Problematic issues on this project
that since the 17 April 2013 John C. Cooke has been the head of state of the Provisional Government of Free Vietnam.- BLP violation with a possibility of creating real world harm removedthat it is possible for a computer-generated image of a ship to be deemed non-replaceable and therefore in conformity with the WP:NFCC- image which never complied with NFCC (computer generated images are ALWAYS replaceable!) deleted and replaced with a freely licenced image in article.The_Masked_Avengers'_prank_on_Sarah_Palin#Conversationcontains a long transcript which is copyrighted. A good article on this project should never contain long copyrighted transcripts like this; especially when there is an external link. They are not allowed under the NFCC, and hence it's a copyright violation in its current stateFile:Sharp Billboard (Nicolson Road, Lahore)-c.JPGclear derivative work of a copyrighted work = copyvioFile:June 12 2004-billboards of lahore-beauty girl-c.JPGclear derivative work of a copyrighted work = copyvioFile:NDP-SC Logo.PNG- wow, a 9 year old copyright violation. And we say Commons is borken.
- Noting progress on these: I deleted the "Masked Avengers" transcript (with a note on the article's talk page), and deleted the following three images as well; but then was advised to restore the Sharp and Lahore images, since Pakistan apparently has liberal freedom of panorama laws. -Pete (talk) 22:10, 12 August 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks Pete, you are right in that Pakistan does have FOP, however, in the case of billboards, the words "permanently situated" will definitely come into play; billboards are inherently transitory in nature. They aren't permanently displayed. This is something that needs to be looked at. It is my opinion that they are not permanently displayed, and hence the Pakistani FOP laws do not apply in this case -- I should note that this opinion is based in part on Commons:COM:PRP. Russavia (talk) 21:38, 13 August 2013 (UTC)
- I nominated those two at FFD: Misplaced Pages:Files for deletion/2013 August 14 and Misplaced Pages:Possibly unfree files/2013 August 14. (In hindsight, they probably both should have gone in "possibly unfree files.") Thanks for the analysis. -Pete (talk) 20:39, 14 August 2013 (UTC)

* Sandor Earl - WOOF! I dunno about others but I think that a BLP being referred to on multiple occasions by their unofficial team-given nickname of Princess throughout the article would be a bad BLP violation. It's a shame that I am having to bring this to the attention of this community given Earl's high profile in the Australian media at the moment.
WP:BLP violation still exists at Sandor_Earl#Career_Start_.26_Charity:_2008-2011
- Fixed. — Richard BB 15:37, 9 September 2013 (UTC)
- File:Tim_Fischer_aboard_train.JPG is a NFCC violation, as it is not the subject of critical commentary. There is another photo available in the article, and in the gallery section below.
- File:Nbowen.jpg is a NFCC violation as File:Lionel Bowen.jpg is in the gallery section below and is freely licenced.
- File:John McEwen 1969.jpg no longer complies with NFCC as File:Sir John McEwen.jpg and File:Sir John McEwen (2).jpg now exists. Replace the image in articles before deletion
- File:Frankcrean.jpg is in use on Deputy Prime Minister of Australia and Whitlam_Government#The_economy and do not comply with the NFCC in any way, shape or form
- File:Adrian Fulford web.jpg is claimed to be under a free licence, but a search of ICC archives shows no evidence of this. Can be replaced in usage by File:Adrian Fulford (cropped).jpg which is freely licenced
- Gibraltar_National_Day#Declaration -- no evidence of this declaration being under a free licence, and it's use in the article is arbitrary.
- File:Prime_Minister_Tony_Abbott.jpg -- no EXIF, very low resolution and an uploader with a history of bad images indicates this is a copyvio. It would be appreciated that this is dealt with before it is propagated throughout other projects by way of Commons.
- File:The Hon Julie Bishop Minister for Foreign Affairs.jpg -- taken from juliebishop.com.au and is not a work of the Australian government as this shows and this shows Replaced in usage with a freely licenced photo
- File:Oliver Tambo.jpg is a copyright violation, given that it no longer satisfies the NFCC now that File:Oliver Tambo (1981).jpg exists. In fact, it has failed the NFCC since 2008 when File:Bundesarchiv Bild 183-T0515-008, Berlin, Besuch ANC-Delegation, Axen, Tambo.jpg was uploaded to Commons.
DYK for Pricasso
On 23 August 2013, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Pricasso, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that Pricasso (pictured), an Australian artist who paints with his genitals and buttocks, studied furniture design after failing to get an art degree? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Pricasso. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

Discussion
Those are great images, as always. But I noticed that a lot of the BLP articles in the gallery above already have free images that are just as fine as the ones you present here, so I'm a bit confused. Take Anote Tong, for instance, which has a perfectly fine image in the article already. Your image is perfectly fine, too, don't get me wrong, but I don't quite see why there is a need to replace one perfectly fine image with another perfectly fine image. There's many more examples, like Frances Adamson, Alexander Downer and Moussa Faki, so I'm not quite sure what we're supposed to be doing here. --Conti|✉ 13:55, 16 September 2013 (UTC)

- User:Sandstein are you SERIOUS? It is unfathomable that one would even consider AfD'ing an article of an Ambassador to any of the 5 UNSC members....these are major diplomatic posts. Furthermore, it is unfathomable that one would even consider AfD'ing an article (albeit a stub) of an Ambassador of Thailand to Myanmar . And can I ask, did anyone bother searching for material in a language which uses non-latin letters? I know LibStar didn't, because he has never ever successfully AfD'ed an article in my area of expertise, because he neglects to do this every time. There is a WEALTH of information on this person in that language press, and another database (which you have to pay for) also has a huge amount of materials available. But hey, whatever gets you guys going in the morning. Russavia (talk) 08:35, 19 September 2013 (UTC)
- I don't have an opinion about whether the article should be deleted; my nomination was procedural following a DRV. Sandstein 09:09, 19 September 2013 (UTC)
- @Russavia: Can you please post your non-English sources on your talk page? I can copy and paste them into the AfD discussion for you. A Quest For Knowledge (talk) 08:39, 19 September 2013 (UTC)
