Steven M. Greer (June 28, 1955) is an American physician, ufologist, and conspiracy theorist. Greer is the founder of several UFO and free energy organizations, including the Disclosure Project.
Greer has appeared on shows such as Larry King Live, CBS, BBC, NTV in Japan, Sightings, Encounters, Coast to Coast AM, and the Armstrong Williams radio show. In addition to his appearances, Greer hosts a regular internet radio segment called "Conversations with Dr. Steven Greer".
Greer is also a contactee, and coined the term "close encounter of the fifth kind" (a.k.a. CE5) to describe human initiated contact with extraterrestrials, believing that aliens are present and receptive to contact by humans. CE5 encounters are "characterized by mutual, bilateral communication rather than unilateral contact."
Greer has published several books related to UFOs and government conspiracy, and sells UFO related materials and workshop sessions. Greer frequently gives presentations and lectures related to the ET/UFO Disclosure effort and other issues, and has shared the podium with notable individuals such as former Canadian Defence Minister Hon. Paul Hellyer, Nick Cook, Brian O'Leary, and others.
Greer is a former chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Caldwell Memorial Hospital in Lenoir, North Carolina, and a lifetime member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He and his wife Emily have four daughters and reside in the Charlottesville, Virginia area.
CSETI and Commercial Activities
In 1990 Greer founded the Center for the Study of Extraterrestrial Intelligence (CSETI), an organization dedicated to investigating and initiating contact with extraterrestial intelligence. The organization has published a number of writings and offers training in alleged techniques of alien contact, including the use of lasers, electronics, and a form of telepathy. The training is offered for a fee. Greer also teaches the use of meditation techniques claimed to allow attendees to "remote view" locations and times (past and present), and develop "cosmic consciousness" and supernatural abilities such as precognition.
As yet CSETI and Greer have been unable to provide any evidence - either photographic or filmed - to support the success of this program. However, Greer considers possible signs of alien contact as including unusual scents, dogs barking, a change in body temperature, hair standing up, a sudden drop in the wind, and feelings of warmth and love.

In 1993, Greer founded the Disclosure Project, which claims a wide-ranging conspiracy by a shadowy government in the United States and other nations to cover up the visits by extraterrestrial vehicles and continued monitoring by these extraterrestrial beings, and to suppress unspecified extraterrestrial technologies, including free energy (see free energy suppression).

The Disclosure Project has obtained support from various individuals within the so-called 'covert programs' who support Greer's views.
Greer is also the founder of the Advanced Energy Research Organization (AERO) and The Orion Project. The latter aims to reproduce claimed free energy devices, including ones that Greer says were developed in secret government projects by a branch of the Military Industrial Complex or MIC.
