    Shortcuts

    Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

    After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

    This was declined above. I'll explain myself more clearly. Note that User:OliverC200 is a Brian Frosh WP:SPA that was unblocked with a request that they follow WP:COI. Can I prove that this is the same person as the IP editors? No, but based on the timing and the continuity of the conversation, it sure looks like it. If one wants to go back to October, User:BBcomm is another WP:SPA whose two contributions both consisted of removing sourced info with an edit summary saying that the info was unsourced.Adoring nanny (talk) 03:05, 12 March 2019 (UTC)

    Derwick Associates and Alejandro Betancourt López

    Full protection: or Pending changes: part of electrical crisis in Venezuela, with ongoing BLP issues.

    History: Betancourt López is one of the founders of Derwick Associates; both are names that come up in multiple sources with respect to the blackout in Venezuela. There is a history of paid editing, where the articles were being whitewashed. Considering recent developments, I checked on the articles this week and updated dead links. I am not able to convince myself that paid editing has not continued. Further, because of the blackout, the BLP is being hit constantly by IPs with BLP violations. I don't think semi-protection is enough for these articles, considering the history of paid editing. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 14:42, 12 March 2019 (UTC)

    Unprotection: There's a request on the page's talk page to mark its protected status. If the page is to serve as a project's To Do list it needs to be accessible to all members of the project or else the page is pointless. Edit protection needs to be removed.     Declined 40,000+ transclusions. The attack vector is too great. @Cabayi: One thing you could do is change your WikiProject banner template to simply link to the to-do page, rather than transclude it. That will reduce the transclusion count dramatically. I could also be convinced to lower it to extended-confirmed protection, but semi or unprotection is much too lax as it stands now. — MusikAnimal 16:26, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
