The cover art to The Hive's DVD release states that the film takes place in Brazil. However in the film itself there is no mention of Brazil, with the plot instead taking place on "a south-east Asian island".<ref name="DVD talk"></ref>

The Hive is a 2008 Science fiction made-for-television film, directed by Peter Manus and written by T.S. Cook. Starring Tom Wopat, Kal Weber and Mark Ramsey, the film follows a group of scientists who must deal with a swarm of man-eating ants feeding on the population. Part of the "Maneater" series, it premiered on the Sci-Fi Channel on February 17, 2008. The film was release to DVD on August 5, 2008.
