I'm helping a user at their Talk page: ], and after their config was added, archiving kicked in right away and looks good. ] wishes to group discussions under H1 YYYY section headers (e.g. <nowiki>= 2024 =</nowiki>), and I believe that this is compatible with the bot archiving standard H2 discussion threads, but I wanted to make sure. I presume that signed & dated H2 discussions will get archived properly as they individually go stale, is that right? What happens to the H1 headers—do they end up remaining on the talk page to be culled manually later, or do they perhaps get archived when the first H2 under it is archived, or the last one? (As a complicating factor which I presume is unrelated to the general question, the user previously had a heading with unbalanced equal signs; this apparently stopped the bot when it hit that section, but this has since been resolved.) :Because ] to the documentation without updating ]. But I prefer dated archives, myself, because they just make more sense to me, but it's a debated issue. From a technical perspective, it's (slightly) better for the bot and the Misplaced Pages servers to use dated archives since then the bot doesn't have to "find" the right archive by checking the sizes of archives, it just knows based on the date. This isn't a big deal, but when it comes to defaults for a popular bot where most people won't care one way or another, it's better generally that the default be the more efficient option. <span style="color:#dbb5ff;font:bold 125% 'Brush Script MT',cursive;padding-left:.75em;padding-right:.5em">— ] ]</span> 23:56, 11 January 2025 (UTC) | |||

WHAT ON EARTH IS THIS? Why did you revert my edits? For God’s sake, what is your problem with my editing? I didn’t vandalise any article or falsified anything! What the hell is this? A JOKE? My edits are being taken for granted now huh? You have no shame in disregarding your own personal policies! Shame! Utter disgrace! What did I do wrong? I didn’t vandalise anything and I edited with good faith! This is sham! What do you expect from people like me? Every time I do a damn edit, some idiot comes along and revert all of my work, what a shame you are! Just embarrassing! Your establishment is the worst encyclopaedia on the internet for being such garbage and treating my edits like they were so-called “vandalism”. Your platform is pure bias and lies. Shame on you! Disgrace! ] (]) 10:48, 10 May 2024 (UTC) |

Why the default are set to |format=Y/F
when format= %%i
is better according to the documentation?
Also can I to switch to numbered formats later? Or it's not possible because it will break the bot? - Ivan530 (Talk) 14:31, 11 January 2025 (UTC)
