Gifted persons are those who score between 130 and 145 (two to three standard deviations away from the mean) on an intelligence test, ideally the Stanford-Binet IV.

Highly gifted persons are those who score between 145 and 160 (three to four standard deviations away from the mean) on an intelligence test, ideally the Stanford-Binet IV.

Exceptionally gifted or extremely gifted persons are those who score between 160 and 180 (four to five standard deviations away from the mean) on an intelligence test, ideally the Stanford-Binet IV.

Profoundly gifted persons are those who score 180 or above (more than five standard deviations away from the mean).

Gifted education programs may be required to harness the potential of the variously gifted and talented.
