Pedro Luis Diaz was born in 1927 at Havana, Cuba. In his youth he dreamed about flying airplanes. So after graduating high school he enrollolled in aviation school and became a liscensed pilot. He then become a commercial pilot for a small cuban company.


Later on, he heard about a man named ] and his guerillas who were trying to overthrow the Cuban government. Believing this man would bring back democracy to Cuba, Luis Diaz decided to join Castro and his followers. In 1957, he joined with Castro in Santiago, Cuba. Due to him having the rare skills of being able to pilot airplanes, he was given the special task of smuggling the weapons and ammunition from Costa Rica that Castro needed to arm his men. After the successful overthrow of the Cuban government by Castro in 1959, Diaz Lanz was rewarded for his efforts in the revolution by being given the high governmental office of Chief Air Force Commander. However, when Diaz Lanz realized Castro was actually a communist, he decided to defect to the United States. He sneaked out of Cuba by taking a small boat with his wife and brother to Miami. After the overthrow of the Cuban government by Castro in 1959, Diaz was rewarded for his efforts in by being given position of Chief Air Force Commander. However, later on, Diaz left for the United States when he learned of Castro's political beliefs.


After the United States government concluded that Diaz Lanz was a true patriot of democracy, they allowed him to stay in America. Later on, he joined the ], and became a member of ], a group of CIA operatives who specialized in carrying out secret Anti-Castro assassinations and sabotages.
