Hi TheLongTone. I am aware that you think articles like {{noredirect|Siegfried Schtauffen}} and ] are "fancruft" and don't belong in the encyclopedia. For the sake of avoiding edit wars and reducing animosity, however, do you think you could start AfDs for the articles if they get reposted instead of boldly redirecting them again? I would suggest both you and Snake stop of vandalism, as that's clearly not what's happening here. If the characters themselves are notable, then ideally per ] we should try to fix the problems rather than destroy them. If the characters are not notable, then that is something that can be determined more definitively at AfD. Thanks, ] (]) 18:11, 17 August 2018 (UTC) |

Good afternoon Dear Sir,
I will try to complete this article in three days as I need to translate the planned text as piisiple correctly. If You have other critereas to delete it (due to picture is not famouse now or due to not author posted it), let me know please. I received permition from the author to photograph his pictures. Any way the main the explanations of this picture which I intend to write and can be shortly. Without explanation this picture is not so interesting.
Let me know if You do not need to write the explanations or other criteria.

- Just why is the picture notable? Is the artist notable? has ir received serious critical attention??TheLongTone (talk) 16:18, 19 March 2016 (UTC)
I have information that this pictures (was two pictures withe same scene and various sizes) are in serious museums in various countries now and I am not sure 100% due to I was informed. I did not see the pictures in that countries and like one of them in England in privat collection, better to say in privat museum.
The main is not picture, the main explanations. I also in doubt if it will possible to refresh it my memory all text of explanation and translate it correctly on english due to was used words with double meaning during explanation.
I can say that the first thinking in Aveiro about this scene on the picture was not the main as this thinkings only pushed the others to friendly discussions later. And the audio recording of this discussions gave interesting result. Грищук ЮН (talk) 16:31, 19 March 2016 (UTC)
- I found out the Internet information about the artist (the painter) of this picture. I have his photo also and he is on the Internet page. His degree in arts as per this Internet (the adress I mentioned in article in the References part):
- awarded several times
- represented in several private collections and foreign
- member of the National ANAP-association of artists
And I have oral information only that his some paintings can be in serious collections. Грищук ЮН (talk) 17:56, 19 March 2016 (UTC)
Mostly all parts of the article completed except "Explanations after the sea voyage". Remain the more difficulty text for translation as it has double meaning sometimes. Can be small changes or additions. You can read and if it is not interesting let me know. I can post the photos of the painter Lopes de Sousa and the ship Ant also if it necessary. Redirected Article
Hi, TheLongTone, I created an article this morning, "Annabelle With Bells (Home Made Girl)," which was about a song that was reissued for Record Store Day 2016. When I returned to continue working on the the piece, I noticed that it was redirected to the article Lotti Golden. Because of this, the newly created article, "Annabelle With Bells (Home Made Girl)" no longer can be found. If you feel the article is not worthy, I don't want to argue. I'm disabled, and just sitting at the computer causes me considerable pain, so I have to prioritize. Please, I ask this of you. I will forget about the article--just please remove the redirect from the Lotti Golden article. It is unfair to the artist who has done nothing to deserve a blot on her page for all to see. Thank you for your help! Magdalamar (talk) 23:24, 9 May 2016 (UTC) Magdalamar (talk) 23:24, 9 May 2016 (UTC)
- I redirected it because the recording did not seem to be notable. However your input is not lost forever; if you click on the
"history" tab and then on the date entry for the last edit you made before I changed it to a redirect you will bring up that vesion of the article; you can then copy/paste or whatever any content that you feel can be usefully be added to the biog of the artiste.TheLongTone (talk) 12:38, 10 May 2016 (UTC)
- Hi,TheLongTone,
Thank you for responding to my post and for providing the information on how to retrieve the article if needed. My prime concern was to remove the "redirect" label on the artist's article. I understand that you do not think the recording was notable. I was working on the article because there are many pages on Google devoted to that song and single on which it appears, and because it warranted a reissue from Atlantic and Warner Bros. (who are selective in choosing re-releases) as well as the fact that the recordings on vinyl selected for Record Store Day, actually require a submission in advance to be approved by the commitee. It is an honor of sorts for a recording to be included in a given year, with historical.value. Clearly, the song was not a commercial success, but that was not why I chose to contribute the article. As I mentioned, I am disabled, so even little things, like retrieving the article from the history (thank you for the tip!) are difficult for me. If I should write the article in the future, can I contact you, and consult with you on the project? I don't want to contribute a piece that is offensive or below par. Thank youMagdalamar (talk) 16:13, 10 May 2016 (UTC)
- Hello TheLongTone,
I gave our conversation some thought, and decided I would like to contibute the article, "Annabelle With Bells (Home Made Girl)." I believe the song has historic value, as evidenced by the many Google searches, topic: *Sock It To Me Baby/It's Your Thing / Annabelle With Bells (Home Made Girl) (7", Single). The topic is on Google. The recording is: Atlantic Records 45-2687 /US 1969. The LP associated with this song (Motor-Cycle, Atlantic Records, 1969) was featured in numerous publications including Look magazine, Newsweek and The New York Times. I can provide the exact references if you'd like. If you feel strongly that this article has no merit, let me know. Perhaps we can find an impartial mediator to assist. My expertise on Misplaced Pages is my knowlege of music, contibuting new articles, as well as improving existing articles with editing, data and citations. Meanwhile, I can't write the article because it was redirected. A title now exists for that page, but it can't be located due to the redirect. And I can't create a new name for the article, because it's the title of the song. You mentioned how to reverse the redirect, but I am not tech proficient, and can't find the redirect in the history of the artist Lotti Golden's page. Can you remove the redirect from this artist's page, please? When it is removed, I will wait to hear from you before I write the article. Let me know if you object to my writing the artcle on the song, "Annabelle With Bells (Home Made Girl)." If you do you object, let's try to find a fair way to resolve this. I would be open to taking your suggestions as write the page, or we can find a Misplaced Pages Administrator to arbitrate. Thank you so much! Magdalamar (talk) 11:41, 12 May 2016 (UTC)

- Crikey! Usually the problem is that people think they are notable! Unfortunately there isn't really anything you can do to get a page deleted outside of nominating it for deletion, but imo unless somebody searches out much better sources than the biog has at the moment it will in all probability be going down the tubes.TheLongTone (talk) 15:13, 1 June 2016 (UTC)

AFD comments request
Hey, it seems weird having to say this, since you appear to be a long-term, knowledgable editor, but do you think you could maybe tone it down a bit with some of your AFD comments? Your comments here are getting a bit unconstructive. I mean, come on, is it really appropriate to declare that an article creator "has a problem" in the nomination statement? You must know that has no bearing on whether or not the subject is notable. The "sicko" comment isn't very subtle either.
Please, follow the basic Misplaced Pages advice of "commenting on content, not editors". Thanks. Sergecross73 msg me 20:20, 14 June 2016 (UTC)
- Me too. The editor who created the article in 2007 hasn't edited since January 2014, so it seems peculiarly inappropriate to talk about them "having a problem". But altogether, don't make personal remarks like that, against anybody. And it gets worse here, hinting that they're a "sicko" through the well-known and disreputable "I'm not going to say" rhetorical figure. Bishonen | talk 10:18, 15 June 2016 (UTC).

Deleted article restored
I am contacting you in connection with the discussion at Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Two Sided Amphora 63.1515, in which you took part. I closed the discussion as "delete", but an editor has now contacted me, providing new sources. All but one of the sources are not available to me, so I cannot comment on their content, beyond the fact that they show that a larger number of scholarly works mention the amphora than was shown to be the case in the deletion discussion. However, I have obtained a copy of the other one of those sources, and I believe it significantly changes the situation from that which existed at the time of the AfD discussion. (It is available at http://www.jstor.org/stable/4171394 if you have JSTOR access.) Because I believe that this information significantly increases the amount of evidence of notability, I have recreated the article, but of course anyone who disagrees is free to take it back to AfD. I am informing everyone who took part in the discussion. The article is at Two-handled amphora (Boston 63.1515), having been moved from the original title given in the AfD page. The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 22:35, 15 June 2016 (UTC)
- Very interesting. I think it was an entirely proper ( accurate) nomination, & Johnbod has done a good rescue job. I'd certainly not vote delete now. I think a third ref would be good. Article writer should have done the attribution & date thing, rather than the description.

Final Warning - Disruptive comments of others at AFD
It's once again been brought to me attention that you keep making disruptive comments about others at AFD, judging people for their interest in articles relate to death, murder, or disappearances. As I warned you before, this is not acceptable. If I catch any more comments like this from you at AFD or talk pages, you'll receive a block. This is unacceptable. These discussions are to be about the subject of the article, not the editors and your subjective opinions on their mental health or habits. These sorts of comments are off-topic and disruptive. ID2 and ZONK
Hi TheLongTone, I would appreciate it if you would stop redirecting the pages, "ID2" and "Zonk" to Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman. These singles have played an important role in Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman's musical career, and for you to repeat the aforementioned actions of redirecting these pages would be the same as if you were to do so with two of Calvin Harris' singles or maybe, two of Taylor Swift's singles, and we all know nobody would because it wouldn't be necessary. So for the sake of what is right, fair and necessary, please acknowledge my request. Answer soon, (preferably on my talk page). Thank you, and have a nice day.

Hello TheLongTone. Thanks for patrolling new pages – it's a very important task! I'm just letting you know, however, that there is consensus that we shouldn't tag pages as lacking context (CSD A1) and/or content (CSD A3) moments after they are created, as you did at Renal capacity. It is also suggested that pages that might meet CSD A7 criteria not be tagged for deletion immediately after they are created. It's usually best to wait at least 10–15 minutes for more content to be added if the page is very short, and the articles should not be marked as patrolled. Tagging such pages in a very short space of time may drive away well-meaning contributors, which is not good for Misplaced Pages. Attack pages (G10), blatant nonsense (G1), copyright violations (G12) and pure vandalism/blatant hoaxes (G3) should of course still be tagged and deleted immediately. Thanks.Template:Z149 KGirlTrucker81 16:01, 16 December 2016 (UTC)
- No content exept a snecking spamlink. Some things are obviously not going to get better.TheLongTone (talk) 16:05, 16 December 2016 (UTC)

- I am not hasty with CSD tags. I come across many many crap articles and almost always give them the benefit of doubt, pausing only to iron out any particularly egregious lumps of peacockery or bad English. This was clearly not going to get better, and some @newbies' (what a patronizing term) deserve a nip in the ass.TheLongTone (talk) 16:16, 16 December 2016 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:Bleriot XXVII.JPG
Thanks for uploading File:Bleriot XXVII.JPG. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.
If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Misplaced Pages:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Misplaced Pages:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Misplaced Pages:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Misplaced Pages's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
ATTENTION: This is an automated, BOT-generated message. This bot DID NOT nominate your file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 03:00, 2 January 2017 (UTC)

Desorden Público
So it is better to have the albums' pages redirected to the band page (which doesn't have a lot of information either) than to at least list the tracks? Guess the policy here is to point our users outside of Misplaced Pages where they can at least find tracks information. alvarocarvajal (talk) 15:41, 3 February 2017 (UTC)
- re yours on my talk page: For the time being, I'm pointing the albums to pages outside of Misplaced Pages. If anyone reading the page in English requires more information, they can go to the Misplaced Pages page in Spanish (which doesn't point to articles with track listings or any other album information either). At least with this edit there's some way to find some album information without opening another tab and going to Google. alvarocarvajal (talk) 15:57, 3 February 2017 (UTC)
- re I just don't think it's a good policy to have articles with links redirecting to itself. alvarocarvajal (talk) 16:04, 3 February 2017 (UTC)
- Certainly circular links are a bad thing. The solution in many cases is to delink, rather than creating flaky articles.TheLongTone (talk) 16:07, 3 February 2017 (UTC)

New Page Review - newsletter No.2
Hello TheLongTone,- A HUGE backlog
We now have 823 New Page Reviewers!
Most of us requested the user right at PERM, expressing a wish to be able to do something about the huge backlog, but the chart on the right does not demonstrate any changes to the pre-user-right levels of October.
The backlog is still steadily growing at a rate of 150 a day or 4,650 a month. Only 20 reviews a day by each reviewer over the next few days would bring the backlog down to a managable level and the daily input can then be processed by each reviewer doing only 2 or 3 reviews a day - that's about 5 minutes work!
It didn't work in time to relax for the Xmas/New Year holidays. Let's see if we can achieve our goal before Easter, otherwise by Thanksgiving it will be closer to 70,000.
- Second set of eyes
Remember that we are the only guardians of quality of new articles, we alone have to ensure that pages are being correctly tagged by non-Reviewer patrollers and that new authors are not being bitten.
- Abuse
This is even more important and extra vigilance is required considering Orangemoody, and
- this very recent case of paid advertising by a Reviewer resulting in a community ban.
- this case in January of paid advertising by a Reviewer, also resulting in a community ban.
- This Reviewer is indefinitely blocked for sockpuppetry.
Coordinator election
Kudpung is stepping down after 6 years as unofficial coordinator of New Page Patrolling/Reviewing. There is enough work for two people and two coords are now required. Details are at NPR Coordinators; nominate someone or nominate yourself. Date for the actual suffrage will be published later.

Foster mounting
Just in case you are interested (and have the time, of course) ...
I have a rewrite of the article on the Foster mounting nearing completion in my sandbox - https://en.wikipedia.org/User:Soundofmusicals/sandbox which may or may not be of interest. In common with other articles I have worked on from (more or less) scratch like this I am basically writing the text first and will be adding the verifiability/links etc. later - appreciate if you could add any comments you might have, including any possible outright errors you might notice, either to my talk page or the one to my sandbox. Most welcome help of all would be usable references, anything you think I should read etc.

Speedy Deletion
I knew this would happen, as the article hasn't quite expanded into a stub yet. I know it needs an infobox, for instance. I have it in my sandbox for safekeeping. I started the article because, while this person stays out of the limelight, he is the CEO of a very large (privately owned) corporation. I made that clear in the article. Is there a higher standard, such as citing sources which are considered more reliable than the corporate website? It is a work-in-progress which I started after reading the existing WP articles on the Bechtel family, and finding that, beyond his father, Riley Bechtel, the chairman and former CEO, who is in his mid-60s, there was no further information I could find. As I stated, speedy deletion was what I expected, but I thought perhaps one person on the planet might benefit from finding the article in the few hours the article was accessible. I now must read up on the process of article creation to make this thing stick. If there is anything vital I seem to be overlooking, let me know.--Quisqualis (talk) 19:52, 10 March 2017 (UTC)
- Simply being the CEO of a large/notable business isn't really enough. You need to establish notability... what is out there & not self published about him. Some CEOs attract attention & some don't... they may be excellent at therir job but are simply another bloke doing their job.TheLongTone (talk) 15:50, 21 March 2017 (UTC)
- He may just be another bloke doing his job! If so, I won't do any more work on the article.--Quisqualis (talk) 19:03, 21 March 2017 (UTC)
- Oh, don't do that. Try and find something that establishes notability.TheLongTone (talk) 16:32, 24 March 2017 (UTC)
- Time permitting, I'll see what I can uncover. Strange that I seem to be the only one on the planet wondering who this person is. His company is mighty notable.--71.36.99.131 (talk) 16:48, 24 March 2017 (UTC)

New Page Review - Newsletter No.4
Hello TheLongTone,Since rolling out the right in November, just 6 months ago, we now have 823 reviewers, but the backlog is still mysteriously growing fast. If every reviewer did just 55 reviews, the 22,000 backlog would be gone, in a flash, schwoop, just like that!
But do remember: Rather than speed, quality and depth of patrolling and the use of correct CSD criteria are essential to good reviewing. Do not over-tag. Make use of the message feature to let the creator know about your maintenance tags. See the tutorial again HERE. Get help HERE.

Hyperloop in general; Arrivo in specific
Hello @TheLongTone. An article about Arrivo, a new competitor in the Hyperloop industry got the speedy delete. It is, to be sure, a new and unproven company in a field of dodgy competitors. The reason for the delete was insufficient information about what makes this company notable. I included what I thought was sufficient -- the cast of characters, who recently departed from the what appears to be industry leader Hyperloop One. We can argue about constitutes a sufficient story. You may win that one. An argument from authority is often compelling.
I refer you to the original article on Hyperloop One. It was 1600 bytes with two citations. If we use the same criteria for that article, it would have been deleted as well. The key player in both articles is the selfsame Brogan BamBrogan. The technology premise is the same. And as of the date of first publication, both companies chances for success were the same.
If you would grant me two more minutes and see what I wrote on my user page, I would appreciate it. Rhadow (talk) 13:02, 17 July 2017 (UTC)

The Fokker Scourge article
I am having a few problems with an enthusiastic but at times very dogmatic editorial colleague on the Fokker Scourge article. In fact, things have reached a pass where some second opinions might be useful. The specific question he is hammering at the moment is that we shouldn't ever say "No. 1 Squadron RAF" (in spite of that being the usual way of putting it) but "1 Squadron" (on the grounds that the "No." is redundant). I wouldn't object to an occasional omission of the "No.", if only for elegant variation, but he has been going right through the article wiping every instance and claiming that "Misplaced Pages is not a source" (which is true enough, but nothing to do with the case). The gentleman concerned has been making dozens of other (mostly very pettifogging) changes to the article - a few have been genuine improvements, and most at least acceptable alternatives but some of have made clear text obscure, even meaningless. I have let everything he has done that is at all acceptable stand, but the really bad ones I've had to change - usually with a new version rather than a provocative revert.
I was wondering, if you have a moment, if you'd like to have a little look at the Fokker Scourge talk page (go straight to the bottom if you like) and tell me, either here, on my talk page, or even on the talk page of the article if you want to actually buy into the discussion, if I'm being totally unreasonable and should just give up. This is (for a WWI aviation article) quite a high traffic one - and I'd like to leave it in reasonable shape. At least readable, and plain in meaning (two things I value far above brevity for its own sake). --Soundofmusicals (talk) 01:05, 23 July 2017 (UTC)
Keepsake
You keep removing the content for the article I set up for the band Heavy Heart's album Keepsake and setting it to redirect to the band's main article. Please could you explain the reasons why you keep doing this before you just do it again? Jackworking93 (talk)
- Because there is no reason to suppose that the album is notable enough to merit an article. As I said in the edit summary.TheLongTone (talk) 14:14, 17 August 2017 (UTC)
I don't think that censoring the existence of things is a very appropriate attitude to have as a moderator on a globally adopted service for retaining knowledge regarding releases in art. I've donated money to Misplaced Pages because I respect the integrity of this idea - and I feel that your actions are undermining the value of creation and invention. This is a release from an upcoming band, with growing international interest, who I happen to be enough of a fan of to want to share this knowledge with others. Please consider this before removing the article on the basis of a very subjective idea. If there is anything you think needs to be added to validate the article, you should inform me prior to removal of the page. Jackworthing93 (talk) 16:11, 17 August 2017 (BST)

Chicago School of Mold Making
@User:TheLongTone Thanks for the notification. It's a pastry school and specialty sugar sculpture school (and business) that I learned about and used as a resource during my time in culinary school and in my professional pastry career. It's one of the few silicone mold-making schools in the USA, but I didn't want to add that because I was afraid that some would say it was too 'adverty'. I think its notable, almost every pastry chef in the country uses their techniques and molds, reads their books, etc...so how can I go about improving it? For now, citation base is limited to what I found.Brittney Tun (talk) 05:29, 30 September 2017 (UTC)

hi LongTone im rupa. Why should it be deleted? rupa$$$ (talk) 14:17, 6 November 2017 (UTC)
- Read the justification in the deletion discussion. Fundamentally, it's just a random list, and a list of very stupid objects at that. These things are not cars: I've seen one of those McLaren thingies in Central London and the driver was obviously having a really miserable time and wishing he was in a Fiat 500.TheLongTone (talk) 14:22, 6 November 2017 (UTC)

You do realize that in the time that I had reverted your unnecessary deletion that the page was patrolled and deemed notable. Drneroli (talk) 16:29, 29 November 2017 (UTC)
- I cannot imagine why anybody should think this recording is notable. The sources are weak and the article itself makes no claim of notability. And it was a redirect, not a deletion.TheLongTone (talk) 15:37, 1 December 2017 (UTC)
- Is the artist not sufficiently notable? Drneroli (talk) 00:39, 2 December 2017 (UTC)

New Page Reviewer Newsletter
Hello TheLongTone, thank you for your efforts reviewing new pages!Backlog update:
- The new page backlog is currently at 12713 pages. Please consider reviewing even just a few pages each day! If everyone helps out, it will really put a dent in the backlog.
- Currently the backlog stretches back to March and some pages in the backlog have passed the 90 day Google index point. Please consider reviewing some of them!
Outreach and Invitations:
- If you know other editors with a good understanding of Misplaced Pages policy, invite them to join NPP by dropping the invitation template on their talk page with:
{{subst:NPR invite}}
. Adding more qualified reviewers will help with keeping the backlog manageable.
New Year New Page Review Drive
- A backlog drive is planned for the start of the year, beginning on January 1st and running until the end of the month. Unique prizes will be given in tiers for both the total number of reviews made, as well as the longest 'streak' maintained.
- Note: quality reviewing is extremely important, please do not sacrifice quality for quantity.
General project update:
- ACTRIAL has resulted in a significant increase in the quality of new submissions, with noticeably fewer CSD, PROD, and BLPPROD candidates in the new page feed. However, the majority of the backlog still dates back to before ACTRIAL started, so consider reviewing articles from the middle or back of the backlog.
- The NPP Browser can help you quickly find articles with topics that you prefer to review from within the backlog.
- To keep up with the latest conversation on New Pages Patrol or to ask questions, you can go to Misplaced Pages talk:New pages patrol/Reviewers and add it to your watchlist.

New Years new page backlog drive
Hello TheLongTone, thank you for your efforts reviewing new pages!Announcing the NPP New Year Backlog Drive!
We have done amazing work so far in December to reduce the New Pages Feed backlog by over 3000 articles! Now is the time to capitalise on our momentum and help eliminate the backlog!
The backlog drive will begin on January 1 and run until January 29. Prize tiers and other info can be found HERE.
Awards will be given in tiers in two categories:
- The total number of reviews completed for the month.
- The minimum weekly total maintained for all four weeks of the backlog drive.
NOTE: It is extremely important that we focus on quality reviewing. Despite our goal of reducing the backlog as much as possible, please do not rush while reviewing.

Hello TheLongTone. Just dropping by to what a nice surprise it was to have such a nice message posted on my talk page. It certainly makes a change to have someone pleasant visit my talk page. I've been working on both Theatres designed by Frank Matcham and Frank Matcham for many months. They were fun to do; I'm just gutted I couldn't finish them. I apologise for the expletive upon starting the new article, but I was in a bad place - still am - and I allowed my frustrations to get the better of me. Thank you so much for the compliment; having comments like that made in reward for work makes it more worthwhile. I only wish that there were more people who thought so because if there was, this place wouldn't be so toxic. Best regards, and with my very best wishes. Cassianto 19:14, 25 January 2018 (UTC)

Hello TheLongTone, thank you for your efforts in reviewing new pages!Backlog update:
- The new page backlog is currently at 3819 unreviewed articles, with a further 6660 unreviewed redirects.
- We are very close to eliminating the backlog completely; please help by reviewing a few extra articles each day!
New Year Backlog Drive results:
- We made massive progress during the recent four weeks of the NPP Backlog Drive, during which the backlog reduced by nearly six thousand articles and the length of the backlog by almost 3 months!
General project update:
- ACTRIAL will end it's initial phase on the 14th of March. Our goal is to reduce the backlog significantly below the 90 day index point by the 14th of March. Please consider helping with this goal by reviewing a few additional pages a day.
- Reviewing redirects is an important and necessary part of New Page Patrol. Please read the guideline on appropriate redirects for advice on reviewing redirects. Inappropriate redirects can be re-targeted or nominated for deletion at RfD.

Redirecting Notability
Hello, a suggestion that in the future use a Notability template on articles that you believe aren't notable instead of redirecting them. This gives a chance for people to build on them, and others to review especially if they're trying to build up articles over a few edits. Being polite in your edit comments helps too. Collegify Article Deletion
Hello TheLongTone and thank you for your message. I'd like to know what can be done to restore the deleted page I had created for Collegify. It is one of the popular education consultancies in Kolkata and I have also provided several mainstream media publication citations in support of the article. There are other articles of education consultancies with lesser credible citations than I have provided but they have been accepted without any issues. Please help me understand what I could do in order to create it in a manner that it is accepted on Misplaced Pages. I will be very grateful for your help. Thanks in advance. Looking forward to your assistance.

- It helps if the article contains a good reason why the company is notable rather than being just another company. I'm afraid I can't remember what the citations in the article were like, but I do try not to be trigger happy when tagging articles for deletion, and in this case obviously the reviewing admin agreed with me.TheLongTone (talk) 12:51, 6 April 2018 (UTC)

I am working on a version of this in my sandbox so good edits like your last two are a minor nuisance - I have to incorporate them into my sandbox text which could be trickier than it sounds as I have already redone the structure of the references for the first half of "my" article. Thanks again anyway - and I should be unleashing the beast later today. WWIReferences (talk) 05:03, 29 April 2018 (UTC)
- Hmmm. I'm not sure that this is really the best editing technique. I see that you are fairly new here on Misplaced Pages; you will find that articles get randomly edited all the time, & if these present a problem...
- New as I am - I think it is by far the best way of making substantial edits like this lot. Anyway, it worked well enough in this case, and saved me making multiple edits and leaving doubtful "intermediate" versions of the article that might have been unhelpful to the poor old reader. Your edits were sensible so I incorporated them - no "problem" really. If they had been otherwise I would have just ignored them and they would have disappeared when my sandbox version "landed". All the same - now I have more or less done what I wanted I have transferred everything to the article itself. Hope it is deemed at least as good as it was. Citybus Route 962 AfD
Hi TheLongTone,
It seems you haven't replied on my talk page for over a week, and the page has already been deleted, but I still wanted to clarify, so apologies for posting here, as it seems my talk page isn't on your watchlist.
- I just wanted to ask why is it just this page that is being deleted, and not any other HK bus route pages? Pages like this and this seem to be extremely similar, yet those pages have been up for more than one and a half years (Since 12 September 2016), but this is being raised for deletion a mere 2 hours after that page was created. I checked the editing history of those two pages, and it seems that other users have edited on both of them, removing the operating hours, fare, and route sections. So if I removed the route section on that page, would the page have been good enough to avoid deletion? If deleting the route section was going to keep the page up, I would have been more than happy to do so, but a more logical reasoning for deletion is required, as there are clearly other pages which are doing the same and aren't being raised for deletion. Thanks. Jeffrey0219 (talk) 04:43, 6 May 2018 (UTC)
- Oh, I'm sorry not to have replied earlier, I imagine your talk page is not on my watchlist so I was not aware of your post. In brief, your page got nominated for deletion so quickly because I am a new pages patroller & so came across it. The reason the other articles you mentioned exist is that nobody has thought to nominate them for deletion to date. Speedy deletion nomination of Digi Osmosis (digital agency)
Hi TheLongTone,
I understand your concern however I think it's imperative to highlight the initiatives and challenging campaigns undertaken by Digi Osmosis. Digi Osmosis is a fairly new agency managing renowned clientele (i.e. Indian Premier League & Indian Super League Teams, Bollywood movies, niche lifestyle clients, etc...) with 100% success rate. Hence, it's essential to spread online awareness.
Misplaced Pages as a platform plays a very important role for the users. Credibility and visibility both are important.
I hope you would consider this and guide me to get this published and remove the tag from deletion process. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mrugeshsingh (talk • contribs) 11:29, 16 May 2018 (UTC)

ACTRIAL:
- WP:ACREQ has been implemented. The flow at the feed has dropped back to the levels during the trial. However, the backlog is on the rise again so please consider reviewing a few extra articles each day; a backlog approaching 5,000 is still far too high. An effort is also needed to ensure that older unsuitable older pages at the back of the queue do not get automatically indexed for Google.
Deletion tags
- Do bear in mind that articles in the feed showing the trash can icon may have been tagged by inexperienced or non NPR rights holders. They require your further verification.
Backlog drive:
- A backlog drive will take place from 10 through 20 June. Check out our talk page at WT:NPR for more details. NOTE: It is extremely important that we focus on quality reviewing. Despite our goal of reducing the backlog as much as possible, please do not rush while reviewing.
Editathons
- There will be a large increase in the number of editathons in June. Please be gentle with new pages that obviously come from good faith participants, especially articles from developing economies and ones about female subjects. Consider using the 'move to draft' tool rather than bluntly tagging articles that may have potential but which cannot yet reside in mainspace.
Paid editing - new policy
- Now that ACTRIAL is ACREQ, please be sure to look for tell-tale signs of undisclosed paid editing. Contact the creator if appropriate, and submit the issue to WP:COIN if necessary. There is a new global WMF policy that requires paid editors to connect to their adverts.
Subject-specific notability guidelines
- The box at the right contains each of the subject-specific notability guidelines, please review any that are relevant BEFORE nominating an article for deletion.
- Reviewers are requested to familiarise themselves with the new version of the notability guidelines for organisations and companies.
Not English
- A common issue: Pages not in English or poor, unattributed machine translations should not reside in main space even if they are stubs. Please ensure you are familiar with WP:NPPNE. Check in Google for the language and content, tag as required, then move to draft if they do have potential.
News
- Development is underway by the WMF on upgrades to the New Pages Feed, in particular ORES features that will help to identify COPYVIOs, and more granular options for selecting articles to review.
- The next issue of The Signpost has been published. The newspaper is one of the best ways to stay up to date with news and new developments. between our newsletters.

Generally I have near to 10 000 edits in all of Wikimedia projects so I know what I had to do in this situation;). Regards. Dawid2009 (talk) 13:58, 25 May 2018 (UTC)
- Understood. I think.TheLongTone (talk) 14:00, 25 May 2018 (UTC)
- Was it automatic message? (template, added to my talk which is automatically changed in some text?) After speedy deletions I see always there is very similar text at talk. Dawid2009 (talk) 14:07, 25 May 2018 (UTC)
- Yes the message is automatically put on the article screator's talk page unless one asks for it not to.TheLongTone (talk) 14:08, 25 May 2018 (UTC)

Repeated addition of apparently outdated/false information
Hi. I noticed that you added again the information that Pedro Perebal is a security guard despite I previously reverting said edit explaining that he is not a security guard. I don't know why did you add that information again. Do you have up to date sources that says that he is currently a security guard? I never claimed that he is a security guard. I said that he learned languages being a security guard, which is different. As far as I know he is currently not a security guard but a tourist attention official at the airport. User:TheLongTone|TheLongTone]] (talk) 12:50, 1 June 2018 (UTC)
- Why not add that rather than simply reverting.??TheLongTone (talk) 12:51, 1 June 2018 (UTC)
- What's the point of adding that if I keep the same text? Do the right thing. Thinker78 (talk) 18:32, 1 June 2018 (UTC)
- The qabove makes no sense whasoever. Try thinking.TheLongTone (talk) 14:13, 2 June 2018 (UTC)
- Well, I thought you were asking me in the afd to fix the information but you changed it yet again, that's why I didn't want to change it, to avoid the impression of edit warring. I don't understand why you keep putting that he is a security guard if I already showed you sources that say he is not a security guard. Thinker78 (talk) 16:52, 4 June 2018 (UTC)
- because that is what the snecking reference says'. You have a ref saying he is now something else. change the snecking article and insert the new reference. Unlike you,I don't give a rat's ass about what the article says, especially since the snow is falling deep and crisp and even. but I believe strongly that an article's contents shoul;d agree with the cited sources. Otherwise the whole thing implodes.TheLongTone (talk) 10:25, 5 June 2018 (UTC)
- Way to talk to an older lady if I was one but you don't know. I already reverted your changes but you keep going back to the outdated info, so at this time you basically tied my hands, because if I keep changing the article to something else I would give the impression that I'm edit warring. So if you want to do the right thing, I invite you to put the correct info. If not, there is no much I can do then. Thinker78 (talk) 20:08, 5 June 2018 (UTC)
- Why on earth do you think I think that you are a 'lady'. Why the sneck do you think you are older than me?? Why are you unwilling to make constructive edits???? Do you know what edit warring is??????? No, I thought not.TheLongTone (talk) 11:35, 9 June 2018 (UTC)
- I believe in freedom of speech but I still have that taboo feeling ingrained within me due to my education about not talking in certain ways or using certain words. Per WP:WAR, an edit war... occurs when editors who disagree about the content of a page repeatedly override each other's contributions. Thinker78 (talk) 19:03, 9 June 2018 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Zak Ringelstein
Hello TheLongTone. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Zak Ringelstein, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: restore the redirect if he is not notable but WP:ATD clearly prevents deletion. Thank you. SoWhy 13:55, 8 July 2018 (UTC)
Speedy deletion declined: Hurricane (group)
Hello TheLongTone. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Hurricane (group), a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: WP:BAND#6. Thank you. SoWhy 15:57, 9 July 2018 (UTC)
- Please clarify. There is nothing about any tour in the article. Which I am listing at AfD.TheLongTone (talk) 11:39, 10 July 2018 (UTC)
- Nr. 6 of the notability criteria for musical groups (WP:BAND) says:Is an ensemble that contains two or more independently notable musicians, or is a musician who has been a reasonably prominent member of two or more independently notable ensembles. As such, if at least one member - here Sanja Vučić - is notable, the group is significant enough to fail A7. And if the group is not notable, WP:ATD emphasises redirecting/merging to the notable member's article instead of deletion. The full text I wrote seems to have been swallowed by my browser, so sorry if it was unclear. Regards SoWhy 11:50, 10 July 2018 (UTC)
- oh, sorry to bother you, I simply assumed that the #6 would be the sixth entyry in the table of contents. I'm not sure that the notable members were linked when I sppedied this, because I generally favour redirecting over deletion. TheLongTone (talk) 11:55, 10 July 2018 (UTC)

Deletion nomination of new page Stev´nn Hall using Page Curation tool, please specify particular criterion
Hi TheLongTone, in order to organize my further participation in the deletion discussion of this article, may I ask you to kindly specify the particular criterion under which you tagged this page for deletion, among the many appearing in the PCT menu? Perhaps you'd like to respond on the corresponding talk page Talk:Stev´nn Hall ? Thank you. Neuralia (talk) 18:00, 15 July 2018 (UTC)
Stev'nn Hall
FYI, I think part of your nomination text is missing in this AFD, in the last sentence.96.127.242.226 (talk) 04:00, 21 July 2018 (UTC)
NPR Newsletter No.12 30 July 2018
|
Hello TheLongTone, thank you for your work reviewing New Pages!
- June backlog drive
Overall the June backlog drive was a success, reducing the last 3,000 or so to below 500. However, as expected, 90% of the patrolling was done by less than 10% of reviewers.
Since the drive closed, the backlog has begun to rise sharply again and is back up to nearly 1,400 already. Please help reduce this total and keep it from raising further by reviewing some articles each day.
- New technology, new rules
- New features are shortly going to be added to the Special:NewPagesFeed which include a list of drafts for review, OTRS flags for COPYVIO, and more granular filter preferences. More details can be found at this page.
- Probationary permissions: Now that PERM has been configured to allow expiry dates to all minor user rights, new NPR flag holders may sometimes be limited in the first instance to 6 months during which their work will be assessed for both quality and quantity of their reviews. This will allow admins to accord the right in borderline cases rather than make a flat out rejection.
- Current reviewers who have had the flag for longer than 6 months but have not used the permissions since they were granted will have the flag removed, but may still request to have it granted again in the future, subject to the same probationary period, if they wish to become an active reviewer.
- Editathons
- Editathons will continue through August. Please be gentle with new pages that obviously come from good faith participants, especially articles from developing economies and ones about female subjects. Consider using the 'move to draft' tool rather than bluntly tagging articles that may have potential but which cannot yet reside in mainspace.
- The Signpost
- The next issue of the monthly magazine will be out soon. The newspaper is an excellent way to stay up to date with news and new developments between our newsletters. If you have special messages to be published, or if you would like to submit an article (one about NPR perhaps?), don't hesitate to contact the editorial team here.

Redirecting Soulcalibur articles
Hi TheLongTone. I am aware that you think articles like Siegfried Schtauffen and Taki (Soulcalibur) are "fancruft" and don't belong in the encyclopedia. For the sake of avoiding edit wars and reducing animosity, however, do you think you could start AfDs for the articles if they get reposted instead of boldly redirecting them again? I would suggest both you and Snake stop accusing each other of vandalism, as that's clearly not what's happening here. If the characters themselves are notable, then ideally per WP:PRESERVE we should try to fix the problems rather than destroy them. If the characters are not notable, then that is something that can be determined more definitively at AfD. Thanks, Mz7 (talk) 18:11, 17 August 2018 (UTC)
