Hi mate. Have you read Komanski & Siekierka book? I will send you parts per mail if you want. First read then criticize. I have many arguments: 1. Motyka is adding in Ukraińska Partyzantka some refferences to Siekierka's book, 2. This book is based on reccoletions published in Karta Center, 3. The book were reviewed by historians (look at Chodaczkow talk page), 4. I have found about 8 additional sources on webpages about number of victims. First try to answer them. I'm not supposed to add further comments to the ANE page, so I thought I'd send one to you here. It is not about him disagreeing with me at all (I have no problem with disagreement per se) but about grossly uncivilized behavior. Just to clarify, Loosmark hasn't been involved in the massacres article in any significant way: so this is not at all about keeping him from making edits either; he's hardly making them. It's about making very ugly accusations about me and lowering the tone of the discussion which gets in the way of collaborative work. That kind of behavior should not be tolerated.Faustian (talk) 03:27, 12 September 2009 (UTC)

Arbitration case regarding the Eastern European mailing list

The Arbitration Committee recently passed a motion to open a case to investigate allegations surrounding a private Eastern European mailing list. The contents of the motion can be viewed here.

You have been named as one of the parties to this case at the request of the Arbitration Committee, here. Please take note of the explanations given in italics at the top of that section; if you have any further questions about the list of parties, please feel free to contact me on my talk page.

The Committee has explicitly requested that evidence be presented within one week of the case opening; ie. by September 25. Evidence can be presented on the evidence subpage of the case; please ensure that you follow the Committee instructions regarding the responsible and appropriate submission of evidence, as set out in the motion linked previously, should you choose to present evidence.

Please further note that, due to the exceptional nature of this case (insofar as it centers on the alleged contents of a private mailing list), the Committee has decided that the normal workshop format will not be used. The notice near the top of the cases' workshop page provides a detailed explanation of how it will be used in this case.

For the Arbitration Committee,

Okęcie Airport Incident

Hi mate;

I've become enthralled with this topic; I find it absolutely fascinating. I'm interested in working it all the way up to FAC, but I sadly can't speak Polish: would you be up for working together on this one with me?

On the same subject, do you know anywhere where we can find a public domain image of Terlecki?

Cheers, – Cliftonian 20:33, 27 September 2009 (UTC)

Grand! :) The internet is a good source, but to get the article really up to scratch we may need to look elsewhere. You may or may not have noticed the work I've done on Luton Town F.C. page as well as those branching off it – I've given the wikilinks below. The majority of the information I garnered for these came from books; on the most part I used two in conjunction: a stats book (to give me results, goalscorers, player records etc.) and a "story" book (to give me background). Using these two sources (as well as some supplementary ones) it was possible to bring these pages significantly up in standard.
Because the internet is a relatively new invention, not everything is covered (at least not before 1992 or so...). Its coverage is slanted towards the big teams, and if you're not Manchester United or Arsenal you don't get much coverage from the internet. Believe you me, if we were talking about a "Heathrow Airport Incident" involving English players we would have no trouble at all using the internet alone!
If you've got any kind of Polish football history book, that would be very helpful indeed. If not, then we'll just have to dig through the internet for data like robots.
Cheers fella. Keep well. – Cliftonian 07:53, 28 September 2009 (UTC)

Nice work fella, I don't have much time myself but I'll just get through ref formatting and making it flow better. Just a little point: didn't Młynarczyk get banned from club football? For how long? Cheers – Cliftonian 07:29, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
I reckon we could (I don't reckon it's far off at the moment, actually). I'll have a shufty round to see if I can find any Polish football history books – if I can find a couple, I reckon we could even get it to FA.
Keep well mate. – Cliftonian 07:24, 7 October 2009 (UTC)

Nortom

Te zeznania zbiera ośrodek Karta i publikuje.

Siekierki is not an academic. What you seem to be doing is searching for unreliable surces that are obscure enough that they have not been explictly condenmed (yet) by academics. The fact that he is published by Nortom and not by a legitimate academic press is enough. Nobody here is playing games. We only want reliable sources on controversial topics. Find stuff by Motyka, not Siekierki. Just because Motyka might cite a fact or two from Sikiertka doesn't mean much - reliable historian Orest Subtelny cites stuff from UPA-published books, yet that does not mean we should treat UPA-published books themselvesas a legitimate source. Likewise with SiekierkiFaustian (talk) 15:32, 1 October 2009 (UTC)
--Paweł5586 (talk) 21:08, 1 October 2009 (UTC)
Siekierki is a political activist not a historian. A historian needs to verify the facts he has collected before it is included. And just because a historian included one fact does not mean all of Sikierki's facts are correct (similarly, just because a historian cites a fact from a book written by UPA, it does not mean that everything written in that UPA is correct). Misplaced Pages policy is clear, that articles are not based on primary sources (such as eyewitness testimony) but on secondary sources. See WP:PSTS.Faustian (talk) 22:32, 1 October 2009 (UTC)
I feel like playing monkey in the middle here, with arguments being tossed over my head like a ball. I have stated it many times - if we want the Ukrainians not to use dubious sources, we have to act in the same way. However, I cannot really solve this argument, perhaps someone unbiased, uninvolved, and with lots of knowledge might help. I would suggest user Peters Vecrumba, provided that he agrees to help. Udział w tych akcjach ukraińskich formacji SS przyczyniał się być może do niezwykle brutalnego ich przebiegu, jak w Hucie Pieniackiej czy Chodaczkowie Wielkim. 15/16 kwietnia 1944 oddziały 4 Pułku SS wymordowały w Chodaczkowie Wielkim w pobliżu Tarnopola - w strefie przyfrontowej 250 do 854 (według różnych źródeł) polskich mieszkańców wsi.

Speedy deletion nomination of Tęgoborze Prophecy

Please refrain from introducing inappropriate pages, such as Tęgoborze Prophecy, to Misplaced Pages. Doing so is not in accordance with our policies. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Misplaced Pages talk:WikiProject Poland

Our project is becoming more and more active, recently we started doing proper B-class reviews. I'd like to invite you to watchlist the page (if you haven't already) and participate in our discussions. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 19:53, 5 March 2011 (UTC)

Lesser Poland

Hello Tymek --

I think that the History section of Lesser Poland is much longer and more detailed than necessary for the article. (By this I mean that it is much longer and more detailed than other equally important sections.) What do you think of the idea of splitting the history into a History of Lesser Poland article, and having just a summary and {{main}} left in the History section of Lesser Poland? --Mûĸĸâĸûĸâĸû (blah?) 02:57, 23 April 2011 (UTC)

Monitor. WikiProject Poland Newsletter: Issue 1 (April 2011)

WikiProject Poland Newsletter • April 2011
For our freedom and yours

Welcome to our first issue of WikiProject Poland newsletter, the Monitor (named after the first Polish newspaper).

Our Project has been operational since 1 June, 2005, and also serves as the Poland-related Misplaced Pages notice board. I highly recommend watchlisting the Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Poland page, so you can be aware of the ongoing discussions. We hope you will join us in them, if you haven't done so already! Unlike many other WikiProjects, we are quite active; in this year alone about 40 threads have been started on our discussion page, and we do a pretty good job at answering all issues raised.

In addition to a lively encyclopedic, Poland-related, English-language discussion forum, we have numerous useful tools that can be of use to you - and that you could help us maintain and develop:

This is not all; on our page you can find a list of useful templates (including userboxes), awards and other tools!

With all that said, how about you join our discussions at WT:POLAND? Surely, there must be something you could help others with, or perhaps you are in need of assistance yourself?

You have received this newsletter because you are listed as a at WikiProject Poland. • Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 21:11, 25 April 2011 (UTC)

Ref name

You can reduce the code clutter by using ref name function, see this. It is rather simple; instead of repreating the same ref many times, you add name=blah to the first one (so it becomes <ref name=blah>ref text</ref>), and all others can be just <ref name=blah/>. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 18:31, 11 July 2011 (UTC)

DYK for 1989 Polish prison riots

Updated DYK queryOn 23 July 2011, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article 1989 Polish prison riots, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that as political prisoners were released due to the fall of communism in Poland, regular prisoners rioted, demanding better conditions and an amnesty? You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

Another nomination promoted by the DYK project. Well done. Victuallers (talk) 00:04, 23 July 2011 (UTC)
