In February 2012 she signed a record deal with Relentless Records. Her debut single, "Home Run" was released on 15 July 2012, with an album penned for a late 2012 release.

Early life

Misha B is from Manchester. Born to a single mother Florence, she was raised from 3-months old on by her aunt Lily, as her mother could not take care of her. Her father is unknown. Misha started singing seriously aged 14, and says that singing was 'my way of understanding myself'. Before X Factor she sang on the open mic circuit and busked in Manchester to tackle her stage fright. She also played football for the Manchester United under-16s.

2011: The X Factor

Main article: The X Factor (UK series 8)

In 2011, Bryan auditioned in Manchester for the eighth series of The X Factor, singing Aretha Franklin's "Respect". She gained a standing ovation from the audience and received four "yeses" from judges Louis Walsh, Gary Barlow, Tulisa Contostavlos and Kelly Rowland. At bootcamp she sang her version of "Survivor" and at judges' houses she performed Nicki Minaj and Rihanna's "Fly". For the first three weeks, Misha sung "Rolling In The Deep", "Would I Lie to You?" and "Purple Rain". In week four she sung "Tainted Love", but was in the bottom two and had to sing for survival in the final showdown against Sophie Habibis. After singing "Use Somebody" as her survival song, she was unanimously saved by the judges, though Barlow's vote was unnecessary for the result. For the fifth week, Misha performed "Proud Mary".

In week six, Misha sang "Born This Way", but again she landed in the final showdown against Kitty Brucknell and sang "Who You Are" as her survival song. Walsh voted to eliminate her, but Contostavlos, Rowland and Barlow voted to save her. On week seven, Misha sung "I Have Nothing". Barlow also told Misha "I want to see the Misha B we saw at the first audition", which led to Misha singing "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" and "Killing Me Softly with His Song" on the eighth week. Misha B ended up in the final showdown for the third time in week eight, and sung "Out on My Own", with Walsh and Conotstavlos saving her, and Rowland refusing to vote between her and Janet Devlin, meaning Misha was saved. Barlow afterwards said that he would have also saved her. On 4 December, Misha sang "Dancing in the Street" and "Perfect", but she was voted out of the competition, finishing in 4th place. During week 3 of the live shows, allogations were made against Bryan before a live television audience of 11.893 million.
