ray Joseph Cormier. I have two images I would like to upload and mount as thumbnails in the open space next to the contents box. If you or someone would provide me a step by step process to do that, with the appropriate tag, I would be most grateful. I have been reading for hours and still can't find the way. DoDaCanaDa (talk) 11:29, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

Ten, thanks for removing your tag. Peace DoDaCanaDa (talk) 17:11, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

Images Uploaded

Ten that was easy but I cannot see how to attach the thumbnail to the Article. The images are on site as: http://en.wikipedia.org/Image:Maclean%27s_Cover.jpg http://en.wikipedia.org/Image:MacLean%27s_People.jpg This is the applicable tag: http://en.wikipedia.org/Template:Non-free_historic_image Could the %27 be removed from the names the images and mounted next to the Content Box? DoDaCanaDa (talk) 12:11, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

I believe the tag provided covers any potential controversy. The actual tag, as it reads, is attached to the images already in the article. Sometimes in life one has to take a chance and risk to accomplish anything. The images add to the understanding of the reader and for all other reasons in the tag. Perhaps other readers would weigh in with an opinion. DoDaCanaDa (talk) 14:48, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

I'll defer to your opinion, however since the images are not posted to the article there is no need to immediately delete them. Let's see what other users have to say, OK? The images are almost thirty years old and not likely to be reproduced and are used as a Reference in the article. The item in the People section of MacLeans is an antithesis to the Cover. DoDaCanaDa (talk) 12:29, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

I appreciate what you're doing Ten, but why don't we wait and see if other users have an opinion on whether the images should be added to the Article . I believe this is the[REDACTED] way. DoDaCanaDa (talk) 16:01, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

Ten I know I need new glasses and I would like to see the images in the Article, but I'm struggling to maintain a NPOV. Having read the guidelines on fair use, I see all 10 conditions are met. Please, if I am blind, restore my sight. DoDaCanaDa (talk) 16:21, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre

Thanks for the reply. I've now reformatted all references, and cleaned them up, and also added references to the plot section. It would be appreciated if you could take a look at it now. Thanks, --EclipseSSD (talk) 13:01, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

I haven't and I am contributing to the decision of what to do with the article. DeadmanUndertaker 19:17, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

Should I just stop then? DeadmanUndertaker 19:21, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

To be honest I am basing my opinions on the rating of the article in terms of quality and importance. I think that articles that have been brought into question should have their quality and importance ratings pointed out to sway the decision. DeadmanUndertaker 19:25, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
