There are multiple conflicting non-fringe secondary references and no primary reference for Barack Obama's hospital birthplace, and at least one (Will Hoover's Nov. 9,2008 Honolulu Advertiser) article noting that it is not possible to verify independently that Obama was born at Kapo'aliani Medical Center as currently stated in the main article, and the current main article treats the current controversy by ignoring it entirely in contrast to referring to it explicitly as in the cases of the main articles for Presidents Chester Arthur and Andrew Jackson. • For previous request that is hostile in nature, feel free to provide additional verifiable information. Respectfully, requests for comments should not be used to incite ad hominem attacks against laboratories and individuals for personal gain.
  • Request for comment on the R William Field bio page (http://en.wikipedia.org/R._William_Field) Objective statements of fact involving persons who have created pages of themselves on Misplaced Pages are valid positions of information regarding that person. The fact that the person who created their own page may be embarrassed about the information added by an editor or desire that specific information remain hidden, does not constitute vandalism or a personal attack or an egregious violation. Contributors who provide valid objective information, and support that information with referencing links that may place a person in a less favorable light than the person would like to see themselves, are adding a valuable objective aspect to the public information. Administrators who remove that objective information help to promote unbalanced information.
  • Flag desecration image For some time, the article has used the Commons image File:Flag burning.jpg to illustrate the US flag being burned. This image was sourced (correctly) from Flickr and may have been taken in San Francisco in 2005. An anon IP user:221.191.99.224 has just removed it with the comment "I'm the person in the picture- please use another picture". Their edit history is minimal and appears to be that of a new Misplaced Pages editor using the sandbox to first practice the edit before carrying it out (I bet they even used Preview, so thanks for that (-8 ) Their current whois puts that IP in Japan.
So what's our best practice here? AGF and remove the image from the article? Ask them to provide any sort of evidence that they really are the person involved? Check our facts carefully first, then defend it as an embarassing, but truthful piece of photo journalism?
  • Talk:Kai Wong Not notable. Someone is insisting that he is, even though there is hardly any evidence for this outside this one individual's contributions to various[REDACTED] pages.
  • Talk:Mehmed Talat - I added WP:Turkey to this, which was missing even though he was Turkish, and added the POV template to the main page as the article seems decidedly pejorative in tone/structure; I have been accused of revving up an edit war, but I don't see how this article could have balance without the participation of WP:Turkey since only WP:Armenia was present, of the national WPs (Bio and MilHist were there as well). I'm neutral on the subject matter, just wanting to make sure it's balanced, and it doesn't seem to be....Skookum1 (talk) 15:29, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
  • User:Nerdseeksblonde/Marchywka_Effect I needed help on an outline for my first possible contribution. I tried the RFC request thing a few hours ago but no response so I'll try this approach. Essentially I have a short article on an effect named after a living person and, worse, have the same issues and conflicts as with a complete autobiography. So, before even getting to notability or style, I just needed to know if, based on the outline I have up now, it would be worth pursuing. Thanks.
  • Talk:Eliseo Soriano The charity he founded is true if you'll search it in Yahoo or Google but other users won't believe the website of the charity itself.
  • Talk:Jorge Cortell Request for comment on the Jorge Cortell bio page. Jorge Cortell is a spanish "professor" in Spain who gave copyleft talks. Controveries arosed in 2005 about his academic achievements led to the removal of his entry (his entry is about his copyleft achivements) in the Spanish edition of[REDACTED] in 2005.
The English edition of[REDACTED] should respect the Spanish edition of wikipedia. The English edition stated that he is a "well known" copyleft activists who gave dozens and dozens of conference speeches on copyleft issues in Spain. If he is so famous, why is his entry removed in the Spanish edition of wikipedia.
  • User talk:So-Cal-Dan - Dan Lyons (me) is requesting editing of his auto-biography for inclusion into wikipedia. Dan Lyons was the primary person responsible for getting Rodney King surgeory prior to the 1992 Los Angeles Riots, and also for creating an historic gang truce towards the end of the Los Angeles Riots. According to the Misplaced Pages autobiography rules, it's preferable to seek community edits prior to putting the article online.
  • Harvey Milk - length of lead - The lead of this article had accumulated an excess of details and digression that made it overly long and difficult to read. Efforts to negotiate a shorter and more neutral version are underway on its talk page. Outside opinions would help greatly. !!
  • Request for comment on the WP:BLP Noticeboard regarding an editing dispute on the Biography of William Timmons. Many believe the current reference to a recent Huffington Post article is in violation of the BLP guidelines. Rtally3 (talk) 20:03, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
  • Request for comment on the William Timmons bio, and subsequent WP:BLP/Noticeboard posting The current bio references an online article which claims that Timmons lobbied on behalf of Sadaam Hussein, despite the subject failing to attract any mainstream media, draw any criminal charges despite 2 thorough investigations from the FBI and U.N., or even be asked for a deposition during the trial of those who were convicted. Rtally3 (talk) 20:16, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
  • *Talk:Ken McCarthy This is a bio of a living person. A particular editor has repeatedly posted inaccurate material to this article that could be characterized as inflammatory if not libelous. Said editor has also selectively posted what could be characterized as insignificant information and trivia in order to support his personal theories about the subject. Nolatime (talk) 13:51, 14 January 2009 (UTC)Nolatime
  • *Talk:Bernard Goldberg This is a bio of a living person. This person is a political commentator. The article includes a "Criticism & Controversy" section. Relevant and notable additions to this and other sections of the article are regularly being deleted in 3RR violations by two editors who are clearly hyperpartisan politically, and are seeking to use Misplaced Pages pages to support and advance their own particular political agendas. Therefore any "criticism" or "controversy" involving those with whom they are in ideological accord are being routinely and summarily deleted. One editor has several 3RR violations already in his history. The other has taken to capricious, arbitrary, and unilateral deletes even AFTER fellow editors have agreed to work to reach a resolution. Both editors' histories reflect this persistent pattern of politically motivated edits and deletes, and their activities need to be sanctioned. Despite being warned several times that Misplaced Pages standards and procedures must be followed, and that the balance of the article is the only legitimate focus, they persist in pursuing their own individual agendas. Also if necessary, the article in question needs to be protected. Thank you. 68.183.246.93 (talk) 00:09, 30 January 2009 (UTC)
