Hello,
I am a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and I would like to add my comments on this issue if allowed. The correct name of my sorority should be Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. My sorority uses our full legal and correct name because there is currently a DST Fraternity, Inc. Also, at one time a former President of my sorority suggested that we stop using sorority in our legal name, but there were to many legal ramifications with the IRS and the DST Fraternity, Inc. You can read about it in the book In Search of Sisterhood: Delta Sigma Theta and the Challenge of the Black Sorority Movement by Paula Giddings on page 290. Now I understand Justinm1978 point that he would like for all of the greek articles to be consist as far as style is concerned but in the case of my sorority things are a little different legally. So I suggest why not use sorority, inc. or fraternity inc. in all of the Greek articles. A compromise would be to use the full name of my soroity once DST Sorority, Inc. once in the article and then refer to it as DST Sorority throughout.
