This has been added six times in the last week or two, and removed by a number of editors including myself. It was first added by the obviously COIed {{user|Htmlslicemate}}, since added by a variety of Indian IPs with no other outside edit history. If removed, it is now being restored within minutes.

The problem is that this EL is to a web site focussed on selling a HTML design technique, through a cheap offshore bureau service. It is an obsolete technique, that of slicing up Photoshop images of static websites (the domain name and COI username indicate this too). It's realistic to describe this technique as still popular, but long obsolete, and to be the antithesis of ], the subject of the article.

Hiding on that page, beneath the massive advert for their services, is a small gadget that tests other websites in varying-sized view windows. This tool could be said to have some relevance to RWD, however it's pretty trivial, and could barely scrape ] on a good day. Combined with the substantial commercial push of the site overall, and the contrary nature of this HTML slicing technique, in reference to this article's subject, then it's my opinion it's a fail for ].

I call for this EL to be removed from this article, and it to be made clear that it has ''no'' place on this article (i.e. it may then be removed on sight, without risk of breaching 3RR).

I would also ask that consideration be given to blocking this site in general, from any article, with blacklisting. ] (]) 12:23, 27 November 2012 (UTC)

I does appear spamming began with the Htmlslicemate account and when it was blocked, continued under various IP's. It would appear this site doesn't belong, however guidelines such as ] and ] apply. More problematic is the edit warring for its inclusion which is outright ]. Blocking each IP/account if this continues, would be futile as already evidenced. Literal magazine

User:70.138.120.236's 75 or so contributions have consisted entirely of spamming links to Literal magazine over a period of 18 months. Despite repeated warnings, including one that she/he would be blocked for continuing , the user continued as recently as yesterday. I've gone through the user's contributions and removed all the spam links from articles (about 30 of them remained), but it's probably time to block this IP address. -- Khazar2 (talk) 12:22, 21 October 2012 (UTC)

This user's history consists almost exclusively of adding external links to talks at Institute for Advanced Study at University of Minnesota (around 80-100 of these). A good chunk had already been removed from their articles per WP:ELNO; I removed the rest and warned the user. However, I've gotten two complaints from other users who feel that the talks at IAS were useful additions to specific articles. Did I act too hastily in this case? Responsive web design and persistent EL to htmlslicemate.com/responsive-design-testing/

This has been added six times in the last week or two, and removed by a number of editors including myself. It was first added by the obviously COIed Htmlslicemate (talk · contribs), since added by a variety of Indian IPs with no other outside edit history. If removed, it is now being restored within minutes.

The problem is that this EL is to a web site focussed on selling a HTML design technique, through a cheap offshore bureau service. It is an obsolete technique, that of slicing up Photoshop images of static websites (the domain name and COI username indicate this too). It's realistic to describe this technique as still popular, but long obsolete, and to be the antithesis of Responsive web design, the subject of the article.

Hiding on that page, beneath the massive advert for their services, is a small gadget that tests other websites in varying-sized view windows. This tool could be said to have some relevance to RWD, however it's pretty trivial, and could barely scrape WP:EL on a good day. Combined with the substantial commercial push of the site overall, and the contrary nature of this HTML slicing technique, in reference to this article's subject, then it's my opinion it's a fail for WP:ELNO.

I call for this EL to be removed from this article, and it to be made clear that it has no place on this article (i.e. it may then be removed on sight, without risk of breaching 3RR).

I would also ask that consideration be given to blocking this site in general, from any article, with blacklisting. Andy Dingley (talk) 12:23, 27 November 2012 (UTC)

It's treated as a "cheap offshore bureau service" because it advertises an Indian phone number and very low US dollar prices. That is not a pejorative comment on the commercial service offered by this site.
As the re-adding has been done by IPs from a variety of Indian ISPs, the COI username having already been blocked, then that certainly raises the issue of IPSocking. Andy Dingley (talk) 12:52, 27 November 2012 (UTC)

I modified the header to exclude the link, and added it to the appropriate template. I does appear spamming began with the Htmlslicemate account and when it was blocked, continued under various IP's. It would appear this site doesn't belong, however guidelines such as WP:NOPR and WP:ELNO apply. More problematic is the edit warring for its inclusion which is outright disruption. Blocking each IP/account if this continues, would be futile as already evidenced.
