I copied last week's DYK, as we'd "redlinked" again on these. If folks could add some to the archives going forward, it would be great. Thanks, ] 16:11, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

] is back!
So i was browsing around wikiworld, when I stubled upon the "epic of Roy", wikipedians effort to write the worlds longest poem. However, when I tryed to return to it, It took me 15 minutes to fail to locate it in this portal or in the article on epic poetry; furthermore, the search results did nothing (The search feature is one of wikipedia's few weak spots in my opinion). Me thinks maybe a link or two could be useful, and it would certainly get more people involved in the project which is paramount if it is to suceed. Just my thoughts, have a nice day!

] hosts pages for notable poets, in many languages. Currently the site is blacklisted due to alleged linkspam, which consisted simply of several editors (at least two, apparently) adding many links to articles on poets pointing to the poets' pages on lyrikline, across many wikis, during 2006-2008. The only wiki which currently permits links to lyrikline.org, as far as I can tell, is de.wikipedia, and they have experienced no linkspamming since they whitelisted it in May 2008, according to ], who is admin on both de and en.wikipedia, but they do have the link in many articles on poets, and the links are stable without apparent controversy. I would like the opinion of en.wikipedia editors involved with articles on notable poets to consider the usefulness of this site, it seems to meet the general ]. It's non-commercial, with support from reputable individuals and institutions. It is nearly certain that it has permission to host all that it hosts. For each poet included, it has text, audio files of the poet reading, generally contributed by the poets, a bibliography, and a biography. Given that it is an edited source with inclusion standards, it should be considered a reliable source, and would also show notability. It is multilingual, so, for many different languages, one can read the original language, hear the poet reading the work, and read translations.

A courteous curtain
If there are a few editors who consider the site usable, it should be possible to get specific pages whitelisted, even if the whole site remains blacklisted. However, there really isn't any reason I've been able to find for continuing the blacklisting; if a number of pages are whitelisted, it should be fairly easy to either get the whole site whitelisted here, or delisted on meta, where the global blacklist is maintained. I may be able to assist with whitelisting, if any editor would like to try this, please let me know, I'm becoming a bit familiar with the process. --] (]) 01:17, 13 February 2009 (UTC)
Loomed thready with fine silks
Scenting of my core

And with not fleeing ticks
But almost ding dong devotes
Potent day and night
Shrouds,when I come in
Sheilds,when I come out
For not to street cowslips
To steal me from her role
Let I vocal vomits vociferously
"Am I boastful beaming as her turban?
Oh,I love you courteous curtain,

:Thanks to admin ] and others who supported the whitelist request, the English-language pages at ] are now whitelisted on en.wikipedia, so they may be used in articles, see ] for the first addition. ("English" refers to the user interface, not the language of the poet.) I will start adding links to articles on poets; there is a list of hosted poets at ], for reference. Because of wikipolitics, please suggest a link on an article talk page before adding it, wait a day, I'd say, at least. Please also consider ]. ] not only hosts audio of poets reading their work, being hosted on lyrikline is evidence of notability, and there is a biography for each poet there; I'd consider lyrikline a reasonably reliable source. --] (]) 04:05, 27 February 2009 (UTC)

Notice from the Portals WikiProject

WikiProject Portals is back!

The project was rebooted and completely overhauled on April 17th, 2018. Its goals are to revitalize the entire portal system, make building and maintaining portals easier, support the ongoing improvement of portals and the editors dedicated to this, and design the portals of the future.

As of May 2nd, 2018, membership is at 60 editors, and growing. You are welcome to join us.

There are design initiatives for revitalizing the portals system as a whole, and for improving each component of portals. So far, 2 new dynamic components have been developed: Template:Transclude lead excerpt and Template:Transclude random excerpt.

Tools are provided for building and maintaining portals, including automated portals that update themselves in various ways.

And, if you are bored and would like something to occupy your mind, we have a wonderful task list.

Removing {{WikiProject Portals|class=FA}}

I commented out {{WikiProject Portals|class=FA}} in the talk page headers because it was causing this page to exceed the limits on template expansion and wind up in Category:Pages where template include size is exceeded. Once this issue is resolved, the template should be restored. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 18:59, 11 February 2020 (UTC)
