I'm actually not very young, and I've been editing Misplaced Pages successfully for a while. I've only just created an actual account recently. I didn't bother due to frustrations with editors who use the rules to ruin articles people have worked so hard on. I saw it happen a lot. The infamous Wild ARMs debate was what finally made me lose interest in editing for a long time, and it still hasn't been fixed. Wish an admin would do something about that. Anyway, I had always been told that edits only needed to be sourced if people questioned whether or not they were true, since otherwise, you'd have to source pretty much every single sentence, and that would be quite impossible and messy. Perhaps this all could have been avoided if Golden had simply told me how to add sources, rather than just undo my edits and warn me.] (]) 04:32, 27 April 2011 (UTC)

To clarify my gender, I am a male. If you need to speak with me, please post new messages at the bottom of the talk page and I will respond here or on the relevant article's talk page. If I left a note/welcome on your talk page, you may respond there or on my talk page as I would most likely see it. Previous talk page discussions or block notices (that I have been blocked for) from my talk page at my discretion. Please note that any comments which I find to be incivil, insulting, threatening (including death threats and legal threats), full of profanity or vulgarities, bullying or harassing, vandalism, flame baiting, personal attacks, trolling, as well as labeling my good faith edits as vandalism, will be deleted. In an event where there is ongoing or severe vandalism (from IP users or sockpuppeteers) on this page, a request for page protection will be immediately reported. Please note that the Signpost deliveries will be automatically archived at User talk:Sjones23/Signpost. Thanks.

Admin coaching

Hello. I noticed your request for a coach over at Admin coaching, and I'm available. If you do not currently have an admin coach, I would be glad to be your coach. I do have a few of conditions though, and they are that you:

  1. watch your coaching page closely, and reply to every post there in a timely fashion
  2. fill in all of your edit summaries (if you find yourself forgetting, there's a setting in "my preferences" that will remind you)
  3. complete all the assignments you are given to the best of your ability. If you have trouble with an assignment, by all means, let me know, so we can discuss possible solutions and alternatives.
  4. don't go for your RfA or accept an RfA nomination except from me - I will nominate you when I believe you are ready

Please let me know if you agree, and we can get started.

I look forward to your reply.

King of 02:54, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

I have created the page User:Sjones23/Admin coaching, from which I will coordinate the coaching. Right now, it's pretty much blank, but I'll add more to it as we go. Be sure to check on it regularly. I'll start off by asking you the standard RfA questions on the page. Best regards, King of 03:04, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

Qui

Hi. I would recommend that you get Qui, a tool that allows users to view each other's status more easily. This way, I can know when it is convenient to contact you, and vice versa. After you get it, just add me to your friends list. Note: It doesn't work very well in Internet Explorer, so if you have that, might be time to get Firefox. -- King of 23:05, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

Admin coaching (2)

Have you read my note at User:Sjones23/Admin coaching? Sorry I didn't make this clear at the beginning, but when you have read a comment of mine on any of the coaching pages, please reply to acknowledge receipt of the comment. -- King of 15:57, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

Hi. You might want to see the new note I added to User:Sjones23/Admin coaching. (Don't forget to watchlist your admin coaching page if you haven't done so already. I general, reply to every message I add, even if your reply is just "OK I got it." This way I know that you read it.) Cheers, King of 03:30, 17 May 2009 (UTC)

Admin coaching

Sorry I haven't contacted you in a long time. I was actually a little busy myself. So how is it going? If you have anything new to add, anything you learned, or any questions you would like to ask me, feel free to make a comment at User:Sjones23/Admin coaching#July 2009. -- King of 18:17, 12 July 2009 (UTC)

Just checking up

How's it going? Anything new? -- King of 06:33, 10 December 2009 (UTC)

Everything's going okay for me. I am currently on a vacation from college doing a music major, so I am now active on Misplaced Pages. Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 15:08, 10 December 2009 (UTC)

You are now a Reviewer

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Misplaced Pages:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Karanacs (talk) 17:35, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

WikiCup 2011 March newsletter

We are half way through round two of the WikiCup, which will end on 28 April. Of the 64 current contestants, 32 will make it through to the next round; the two highest in each pool, and the 16 next highest scorers. At the time of writing, our current overall leader is Zanzibar Hurricanehink (submissions) with 231 points, who leads Pool H. Poland Piotrus (submissions) (Pool G) also has over 200 points, while 9 others (three of whom are in Pool D) have over 100 points. Remember that certain content (specifically, articles/portals included in at least 20 Wikipedias as of 31 December 2010 or articles which are considered "vital") is worth double points if promoted to good or featured status, or if it appears on the main page in the Did You Know column. There were some articles last round which were eligible for double points, but which were not claimed for. For more details, see Misplaced Pages:WikiCup/Scoring.

A running total of claims can be seen here. However, numerous competitors are yet to score at all- please remember to submit content soon after it is promoted, so that the judges are able to review entries. The number of points that will be needed to reach round three is not clear- everyone needs to get their entries in now to guarantee their places! If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, and you hope to get it promoted before the end of the round, please list it on Misplaced Pages:WikiCup/Reviews. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAC, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup. As ever, questions are welcome on Misplaced Pages talk:WikiCup and the judges are reachable on their talk pages, or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start receiving or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Misplaced Pages:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. yankee stadium

I dont understand why my edits were taken down from about yankee stadium and considered vandalism. this is a homework assignment. i added a picture that i took of the yankee lockeroom during construction. i also mentioned that the hole from where the jersey was buried remains as part of the tour. i know this from working at the stadium and i believe it is just as interesting as the rest of the story of the jersey and man who did it Johnnyh24 (talk) 01:05, 7 April 2011 (UTC) John Hayes

Hello. When you upload images, you must first upload it from our sister site, the Wikimedia Commons. After this, you may file a fair use rationale in the image section and place it in an appropriate place. As for the mention about the hole from where the jersey was buried, it should stay. Make sense? Darth Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 01:22, 7 April 2011 (UTC)

I did put the image in wikimedia commons, but was uncategorized, i may have put it in the wrong part of the page, this is all new to me and just a college homework assignment about editing wikipedia. as for my text edit on the hole in which the jersey was buried, you said it should stay, but it was removed twice almost immediately and told it is vandalism — Preceding unsigned comment added by Johnnyh24 (talkcontribs) 05:01, 10 April 2011 (UTC)

Sorry, my mistake. I mistakenly thought that image removal was "vandalism." Thanks, Darth Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 19:00, 10 April 2011 (UTC)

Test templates

Hi. I have undone the changes you made to the {{test}} family of templates. As noted in Template talk:Test, the templates retain their original wording and structure to accommodate editors who wish to continue using the versions made prior to the {{uw-vandalism}} template family being created. Modifying the templates the way you did only makes them superfluous to the uw-v templates, which defeats the whole purpose of keeping them this way. Titoxd 01:22, 13 April 2011 (UTC)

Hmm, I see now. Thanks, Darth Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 01:32, 13 April 2011 (UTC)

Edit war on Silent Hill (video game)

As you are a recent contributor to Silent Hill (video game), I'm just letting you know I have protected the article for a week as there is an edit war still continuing there. Should you wish to make contentious changes once the protection expires, please try to get a consensus on the Talk page first, or you may risk being blocked for edit-warring. (Note: I am copying this same, or a similar, message to all recent editors of the article - the prohibition against edit-warring applies whether or not you are right about the content) -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 10:03, 26 April 2011 (UTC)

My mistake - I'd looked at the wrong diff and had thought the edit war was continuing, when in fact someone had reverted an unconnected edit. I have unprotected the article. -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 10:16, 26 April 2011 (UTC)
No hard feelings. At least the disruptive user has been blocked and will probably continue after his block. Darth Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 12:12, 26 April 2011 (UTC)

Don't re-add the talk page post

When the person removes the post, it is assumed that the person has read the post. They are within their rights to remove things from their talk page, except for declined unblock requests while the block is still active and a few other exceptions. --Diannaa 02:40, 27 April 2011 (UTC)

For that, I am really sorry. I understand what you mean and I was only trying to help make sure the disruption does not get out of hand. Thanks, Diannaa. Darth Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 02:41, 27 April 2011 (UTC)
It's ok, you did not know that rule but now you know. --Diannaa 02:47, 27 April 2011 (UTC)
Thanks. Your comments are very much appreciated. I have a suggestion: Can you please close the discussion at Silent Hill since we have established consensus and remove Yomiel's impolite comment at Zebedee's talk page? Thanks, Darth Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 02:53, 27 April 2011 (UTC)
His comment has to stay on Boing's talk; I can only remove personal attacks, which this is not. I am not going to get involved in the content dispute at Silent Hill; that would give the impression that an admin has endorsed a particular version of the article. You folks will have to sort out the content dispute amongst the interested editors. And it looks like Y is asking for some coaching in how to add his citations! That's good. Please re-post at ANI or on my Talk if the problems continue. Good luck. Regards, --Diannaa 03:08, 27 April 2011 (UTC)
Thank you for your comments. Your words are very comforting. That way, we can fully resolve the content dispute at Silent Hill. All the best, Darth Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 03:10, 27 April 2011 (UTC)
By the way, Diannaa, I apologized to the user in question for this dispute and have resolved the situation and I have told the other admins that the situation is resolved and the RFC has been closed. Darth Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 03:39, 27 April 2011 (UTC)
Yes, I just saw that. That was a great idea and will help diffuse the tension. I think Yomiel might be very young but if he is coached a bit he could turn into a good editor one day. --Diannaa 03:43, 27 April 2011 (UTC)
I know. I usually try and diffuse situations many times, but I had unfortunately lost my patience that time. So, for that, I apologize. By the way, is it possible if a user such as myself can get involved as an adoptee in the adopt-a-user program in helping newcomers out? Darth Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 04:03, 27 April 2011 (UTC)
