Hi there-- Redirects are cheap, as they say. I don't see any problems with those. It's a very obscure terminology which appeals to some people who used to be called "pseudotranssexuals" or "non-transsexuals" but who identify as transsexual. David Wynn Miller

Hello Jokestress...

I don't see why you would remove from the article about Miller the fact that he alleges he died in 1975. It is a significant part of his life, his purported abilities, and his accomplishments. So it seems to me it belongs there. At any rate, the reference is found in one of the youtube videos from his Quantum Grammar seminar.

At about 3 minutes and 30 seconds into the video he says he was dead for 35 minutes. Here is the link.

I have chosen to contact you as you requested. As you may know, Fark.com has been hemorrhaging people since about 2007. As a fark member since early 2001 I can say I have seen its influence grow and wane over the years. It is my opinion that the reason for fark's declining influence is the dissatisfaction felt by the members over the growing epidemic of "shadowbanning" where people are effectively removed from the site without evidence, notification, or any way of even telling that you've been removed except clearing your cookies.

You mention that the "controversy" didn't "appear constructive" and yet I truly believe that it is. It is factual, up to date, and I did not include any personal opinions in it like I have in this posting. (Specifically, my claim in the above paragraph that Fark's shadowbanning policy is likely the reason for their declining relevance.)

I intend to reinstate the section but I will allow you a few hours to do so on your own. Nice to meet you,

I've kibbitzed a little about this dispute (it offers a far more serious opportunity to apply principles of separation of Wiki from extraneous activities that I had proposed in the Fae case). I should note that to me, as an outsider, your evidence about Bailey seems mystifying - it is not clear why you spend so much time in your presentation describing the foibles of a third party. Even if all of sexology can somehow be partitioned as pro-Bailey and anti-Bailey, even so, I'm not sure it's all that relevant. (If this were an arbitration between a liberal and a conservative, would the budget deficit be admissible?) If there is a strong direct relationship between Cantor and Bailey in some kind of on-wiki editing then you should make that clear; otherwise, it might be better to swap in more relevant data about your and Cantor's relationship instead. I should note in particular that the "fucksaw" thing is amusing but not persuasive to me - as one would not expect a medical course in gross anatomy to proceed without an autopsy, it seems like Bailey was taking what I would call a "forsane" position (i.e. more sane than most people) and suffered for it.

It is of course entirely possible that I've missed your point and I shouldn't have, but I just wanted to give you feedback. I am sympathetic to some of your position about overmedicalization of behavioral diversity though I view purveyors of transgender surgeries with equal suspicion. The most ironic thing about that citation is that I take it that both you and Cantor would agree, generally, that pedophilia is not a strictly isolated phenomenon of people attracted to prepubescents but has a long tail of people who are affected to a lesser degree, which to my intuition seems like an important step in the right direction. To me, it seems like the problem of pedophilia will be over with when you look up porn on the Internet and find lots of pictures of sexy 40- and 50-year-olds mixed in the natural ratio of the population; it seems bound up with the question of why adults' preferences are being driven in age-inappropriate but legal directions. Unfortunately, that source makes it sound like small differences in how the disease in defined are a sectarian battle in which small differences in religious doctrine can translate to people being locked up for life rather than freed for the exact same actions - but innately, properly, the decision of what to believe in ought to be made as freely as when people (in modern times) decide between Homoousian and Homoiousian. I would like Misplaced Pages to be a zone of "psychiatric religious freedom" in which all faiths can express themselves without having to fight each other over who is right. Thanks for your note. It became clear from the request section that some people were going to start making up their minds before they saw all the evidence. The background material I have up for now is simply a placeholder to give context about the off-wiki disputes. My material about on-wiki conduct will contextualize that information. You'll note that most folks who come unhinged in response to this are academics, have science backgrounds, hold rigid medicalized worldviews, or some combination of the three. This dispute challenges the belief systems of some people, so they have very strong emotional responses. That upsets them too, because they consider themselves rational, objective people. The cognitive dissonance is not something they usually feel when considering "science." Add sex and consent to the emotional mix and kablooey! Gaskets are blown. Well, be careful not to overgeneralize. My background is academic and scientific (but "real biology" :), and to me, psychiatry doesn't seem scientific enough. To continue with the previous example, I see no evidence in a search that anyone has ever taken pedophiles out to Nevada and let them pick out a sex worker, seeing how far they can get while periodically looking at fMRI and compared it to non-pedophiles with special attention to the regions reported to be lesioned in some individual pedophiles examined. I don't see evidence anyone has tried testing with pheromones, which to me seem of primary importance in altering and updating sexual perceptions. It ever galls me that our whole society is half nuts with fear over this condition, using it as an excuse to undermine basic axioms of freedom of communications, and we don't try the most obvious first-pass ideas to try to cure it; but I imagine we don't even know the full extent of the fallout, for example on age discrimination and on elderly couples who stop feeling attracted to one another. Anyway, I realize I'm off topic here, but when it comes to your case, I hope everyone will be able to focus tightly on the on-wiki interaction, which reflects not only your differences of opinion but also some inept Misplaced Pages policies I would like to fix. Bailey, Blanchard et al in academics

Hi, you are surely busy but I had an idea that may help. To me one of the core issues is the self-promotional nature of Bailey, Blanchard and crew. Someone else countered how many academic sites as evidence the subject(s) were not fringe. I wonder if examining how many of those cites are self-referencing vs. how many dispute their findings might be informative? I know it's complex but every time I look into this I notice how it seems like a walled garden is being nurtured along. Hope all goes well and keep up the good work! Yeah. That's what led to the creation of this diagram. The source from which this all pours forth is this CAMH nexus. Sorry to but in, but redirects such as this should be encouraged (along with most combinations of the factors you mention) because they are very likely search terms. Redirects exist to enable people to find the articles they are looking for, whether they know Misplaced Pages's naming conventions or not (and particularly if they don't). I know little about this sort of music, but do occasionally listen to Classic FM, so my exposure to the titles is mostly by hearing it rather than reading it. I would be particularly unlikely to guess that "number" should be abbreviated, doubly so as the naming conventions for the areas of Misplaced Pages I'm most familiar with (rail transport, geography and language) generally avoid abbreviations. Hey! Just stopping by to say "Hey!". I've been busy with biochemistry and differential equations these last few months, but it's good to see that my slack has been picked up, so to speak. I'll be back in a few weeks once exams have finished up and maybe actually start writing some of these articles that need pages instead of just redirecting. The progress page estimates that the Stanford Archives will be done on May 13, 2014, and I must say: Challenge accepted. Anyways, it's kind of nice to know that I'm not the only one out there trying to destroy this monster, as it were. Film producer

Todd Lieberman tried to write his own article and made a bit of a mess. I don't know if it is in your field to expand. There is lots of RS on the net and you may have some handy in your area. His people are working on getting me a photos under free licenses. I will upload them to commons, help them with OTRS etc., and link his commons category to the article. Thank you ever so much. The user posted first at help desk wanting an article on 'himself'. No way to no for sure though. I emailed his PR for images and explained how Misplaced Pages works and I think they trust us with the article now. I gave them a COI link, etc. Once any images arrive then I will add those. If I don't hear from them then I will send one more email. If Larry Thomas (actor) is kicking around there you may wish to ask if he wishes to pose in as The Soup Nazi character for that article. I noticed the Comic-Con post above and may ask in that project as well. We have another notable person, User:Bebad2013/sandbox, that I have been helping with images. Her article is still in draft space but due to go live in the first week of May when more sources are published. May I ask you to take a peek at that one now or when ready? Same issue with COI creating one in a sandbox. I came across it with image copyright issues at commons. She forwarded images and email permissions from the photographers to me and they are in the OTRS backlog at commons now.
