Thanks For Cleaning Up Fibromyalgia

Hello!

Thanks for the clean-up on Fibromyalgia, especially sorting those references. It's been needed for a while and it looks like you're the only one with the time and/or patience to do it. Thanks again. Snowflake Sans Crainte 16:18, 24 August 2006 (UTC)

District Infobox

Thanks very much for the infobox, it will be put to good use. Orchid Righteous 18:41, 24 August 2006 (UTC)

Well, I'm just going to have to re-list them, unless you actually have a reason for thinking they're not copyvios that you didn't care to state. They clearly are. I gave the source at . It's pretty obvious that the images were simply cropped out of the larger GIF and had their contrast adjusted. The source is not a US government agency, so they are therefore not PD, and the page carries a clear copyright notice. TCC (talk) (contribs) 20:25, 24 August 2006 (UTC)

Re: Adding interwiki links

Thanks very much for letting me know about that, Quadell. It's good to know how to do it the right way, and I'm glad I'll be able to do it correctly from now on. Thanks again, -- Natalya 22:02, 24 August 2006 (UTC)

Evolutionary progress and Largest-Scale Trends in Evolution

Hi Quadell. The deletion log says you deleted these two pages in order to move them. Where did you move them? Aren't you supposed to create links from the old location to the new location? Pdturney 23:20, 24 August 2006 (UTC)

It now seems to me that you deleted these two pages without looking at Talk:Evolutionary progress and Talk:Largest-Scale Trends in Evolution. I had written new versions of these pages in Talk:Largest-Scale Trends in Evolution/Temp and Talk:Evolutionary progress/Temp. Could you please restore these pages from their Temp version? Copyright subpages

I think it might be best not to remove the Images subpage when they are done, so that someone looking at the day page (for looking at the page history), can see clearly that there is also an Images subpage. Although, of course, it can mean someone will click on it when it is empty, so I'm not sure. —Centrxtalk • 04:44, 25 August 2006 (UTC)

Make sure to check the page history and the Talk pages. Aside from there being a possible salvageable revision there, in this one, for example, I had moved a new rewritten copy over the deleted copyright infringement. —Centrxtalk • 06:46, 25 August 2006 (UTC)
When keeping the non-infringing parts of articles, or rewriting otherwise copyright-infringing articles, it is best to delete it first, ridding the copyright infringement from the page history, and then start a new page with those parts. I hope you don't think I am getting on your case, I am just coming across these things in my copyvio-intersecting travels and want to give friendly advice. —Centrxtalk • 01:11, 26 August 2006 (UTC)

CopyVio

Maybe you should check whats a copyright vio and whats not before you delete someones hardwork. -- User:Shy1520 21:26, 26 August 2006 (UTC)

Yes, the Tess Wiley page... please put the copyright to the article and lets see if it is or not. -- User:Shy1520 21:31, 26 August 2006 (UTC)

Actually, there are only slight similarities. But whatever, I was doing a favor for her. -- User:Shy1520 21:41, 26 August 2006 (UTC)

Request

I have never had the pleasure of inter acting with you before. I noticed that you posted the GA tag on the Smedley Butler article and that is why I'm writing to you. I wrote an article about Lt. General Pedro del Valle. It was nominated for GA status for sometime now and nothing has happened. Could you or maybe someone that you know look into the matter? Thank you Tony the Marine 05:27, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

Fair use images on Big Brother articles

Should I remove the fair use images from all Big Brother articles? I know the answer to the question would most likely be yes, but I thought you may want to do it so that can delete them; or would you rather I tagged them as orphaned images? talk to JD 14:26, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

Pedro del Valle

Thank you for looking into the Pedro del Valle article. I have taken into account your recommendations and have subsitituted the word "massacre" with "the outcome of the battle" and I deleted the word "Anti-Semetic" in its place repolaced it with the word "controversial". I alos eliminated the last sentence which stated that the organization was lambasted by the media for its views, becuase even though such a thing was stated by the website in question, it did not provide a reference as to who and which media did the lambasting. I hope that I have taken care of the situation. Tony the Marine 15:44, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

  • Thank you once again (how many times am I going to do that? smile). When I wrote the article I wanted to create a balance between his Military career and his later life. I did't want to overshadow one with the other. Personally, I saw it as a battle between the positive against and the negative. By creating such a balance I figured that I would let the reader reach his or her own conclusion as to Who was this Pedro del Valle. You must admit, the subject is an interesting person for study. Template:Money

You created this template for foreign (non-U.S.) currencies some time ago, indicating that they are possibly copyrighted and used under fair use. I have looked far and wide and have not been able to find any discussion on the topic of the copyright status of foreign currencies. I recently uploaded a bunch of images of coins and bills and tagged them all with Template:Money, and I was wondering if as the template creator you had any special knowledge on this subject, as I'd like to re-tag as many of these images with free-use licenses as I can. Thanks — GT 18:05, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

Uh, this image is a copyvio imho. Your tagging with Creative Commons is not correct. Errabee 19:26, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

Yes, I did read it. In fact, I placed it there. It says it may be copied. It says nothing about making derivative works, which is part of the CC-BY-SA license. Errabee 19:30, 28 August 2006 (UTC)
I don't know of a license that could be used here. Perhaps we could ask a copyright expert (but I don't know any). Errabee 19:36, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

Please see Misplaced Pages talk:Manual of Style (Arabic)#poll for standard transliteration. I noticed that you previously contributed to the discussions on Arabic. thanks. Cuñado - Talk

Re image

I removed the image because theres a dispute about its fair use status and its under fair use review. Storm05 19:42, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

Re: Image:Calder Flamingo.jpg

Hi Quadell! I wish what you say about this image were true—unfortunately I don't think that it is. I am the administrator that deleted my photo from the commons… when I first uploaded it there I was under the impression that, as a general rule in the U.S., if you can see something from a public place you can photograph it. This is basically true, but problems arise when you try to publish the resulting photos. This article in cs monitor and this article at chicagoist detail some of the issues that have arisen from commercial publication of photographs of Cloud Gate in Chicago. After reading these articles I decided to investigate further, because I had already uploaded a few photos of sculptures in Chicago to the commons. My current understanding of U.S. copyright law is that sculptural works are indeed subject to copyright protection, and therefore the publication of photographs of such copyrighted sculptures, being derivative works, requires the authorisation of the copyright holder. commons:Commons:Derivative works expands more on this subject. I am not a lawyer, so if you believe my understanding to be incorrect I would appreciate it if you could point me to an article (or other text) that explains U.S. copyright law with respect to public art. Thanks, —JeremyA 22:46, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
