Nancy Jacobson is a fundraiser for the United States Democratic Party. She is married to Mark Penn, CEO of Burson-Marsteller Worldwide.
Career
Jacobson received a B.A. in Political Science from Syracuse University and a Masters in Public Relations from American University. She served as finance director for the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and national finance chair for the centrist Democratic Leadership Council (DLC). She has worked for Indiana Senator Evan Bayh, and was a member of his finance team during Bayh's bid for the 2008 Democratic nomination for president. Subsequently, she worked as a fundraiser for Hillary Clinton during Clinton's 2008 presidential campaign. In 2008, she caused a stir at the Democratic Convention when she sent an email soliciting $10,000 donations to attend a private "for-profit" conference purportedly to be attended by actors Kevin Spacey and senior advisors from Obama for America -- though both Spacey and the Obama campaign denied any involvement with the conference -- and the event was subsequently cancelled.
Jacobson helped to found Third Way, a centrist think tank, and served as chair of Next Generation, a Democratic political action committee targeting young moderates.
