Edmunds was a ] with the ]'s ] before joining the CTU ]/] Domestic Unit. After working there for a time, he was assigned to the CTU Los Angeles Domestic Unit as a Field Operations agent under CTU Field Ops Director ]. He has won honors in the MPDC SWAT Competition Tactical Shooting events and commendations in weapons knowledge and field reconnaissance. He is also a graduate of the Special Forces Operations Training Course.

At the beginning of Season 3, Edmunds was ]'s partner, and hunted the Cordilla virus throughout the season. During the course of action, Edmunds was shot once in his hand and, later on that day, lost his hand because he attached a viral container to it, the purpose being to stop the virus courier.

Three months before the events depicted in Season 3, Edmunds began dating Bauer's daughter, Kimberly. When Bauer discovered this, he was most displeased, but as the season wore on, Bauer came to terms that his daughter was her own woman, and Chase was his own man. The relationship came into stormy waters when Kim discovered that Chase had an illegitimate daughter, but they worked their differences out.

In the season premiere of 24.4, Bauer mentions that Chase quit CTU (in all probability in protest due to Bauer's dimissal over a heroin addiction acquired in the line of duty) and joined a private security firm. Kim and Chase live together, and are raising Chase's daughter, Angela.
