The Wikimedia Foundation runs a Communications Committee, which co-ordinates requests for interviews from the press. When we receive a request for an interview, often the journalist wants to interview someone that speaks their "native tongue", or someone that lives in the same country as their publication. For this reason, it is important the the Communications Committee keeps an up-to-date log of contributors that they can trust to represent the community in a professional manner.

This list of press contacts has started to grow. The goal is to eventually have at least one trusted user on the list from every country in the world, and one user for every language that the Foundation runs a project in.

What are your responsibilities? Whenever a journalist requests an interview, either by phone, by e-mail, or (rarely) in person, you are able to either answer the interview request, or pass the request off to another user that you trust. Whenever a newsworthy milestone is reached on your project, you should help co-ordinate the creation of a press release, and once it's ready, send it to me to post in your language's press room.

_ _ Your last two edits to this page have, as i noted in my summaries in reverting each of them, done nothing but remove a pilot project aimed at improving the usability of this and other LoPbN pages. This scheme has been in use on, IIRC, a couple of dozen pages, starting more than six months ago. No one has offered any criticism of it, and no one but you has given any sign of believing it is in any way problematic.
_ _ You have been one of a number diligent contributors of name entries to LoPbN, so you may have some insight that the rest of us have missed. But you cannot expect to be permitted to reverse this feature without discussing it on Talk:List of people by name. Please let us know what you think you are accomplishing by interfering with this innovation.

It is very sad to see all the admins and bureaucrats of Hindi Misplaced Pages staying inactive for long periods of time. A lot of work is pending at Hindi Misplaced Pages. Please devote some time for it.

Hi Hemanshu, can you please look at this page. Magicalsaumy requested to be admin awhile ago. As you are the only bureaucrat, can you either promote him or not. Magicalsaumy and I are trying to revive the Hindi Misplaced Pages, which at the moment is very embarrassing. Hindi is at least the third most spoken language in the world but it is in the nineties in Misplaced Pages size rank. I would like to bring something to your attention (a proposed deletion of a[REDACTED] article) and would like to request your help.

I have seen some of your contributions to the Kashmiri Pandit page, and I think you might have a good understanding of the issues involved. Please look at the article: India_Basher and views about its proposed deltion:Misplaced Pages:Articles_for_deletion/India_Basher. I am hoping to save the article. My contribution to the article is relatively small, but I think it is a valuable article.

I believe that those supporting deletion of the article are not familiar with the subject. Also, they may have made a decision while the article was still in its beginning stages. With your knowledge of India and its interaction with the world, you can probably make an informed decision about value of the article, and its accuracy. List of people by name: Talk about the intra-section bullets?

Hi,

I've been doing some work on LoPBN (adding massive numbers of entries via script - see the state of the T section for a result, User:Alvestrand/LoP Experiment for details). Jezry's been working quite hard on cleaning up the section headers and subdividing pages after the script has passed - something I couldn't make the script do.

I see that you have started deleting some of the "markup" separating entries on some LoPBN pages. Jezry and I have had a discussion about this - see Talk:List of people by name/Intra-page structure#Experimental Bullet-list Hierarchy, and also Talk:List of people by name/Intra-page structure#Section Hierarchy.

But since the discussion was basically one-on-one, we don't seem to have reached a conclusion where we don't agree - Jezry seems to have accepted my proposed guideline of "25 + 25", but we don't agree on sub-division bullets.

Do you want to contribute to the discussion, so that we can converge on "most of us like it this way"? --Alvestrand 06:21, 15 June 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:Bar-in-jk.gif. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Misplaced Pages (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Misplaced Pages:Fair use, use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Misplaced Pages:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Misplaced Pages:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

Hi there, I've been busy disambiguating links to Punjab, and discovered that the articles Durga puja and Durga Puja are one and the same. I attempted to redirect the first to the second, but realised that different articles link to each one. Is it required of me to go through and change every single link on the articles that link to Durga puja, in order to redirect it to Durga Puja?
