Bouley vs. Karel

Although not of her stature, would Cher's name be replaced with Sarkisian?? Charles Karel Bouley is commonly know as "Karel" and only uses his full name when writing i.e. Advocate and Huffington Post. Repeating "Fired" NINE times ,including sources is redundant and unnecessary. Bill O'Reilly himself said that this was the second time Karel had been a pinhead. Will find source. More later...Diff of edit warring / 3RR warning: After extensive searching on Wiki sites I cannot find how to post a warning. Please help! I don't know how speak in symbols, am willing to learn. Karel

Charles Karel Bouley, (on-the-air as Karel) is a weekend talk show host (and fill-in host) for KGO in San Francisco. He is also a columnist for The Advocate.com and is a contributing writer for The Huffington Post. His book of essays You Can't Say That is published by Alyson Press, a LGBT publishing house.

Before his radio career, Karel was a struggling stand-up comic and a writer for Billboard Magazine as well as other music industry journals. Along with having his own graphic arts company, Karel also spent time as a member of the Hollywood paparazzi, imaging celebrities such as Michael Jackson and Diana Ross. In 1995, Bouley released an album entitled "Dance...Or Else" which was named #10 pick-of-the-year by Billboard's Dance Music editor Larry Flick. Karel later recorded the single "Don't Stop" with Steve Bronski and the single "I Am" with Jellybean Benitez as well as "Take Your Heartache Away" again on the Jellybean label. Many projects featured Thea Austin, a personal friend of Karel and former lead singer of Snap!.

Radio Talk Show Host

Karel and his on and off-air partner, Andrew Howard, started in radio together at KYPA Los Angeles in addition to Triangle Broadcasting based in Palm Springs. For the latter, they hosted the program "Good Morning Gay America".

In 1998, Karel and Andrew made talk radio history when they became the first openly gay couple in America to host a drive-time radio show on a major station. At Los Angeles' KFI, the duo replaced John Kobylt and Ken Chiampou (known on-the-air as John and Ken) in the coveted afternoon drive-slot. Kobylt and Chiampou subsequently derided the pair, referring to them as "Siegfried and Roy". Later, Karel and Andrew moved from the afternoon drive to the evening drive slot.

After twenty-two months on KFI, Karel and Andrew were replaced by returning hosts John and Ken in May 2001. Reportedly, KFI's owner was preparing to launch them on KLAC-AM in June, but Andrew's death from a heart attack on May 21, 2001, changed that course. Following Andrew's untimely demise, Karel went on to win a battle in appellate court in Los Angeles that allowed him to sue as a domestic partner in the alleged malpractice in Andrew's death. His court victory effectively rewrote the wrongful death laws in California, making them retroactive. Karel returned to KFI and hosted his own talk-show there for almost a year after Andrew's death until he was let go by station management in 2002. It was then that he was hired by San Francisco radio station KGO, where Karel has been number one in his time slot for the past six years. Karel streams a variety of segments on the internet through the karelchannel.com. The iTunes music store has his podcasts available. Karel also appears as a guest on notable issues on such cable news networks as CNN, MSNBC and Fox News. He is a regular guest on Techlink for Time/Warner, as a Macintosh Computer expert. For two years he was a lead actor on TNN's "Ultimate Revenge" with Ryan Seacrest (a practical joke show) created by industry veteran, Woody Fraiser. Karel wrote, directed and produced, a marriage equality PSA that was shown nationally.

Controversy and criticism

Ronald Reagan On June 5, 2004, Karel opened his weekend KGO program with a clip of The Wizard of Oz song, Ding-Dong the Witch is Dead! as a "tribute" to former President Ronald Reagan, who had died earlier that day. Bouley complained about Reagan during the first segment of his show because of what Karel saw as the non-action of Reagan and his administration in the face of the then new AIDS crisis. He later apologized on-the-air for choosing to air his comments the same day as the former president's death and later included an open letter of apology to Nancy Reagan in his book You Can't Say That.

Tony Snow On March 27, 2007, Karel wrote the following for the online The Huffington Post, regarding reports that White House spokesman Tony Snow had developed cancer in his colon:

"I hear about Tony Snow and say to myself, well, stand up every day, lie to the American people at the behest of your dictator-esque boss and well, how could a cancer NOT grow in you. Fox News spun the truth in to a billion knots and spurred the controversy.

Consequently, the draft was replaced and Karel's statements removed. The original post, however, got wide airplay in print, on television, and the Internet, compelling Huffington Post editor Roy Sekoff to speak out about the issue on The O'Reilly Factor shortly after the row.

Current Life and KGO

Karel has the #1 talk show in his time slot at Citadel/ABC's flagship station, KGO AM 810 San Francisco. #1 overall station. (see Huffington Post) Karel divides his time between Long Beach and San Francisco, California and broadcasts his KGO radio show on weekend evenings 7-10 PM from his KGO South studio, and frequently from the KGO Studio in San Francisco. He is often heard filling in the night time weekday slot 10-1 A.M. In addition to his radio-work on KGO, Karel is the entertainment reporter and roving news reporter for Los Angeles' KNX since 2006. Currently, Karel is working on several books, including the book about Andrew's death titled "The Fight For His Life".

Karel is legally married to Karen Dittman, a lifelong friend. She resides in Texas.

Wikihounding See also: Misplaced Pages:Etiquette Wiki-hounding is the singling out of one or more editors, and joining discussions on pages or topics they may edit or debates where they contribute, in order to repeatedly confront or inhibit their work, with an apparent aim of creating irritation, annoyance or distress to the other editor. "Wikistalking", an older term, is discouraged because it can confuse minor online annoyance with a real world crime.

Charles Karel Bouley

Hope your younger sister is all right, and very glad to hear that you are. I just got your email. Are you completely over the swine flu and do you have your energy back? I hope so. In terms of Charles Karel Bouley, I should be able to get to it in a couple of days. You could also try to contact User:Avraham, who is usually available after Saturday. Most recently, I've been involved with a more ambitious reconciliation project on Talk:Falafel, regarding editors with political agendas relating to the Israel-Palestine conflict. Now that's a tough one to resolve. You may want to see that page, as well as a continuation of the discussion on User talk:Ani medjool/Archive 1. Any ideas? --AFriedman (talk) 21:49, 12 February 2010 (UTC)

Thank you AFriedman for your kind response. My little sister is now in Hospice and I am flying back and forth to Oregon. I am still not totally recovered but my sis is my main priority. Looking forward to your input. JoyDiamond (talk) 13:50, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

Edit-warring

In light of JoyDiamond's latest revert and angry edit summary in this article, I left the following on her talk page:

You stated less than 24 hours ago that you were not going to edit-war at the Bouley page, yet, you *are* edit warring. In fact, this is day-two of you choosing to edit war there. In case you are not familiar with what edit warring really is, you might want to read WP's article on edit warring. Reverting the same thing several times is edit warring - it also puts you in danger of violating 3RR. Please - rather than just reverting stuff you don't like or agree with, talk about it first on the talk page. Please don't just blindly revert and plase don't shout in your edit summaries or use edit summaries to vent anger/frustration. If all of this unproductive and unhelpful behavior continues, I will have no choice but to get an administrator involved again (and you can believe that even though they haven't made themselves known yet, there are admins already watching what's going on at the Bouley article). Please, just stop this uncivil, uncooperative behavior and work within WP's policies and guidelines. If you don't, you are putting yourself in danger of being banned and having the article locked from editing once again. --SkagitRiverQueen (talk) 00:21, 15 February 2010 (UTC)

HMMMMMMMMM In the last few days Skagriver as made 27 edits and I made TWO! Despite her redundant explanation of Edit warring, I cannot see for the life of me how it applies! On second thought it is obviously untrue, as are many posts.

I see a neutrality box as been added. Thank you. Discussion of Skagriver's negative POV's is way overdue. Seaphoto thank you for your input. If only BOTH of us would follow it. I am not angry. I will not play her game. Please get an administrator involved. Please do not chastise , insult or threaten me again. If this is not possible, I suggest the article be locked again. Peace! JoyDiamond (talk) 13:58, 15 February 2010 (UTC) ┌─────────────────────────────────┘ Unfortunately, you really don't seem to be grasping what edit warring actually is. I suggest you read the article and description on WP's article on edit warring to get a clear picture of what it is and what it isn't. Editing an article 27 times over the period of a couple of days is not edit warring. It's just editing. Continually reverting and leaving unproductive remarks in the edit summary is edit warring. Of the two examples I just gave, you have been doing the latter - ergo, you have been edit warring. And please - stop commenting on editors, and keep your comments focused on edits and content. Commenting on editors is not productive, commenting on content and edits is. --SkagitRiverQueen (talk) 15:24, 15 February 2010 (UTC) JoyDiamond (talk) 01:07, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

Edit-warring

Hello, JoyDiamond! You seem to be in a long-standing edit-war with another editor on the Charles Karel Bouley article. This recent edit of yours, in the midst of what is occurring with the other editor, is highly inadvisable. It can very easily be viewed as, shall we say, "bad timing"? No one "wins" in an edit-war, and you may be surprised if you count your chickens before they hatch. Happy editing! Doc9871 (talk) 09:20, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

I'm sorry. I thought edit-warring referred to Wiki Articles. I don't understand why remarks on my own talk page could be considered "edit-warring" Please explain.JoyDiamond (talk) 13:42, 16 February 2010 (UTC)
Hi! Just got finished with some homework assignments, made it over to the article and read through the discussion. As soon as you delete sourced (or unsourced) content, please explain why on the talk page or at least in the edit summary. If you do this, it's far less likely that a good faith editor would get into an edit war with you. (No way this would have been sufficient in the article about Falafel, but I'd never seen the likes of that discussion.) Furthermore, I'm having difficulty following what was deleted and restored, when and why. How is the article, as far as you're concerned? --AFriedman (talk) 06:54, 18 February 2010 (UTC)
Still needs a LOT of work. Need to find references. He is known generally by just "Karel" so that issue needs to be addressed further. I think his firing is old news but not getting any support on that. ONE word was the delete/restore issue. That he was a "struggling" entertainer which is not true. It is getting there. "Falafel" blew my mind! Good luck!
Same old problem we discussed before continues, sigh...

My "Baby" sis went to hospice yesterday so it a really bad time for me.JoyDiamond (talk) 17:15, 18 February 2010 (UTC)

Sorry to hear about your little sis. BTW, if he's notable (which there's consensus about), his firing was a major part of his life and so I would say it belongs in the article. --AFriedman (talk) 22:42, 18 February 2010 (UTC)
I'm sorry about your sis too, but when you have a moment, can you please remove talkpage comments that have been copied from other talkpages (ie that were not placed here by the person who made those comments). Copy/pasting other people's comments here make it look like those comments are part of ongoing discussions, which can lead to confusion. Thanks in advance. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 17:43, 21 February 2010 (UTC)

Talk page content

I don't appreciate you taking stuff from my talk page without my permission. Perhaps you can explain what the purpose is? --SkagitRiverQueen (talk) 16:24, 19 February 2010 (UTC)

I refer you to your archives, to your response where I asked you the exact same questionJoyDiamond (talk) 00:22, 22 February 2010 (UTC)
What's in the past is in the past. Answer the question and stop playing games. --SkagitRiverQueen (talk) 01:44, 22 February 2010 (UTC)

One more opportunity

Joy - I am going to give you one more opportunity to answer my question regarding your reasons for taking content from my talk page and putting it on yours. If you do not answer within 24 hours with a response that gives a good reason for why the content was placed there and provide an acceptible explanation as to why you believe it should stay, I will be taking the issue to an administrator's notice board for comment. As it is currently, your talk page is filled with content that did not originate on your talk page. What's more, the edit history of the page shows you have refactored and edited a number of comments to show a different story than the original intent and context. Some of the content contains personal details about me (e.g., my full name). A lot of the content misrepresents me (and other WP editors), as the comments have been taken out of context and therefore edited (along with user signatures). A number of the headings are personal attacks. All of these things are against WP policy on talk pages. In short, the majority of the content is not an acceptible use of a WP talk page; if you want to view the content at a later date, you should delete it here and keep on your own home computer. --SkagitRiverQueen (talk) 05:55, 20 February 2010 (UTC)

I am at a loss as how to respond to you. The only editing I did was to remove some of the most unpleasant remarks in a gesture of good will. As I have explained before, as a hospice minister I am often gone for several days. I am currently at my sister's bedside in hospice and will not be posting until after her funeral.JoyDiamond (talk) 00:33, 22 February 2010 (UTC)
You claim you're at your sister's death bed and that's why you can't comply and answer my question, yet you spend another 1/2 hour on Misplaced Pages merely changing a few section titles? Sorry - but I don't buy it that being with your ill sister is keeping you from doing what you have been asked to do. I'm sorry your sister is gravely ill, however, if you can spend 45 minutes on Misplaced Pages doing what you did, you can take the time to remove the areas of concern I addressed above. Enough is enough, Joy. You've played your games of innocence and "who me?" in here for too long. I gave you more than enough time to take care of this - you have given me no choice but to take this issue elsewhere. --SkagitRiverQueen (talk) 01:51, 22 February 2010 (UTC)

SRQ, Joy has removed the post that was originally on your Talk page. Joy, thanks for removing the post. Also, I agree that this Talk page would better comply with "No personal attacks" if all the content from 2009 and earlier were deleted or archived. Joy, what are your thoughts about doing this? --AFriedman (talk) 02:10, 22 February 2010 (UTC)

Joy, as per your request I've set MiszaBot to work on this Talk page. We'll see if this works--I've never used an archiving bot before. --AFriedman (talk) 03:32, 22 February 2010 (UTC)

TES 1959~2010

My condolences to you. Very sad. I'm sure you miss her. --AFriedman (talk) 17:25, 7 March 2010 (UTC)

Thank you AFriedman. I am devastated by her loss and miss her beyond belief. There has yet to be a funeral, which exacerbates the grieving process.JoyDiamond (talk) 15:07, 9 March 2010 (UTC)

Not "orders", just advice for the good of the project as a whole

I'm sorry you see me pointing things out to you as "giving orders". The deal is that Wikipedians are accountable to other Wikipedians. I care about the Misplaced Pages project as a whole. I care about the Bouley article. I care that it stay free from POV. A good number of your edits in the article have been decidedly POV. In fact, since you came to Misplaced Pages, the majority of your edits have been to the Bouley article and you have been battling over it since you got here. Bouley himself has tried to rework this article with POV edits. The two of you together tried to rework the article with POV edits (are you seeing a pattern here?). If you would stop trying to push POV so hard and work on the article for the sake of the Misplaced Pages project as a whole (IOW, seeing the tree as being for the forest rather than vice-versa), you would probably enjoy your time here more. Try working on other articles. Start your own article. Work with other editors and learn better how Misplaced Pages works. These are not "orders", they are friendly suggestions. I personally get frustrated by the fact that you've been here for a long time, yet still don't grasp some basic concepts about Misplaced Pages editing. I'm pretty certain others do,too. Try working on other articles with other editors, and your understanding of WP will increase.

Not orders, just advice for the good of the project. -SkagitRiverQueen (talk) 16:02, 9 March 2010 (UTC)

I repeat again: I have NEVER worked with Karel on this article. As far as working on other articles, I have done that; only to be hounded and the victim of more edit wars. Please stop following me around Wiki as two other editors have suggested. Please cease and desist these fallacious accusations and not so friendly and condescending suggestions. JoyDiamond (talk) 03:14, 10 March 2010 (UTC)
Sorry, but no. I will not "cease and desist" because there is nothing wrong with me making suggestions that are for the good of the article and the good of the project. You have admitted previously that you have not only worked for Bouley in the past but that you two have been friends. As recently as last month, you were doing promotion for him on a popular social networking site. Bouley himself came to my talk page on your behalf to ask me to stop editing the article about him because you were editing what he wanted you to edit (have you forgotten that happened?) I'm not "following you around" and there have been no "fallacious accusations". I am not going away from the Bouley article. Period. --SkagitRiverQueen (talk) 03:20, 10 March 2010 (UTC)

Karel's words

From Karel (Karel 1)

Greetings Xxxxx:

It's Karel here. I understand you've been having Wikki wars with Joy Diamond over my page. I keep correcting your biased comments and you keep changing them back. Whereas I'm a public figure, I have contacted Misplaced Pages and they'll be taking care of this for me from here on in.

But know this: Andrew did not die of AIDS and I never told anyone he did. If I was misquoted, so be it, but as the AUTOPSY will attest, he DID not DIE of AIDS. He did have complications worsened by AIDS medications that did cause his death, however. A blod clot, too much cholesterol caused by AIDS drugs. I was not fired the times you say I was. We were not fired and replaced by Phil Hendrie. You have it all wrong, actually. Some parts right, mostly wrong. I was never in the paparrazzi, ever, I was a studio and location photographer hired by specific magazines to gain specific shots. Never stalked an artist in my life. As for struggling stand up, I was paying the bills, so how struggling is that?

In any event, you seem to want to have everything seem negative about me, and that's fine, but it's not your right on this site. Start your own. So there will be corrections made to the page and then the page will be locked. So much of what you say is biased, from the Tony Snow piece (it was not removed or taken down, I rewrote it and reposted on my own volition without being asked, because I knew everyone would be missing the point). I did not "blame" the engineer unduly, he has responsibility for what is broadcast on the station when he's working the board and he let out obscenties. All these things, that you don't know because you weren't there. I was.

So again, we will be making corrections and then locking the page. You are more than welcome to start a site ihatekarel.com and print whatever distortions you like.

Have a great weekend.

Karel

(Preceding statement left unsigned by unregistered editor using IP Address 96.240.42.157, 18 September 2009, 19:13 PST) September 2009 (UTC) UPDATE: The article *was* locked, but not because Karel demanded it (the article is about him, it is not owned by him - apparently, that fact hasn't occurred to him yet...?), but due to an editor requesting it. Currently, the article is locked for three days (beginning 09/21/09) SkagitRiverQueen (talk) 23:26, 22 September 2009 (UTC) Again (Karel 2)

Again, your hostile tone and dodging of the real issues prove my point. I don't care what you reference, I know the chronology of things, when and how it happened and from what. I have supplied that information, and proof to wikipedia, and they have agreed to lock the page upon my request.

I don't care who writes the thing, it just needs to be correct. Your revisions are not, are biased, and continue to provide an inaccurate and skewed picture. I'll take my lumps when necessary, but I won't allow something referenced so much to be so skewed.

I do appreciate your correcting any grammar and spelling errors, however.

Karel

Oh, and my studio is at home, so the IP address does not mean I am doing the editing. I have a production staff here often and they make changes. Although I like being referred to as "he."

(Preceding statement left unsigned by unregistered editor using IP Address 96.240.42.157, 18 September 2009, 22:26 PST)

I have added this to demonstrate at least three fallacies stated by SRQ above. SRQ stalked me to both the John Tran & Margaret Clark articles. May I point out that at NO time did Karel say he was giving me ANY input to the article. I did leave out a long rant by SRQ, and incidentally this correspondence seems to have disappeared from her archives. JoyDiamond (talk) 12:57, 10 March 2010 (UTC)

I am adding this per the instructions on the archive page. "If you wish to start a new discussion or revive an old one, please do so on the current talk page." Since SRQ revived an old discussion, I felt the true information was appropriate here. I hope I am not violating yet another "rule" of which I am not aware. I am hoping that the honest "truth" will override any objections. JoyDiamond (talk) 04:53, 10 March 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for the heads up.

Misplaced Pages:Blogs as sources This is a failed proposal. Consensus in its favor was not established within a reasonable period of time. This page in a nutshell: "Blog" is just a technical description of a website's structure and layout. Like any source, a blog may be appropriate to use as an article reference as long as certain conditions are met, some of which are specific to blogs.JoyDiamond (talk) 07:58, 10 March 2010 (UTC)

On the subject of references, where exactly is the "credible source" for the excerpt from the original article in Huffington Post? I can't seem to find it anywhere. JoyDiamond (talk) 12:52, 10 March 2010 (UTC) Clarification: I am referring to the excerpt used by SRQ in the Karel article.JoyDiamond (talk) 21:57, 10 March 2010 (UTC)

Tonight, you have edited under two different users, neither of which is your new account name, User:DocOfSoc. You need to pick one and stick with it. 3RR reminder

You are in danger of violating the 3RR rule at the article John Tran. Discussing edits first on the article talk page before reverting is preferable to the approach you are currently taking. On another note - the importance and necessity of providing an edit summary has been pointed out to you previously. It is especially important to do so when reverting the actions of other editors; not adding an edit summary can be seen as hostile and/or dismissive. --SkagitRiverQueen (talk) 05:27, 20 March 2010 (UTC)

As stated these edits had been previously discussed at length AND I left another discussion and an edit summary. I have NO idea you are talking about once again. DocOfSoc (talk) 05:34, 20 March 2010 (UTC)
