Hoary, of course I can present evidence for COI. Take for example ''"COI? I've been helped in the field, but I'd rather not disclose a lot of information in regards to ]. I hope you can understand."'' Nevertheless, the real issue here is lack of notability and references failing ], the COI was just mentioned as an obvious aside. So, let me go into those. I believe we all agree that the first paragraph is usually a declaration of notability. What does that paragraph say in this case? 1. that the subject is a doctor in metaphysical philosophy; 2. that the subject has theories in influencing the weather; 3. that she persuaded her local government commission to modify an ordinance; and 4. that her family was featured in a reality show. First, doctor of metaphysical philosophy is a non-existent ] (imagine, from an associate's degree to doctorate without having to go through bachelors and masters) awarded by an ] correspondence ]. And even if it is a real doctorate from Harvard or Yale or whatever else, just for the sake of argument, having a doctorate does not make a person notable. And what are the references for that bit of useless puffery? The subject's own website and the website of the unaccredited correspondence diploma mill! Second, having ''theories about the weather'', say what? Notability is not established by having subjective theories about whatever but ''by significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject'' (again, it's all in ]). The reference for this is an . How does that meet ] which states that sources should be ''credible published materials with a reliable publication process; their authors are generally regarded as trustworthy or authoritative in relation to the subject at hand''? If the theory was published in a peer-reviewed scientific journal then yes it may be notable, but if it is just Silver and the FM station DJ talking, as is the case here, then it means nothing! Which leads us to the third claim of persuading the local government commission to modify an ordinance, because the reference for this is, just like all the claims, highly-questionable. How is a ''reliable, third-party, published source''? Read the article, it is a mere narrative of what Silver herself told the author in a phone interview! The first paragraph reads, ''"Psychic '''Sheree Silver said''' she lives in a world free of coincidence"'' and the next one ''"'''She said''' The Record approached her to be a Monday profile because she drew its energy the way gravity draws falling objects."'' and the third ''"And strangely enough—through no coincidence, '''according to Silver'''—she had just designed a new series of classes with her new project, the Shiloh Spiritual Center."'' and it just goes on and on. To cut to the chase, the so-called reference is basically Silver talking. What ordinance was changed? Where can this ordinance be found? The reference should be from the website of the local government commission or from a respectable news outfit. Silver can claim anything on such an interview with a relatively unknown online tabloid. In fact the article even states proudly that Silver is a ] minister. Do you know what it entails to be a ] minister? You go to the website, type your name, and you get "ordained." Even your cat can be ordained. So, it is very clear that the tabloid was merely reporting Silver's answers in the interview, the author of the article was not asserting them as facts. The last and only real contention here is her appearance in Wipe Swap, does that make her notable according to Misplaced Pages standards? I think that this has already been discussed with an overwhelming turnabout saying that it's not. – ] (]) 18:15, 4 April 2009 (UTC) | |||

Hello Shannon Rose. I also recently came upon the Hariharananda article. Aside from the Miami Herald story on his death, have you ever come across any reliable sources? The individual seem to be short on notability and reliable sources. Thanks. Ism schism (talk) 19:48, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
- Hi there, Ism schism! Unfortunately I have not come across any reliable source other than that Miami Herald one, which could very well be nothing but paid PR. I sincerely believe that if there are ever any those sources should have already come out given the seeming desperation of a certain editor to put the man in a pedestal. The subject appears to be a non-notable lightweight in the field, no landmark achievements, no bestselling book, no substantial following like Yogananda, Ammachi, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, etc., and his only claim to fame (being a disciple of Sri Yukteswar) is not accepted by people outside his cult. I sincerely believe that an AFD is in order at this point. – Shannon Rose (talk) 21:41, 1 August 2008 (UTC)

Well spotted! That means it can be speedied (Db-repost, recreation of previous deletion). Except, I know nothing of the area, do you know if circumstances have changed or is there anything missing that might make him notable? Ben--Bsnowball (talk) 13:08, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

Kriya Yoga: Difference in Techniques
Shannon Rose: You yourself use Swami Satyeswaranada's "Kriya, Finding the True Path" when making an argument regarding Hariharananda: Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Paramahamsa Hariharananda. I used the same source to ascertain that the original Kriya Yoga differs from what is now taught by SRF. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Walterelyon (talk • contribs) 30 August 2008
Your checkuser entry
How did you come to include RainbowOfLight (talk · contribs) in your Misplaced Pages:Requests for checkuser/Case/Dar book? You didn't mention how she might be connected and she is a very-long-term vandalism fighter in good standing here. Was it a typo perhaps? —Wknight94 (talk) 21:31, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
Sheree Silver
Hi, Shannon. The deletion of Sheree Silver was discussed at deletion review and it was decided to restore and update the article based on new sources that had been provided. You can see the discussion here. It will need to go through the articles for deletion process again, if wanted, and I have accordingly declined your request for speedy deletion. Kind regards, --Malcolmxl5 (talk) 17:10, 29 March 2009 (UTC)
- Shannon Rose, I recently put in a Template:RFCbio_list for Sheree Silver because another editor and I are having a disagreement on inclusion of the aforementioned sources. Feel free to comment; visit User_talk:Kaiwhakahaere for the info. (P.S. - I responded to your question about Eliseo Soriano on my talk page) Spring12 (talk) 19:07, 29 March 2009 (UTC)
You notified me of this AfD. My assumption is that you did this because I participated at the first AfD not so long ago, and that you have similarly informed all such editors. If you could confirm that all involved parties have been notified with a note at the present AfD discussion, I would appreciate it. Regards, - Eldereft (cont.) 00:01, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
Thanks
Thanks for notifying me about the Sheree Silver thing - I cannot believe I wasn't told about the DRV, even as the person directly attacked me. Shoemaker's Holiday (talk) 15:08, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
- On a more personal note than my above comment - yeah, what SH said. The lack of discrimination in the source list presented at that discussion may have the effect of discouraging fair analysis via argumentum verbosium. - Eldereft (cont.) 16:26, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

Hoary, of course I can present evidence for COI. Take this for example "COI? I've been helped in the field, but I'd rather not disclose a lot of information in regards to Misplaced Pages:OUTING#Posting_of_personal_information. I hope you can understand." Second, having theories about the weather, say what? Notability is not established by having subjective theories about whatever but by significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject (again, it's all in WP:GNG). The reference for this is an audio file of an interview at an FM station.
