GOCE March drive newsletter

Guild of Copy Editors March 2012 backlog elimination drive update

GOCE March 2012 Backlog Elimination progress graphs

Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors March 2012 Backlog elimination drive! Here's the mid-drive newsletter.

Participation: We have had 58 people sign up for this drive so far, which compares favorably with our last drive, and 27 have copy-edited at least one article. If you have signed up but have not yet copy-edited any articles, please consider doing so. Every bit helps! If you haven't signed up yet, it's not too late. Join us!

Progress report: Our target of completing the 2010 articles has almost been reached, with only 56 remaining of the 194 we had at the start of the drive. The last ones are always the most difficult, so thank you if you are able to help copy-edit any of the remaining articles. We have reduced the total backlog by 163 articles so far.

Special thanks: Special thanks to Stfg, who has been going through the backlog and doing some preliminary vetting of the articles—removing copyright violations, doing initial clean-up, and nominating some for deletion. This work has helped make the drive a more pleasant experience for all our volunteers.

Your drive coordinators – Dianna (talk), Stfg (talk), and Dank (talk)

Children in the Israeli–Palestinian conflict

Hi Soosim, regarding your addition to the talk page, I would kindly ask you to remove it from the page as it is not related to the purpose of the page: discussing improvements to the article. If you must you can add the comment to the editor's talk page. If you want some advice, I can assure you that adding a cn tag is not counted as a revert under the 1rr regulations (apart from in the specific case that someone has previously removed the tag from the same position). Dlv999 (talk) 17:11, 22 April 2013 (UTC)

Or strike it since I've replied. I must admit I've been losing my temper at so many of your inaccurate/ill informed criticisms. Why not just look at the relevant policy page from now on and make sure you have it right. That's what I do when I'm not quite sure or need a review. Quoting the policy is even more effective in getting people on the same page - or at least make sure they're discussing the same issue. CarolMooreDC🗽 18:34, 22 April 2013 (UTC)
the policy says nothing about adding "cn" which was an edit to something which had been edited previously. but, that is why i was asking not accusing. chill out my friends, chill out. life is good. Soosim (talk) 05:09, 23 April 2013 (UTC)
Adding anything is not a revert, i.e., because per Misplaced Pages:Edit warring "A revert means undoing the actions of another editor." (now it could be vandalism if a bunch of junk or an excessive number of tags (like one after every sentence in a section, instead of a section tag) or whatever was added, but that's a separate issue.) CarolMooreDC🗽 05:38, 23 April 2013 (UTC)

Soosim, regarding these comments, this is the second time in a week that you have used the talk page of this article to make inappropriate remarks about another editor. Article talk pages are not for engaging in feuds with other editors, it is for discussing content only. Your comment is about another editor it is inappropriate and disruptive, please self revert. To address the actual comment, discussing the edits of another editor is not a personal attack, it is a perfectly legitimate response top bold edit and falls within the remit of discussing article content. Your comments on the other hand are not content related and are purely disruptive to the purposes of the talk page. Dlv999 (talk) 09:31, 28 April 2013 (UTC)

Yet another warning

You are headed very rapidly towards a topic ban. Take for example your edit at Israel Eldad where you claimed that you "removed all four references since none of them refer to eldad himself". Did you think that nobody was going to check? Actually three of the five sources you removed name Eldad explicitly. What is your excuse? Zero 11:57, 30 April 2013 (UTC)

i checked each one, and did a search for eldad, for scheib, sheib, schieb, shieb, and found nothing. of course, i am glad someone checks. but that's strange. also, several of the sources were not RS (like a link to another wiki article?) Soosim (talk) 12:35, 30 April 2013 (UTC)
Bowyer Bell's article has "Sheib" twice and "Eldad" 9 times, and supports the claim precisely. So does Ilan's book. Zero 13:20, 30 April 2013 (UTC)
sorry again - i did a full search of each. Soosim (talk) 13:53, 30 April 2013 (UTC)

== Yochai Porat Volunteer project == (Adom David Magen). You advised me to write the article about the namesake of the Yochai Porat Volunteer Project, and to consult with you about. Also note, that the article is always open to editing as it takes shape. I intend to get the rights to use a photo of Yochai and Senator Hiliary Clinton.... Sadly I've seem to mined out all the data on this young man as he was assassinated by a terrorist in the prime of his young life.. Sources seem to be the IDF Eugloy, a site maintained by his surviving kin and his students, as well as Magden David Adom itself.

Your edits on the Goldblum article

Please refrain from introducing information that has no backing. I understand your deep need to smear Goldblum. but try to stick to facts, not to your imagination. I realize that this is not easy for you. רסטיניאק (talk) 08:14, 13 May 2013 (UTC)רסטיניאק

prof goldblum - what was not factual about what was placed there? the LA times article quoted you and your neighbors. didn't you read the article? I think you need to self-revert. Soosim (talk) 08:42, 13 May 2013 (UTC)

Please prevent Goldblum from his oonstant attempts to attack Prof. Plaut on WIki pages. In fact Plaut has never "smeared" Goldblum at all about anything and has barely ever even mentioned Goldblum in his commentaries. Goldblum is upset that various web sites cite accurate reports about him from teh LA Times, Maariv, and other mainstream media. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shemtov6 (talkcontribs) 07:59, 14 May 2013 (UTC)
