== TV Tropes Stuff ==

Hi, this is Arkady Darell from TV Tropes. I'm really sorry for doing this, but I got bounced due to an extreme misinterpretation and have literally no other idea how to contact the mods outside the wiki to contest this since my attempts to make new accounts just for the sake of doing so also got bounced.

Basically, I got Google Bounced for being a "misogynist apologist" despite not actually saying a single thing that was misogynist ''or'' apologizing for same. I mean, I ''am'' a woman, for pity's sake, and was doing nothing but trying to talk about my experiences dealing with negative treatment as a woman. I never said a single thing that hated on women, or apologized for people who hate on women. But I have no idea how to contest this since I received no warning whatsoever, and, like I said, my attempt to make accounts just to contest the ban keep getting bounced. Help? :/ ] (]) 01:08, 12 June 2014 (UTC)

==Resurrection of Southern California Task Force==

After moving from Los Angeles County to Kern County to San Luis Obispo County, I am finally realizing that there is life in California outside of L.A. and San Francisco, where I lived and grew up. Oh, I have also lived in San Diego, San Bernardino, San Joaquin, Yolo and Sacramento counties, and I earned my undergraduate degree in Riverside County. I am trying to breathe life into the Southern California Task Force, and I hope you will join me. Could you visit our list of participants and update your description of what you are interested in doing for us, assuming that you still want to be in the mix, that is.

In recompense, I will buy you a drink during the Misplaced Pages Welcome Week I am planning for Morro Bay on the Central Coast in July. Yours sincerely, ] (]) 18:24, 3 May 2015 (UTC)

== A new user right for New Page Patrollers ==

Hi {{BASEPAGENAME}}.

A new user group, ], has been created in a move to greatly improve the standard of new page patrolling. The user right can be granted by any admin at ]. It is highly recommended that admins look beyond the simple numerical threshold and satisfy themselves that the candidates have the required skills of communication and an advanced knowledge of notability and deletion. Admins are automatically included in this user right.

It is anticipated that this user right will significantly reduce the work load of admins who patrol the performance of the patrollers. However, due to the complexity of the rollout, some rights may have been accorded that may later need to be withdrawn, so some help will still be needed to some extent when discovering wrongly applied deletion tags or inappropriate pages that escape the attention of less experienced reviewers, and above all, hasty and bitey tagging for maintenance. User warnings are available ] but very often a friendly custom message works best.

If you have any questions about this user right, don't hesitate to join us at ]. <small>''(Sent to all admins)''</small>.] (]) 13:47, 15 November 2016 (UTC)

<big><u>'''Art+Feminism Misplaced Pages Edit-a-Thon'''</u></big>

Despite its wide reach, content on Misplaced Pages suffers from the bias of its editors: white, technically inclined, English-speaking men that live in developed, majority-Christian countries. This represents an alarming absence of voices in an increasingly important repository of shared knowledge.

In an effort to change this, the Jake is organizing a Misplaced Pages ] on Saturday, May 6th, 1 - 5 pm. Our mission is to bring together diverse communities to participate in Misplaced Pages editing, and improve its coverage of queer people and women of color in the arts.

We will provide childcare, snacks, and tutorials for the beginner editor.

Bring your laptop, power-cord and ideas for entries that need updating or creation. No previous Misplaced Pages experience required!

|Misplaced Pages is one of the most wide-reaching repositories of shared knowledge, yet a 2011 survey found that less than 10% of its contributors identify as female, suggesting an alarming absence of voices. What and how information is shared is skewed by this gender disparity. To help change this, the Jacob Lawrence Gallery is organizing a quarterly series of Edit-a-thons to improve Misplaced Pages's coverage of womxn artists of color.

This Saturday afternoon's gathering will focus on creating, editing, updating, and expanding pages for womxn artists from Latin America and the Caribbean. The Edit-a-thon will feature a talk by , Lecturer in the UW School of Art + Art History + Design, an artist, and an educator who explores the labor of digital imaging production as a collaborative site where the intersections of the image-idea and lived experience are produced and contested. Through videos, photography, and sculptural projects that query the ability of documentary processes to be manipulated—to be multiplied and replicated, stopped and started, rewound and advanced—Dan works within the impossibilities of absolute replication to question the very ability of the image to truly represent.

== Invitation to return to active editing ==

I've been contacting administrators who are rarely active and encouraging them to rejoin the project. I see that you're on the list.

I note that serving on the Arbitration Committee is tough on anyone. The last few cases we worked on together, and the community response to them, were tough on me. I imagine they were hard for everyone. Nonetheless, I'm back, and I'm trying to get other administrators from the growth era of Misplaced Pages to rejoin. I would be well pleased to see you participating regularly.

I have put together some general resources for reengagement at ]. Perhaps you'd find them helpful.

Please consider staying in touch even if you have nothing to say regarding Misplaced Pages.

] celebrates the anniversary of the founding of Misplaced Pages. This year in Seattle, ]' celebration of Misplaced Pages Day will focus on a different closely related project: Wikimedia Commons, which (among other things) functions as the media repository for Misplaced Pages. When you see a photo or map in Misplaced Pages, or hear an audio clip, etc., it usually is hosted on Wikimedia Commons and "transcluded" into Misplaced Pages.

Wikimedia Commons is a mix of users' own works and curated third-party content, either ] or ]. Our event is a hands-on workshop in curating third-party content, mostly early 20th-century photos of Seattle and other West Coast locations.

Currently, Wikimedia Commons has two intersecting sets of older photos, one from the ] Photo Company and the other a more general set of Seattle images. At this meetup, we will celebrate the ] by further curating these images by the creation and addition of categories, adding ImageNotes where useful, linking other versions of the same photo, enhancing the descriptions, and identifying and correcting errors. ] has already categorized over 1000 images and corrected several hundred wrong dates, misidentified buildings, and etc., but there is much more to be done.

For more information, please see ].

|Misplaced Pages’s gender trouble is well-documented. In a 2011 survey, the Wikimedia Foundation found that less than 10% of its contributors were women. While the reasons for the gender gap are up for debate, the practical effect of this disparity is not: content is skewed by the lack of representation from women.

Let’s change that.

To help change this, the Jacob Lawrence Gallery is continuing a series of Edit-a-thons to improve Misplaced Pages's coverage of womxn and gender non-binary artists of color.

Childcare, snacks from local businesses, and editing tutorials will be provided.

All you need to bring is your laptop, power cord, and ideas. No previous Misplaced Pages experience required!

Everyone is welcome. Access to UW wifi will be provided for non-UW affiliated participants.

Please ] before the event.

== Administrator account security (Correction to Arbcom 2019 special circular) ==

ArbCom would like to apologise and correct our previous mass message in light of the response from the community.

Since November 2018, six administrator accounts have been compromised and temporarily desysopped. In an effort to help improve account security, our intention was to remind administrators of existing policies on account security — that they are ] to "have strong passwords and ]." We have ] our procedures to ensure that we enforce these policies more strictly in the future. The policies themselves have not changed. In particular, ] remains an ''optional'' means of adding extra security to your account. The choice not to enable 2FA will not be considered when deciding to restore sysop privileges to administrator accounts that were compromised.

We are sorry for the wording of our previous message, which did not accurately convey this, and deeply regret the tone in which it was delivered.

For the Arbitration Committee, -] 21:04, 4 May 2019 (UTC)</small>

== How we will see unregistered users ==

<section begin=content/>
Hi!

You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.

When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.

Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin '''will still be able to access the IP'''. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on ] to help.

If you have not seen it before, you can ]. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can ] to ].

Thank you.

Vampire clans

Back in 2008, you voted to merge/redirect the article on Tremere. If you can remember this: congrats, you have a much better memory than myself.

Either way, I have started a discussion on merging the different vampire clans in Vampire: The Masquerade. If you want to add your opinion, it'd be much appreciated. I suffer paranoia that it will just drop off the radar and nothing will come of it. – Bellum (talk) 23:14, 28 January 2013 (UTC)

Nomination of Axel Vogt for deletion

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Axel Vogt is suitable for inclusion in Misplaced Pages according to Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Axel Vogt until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article.

Dear fellow Wikipedian,

The L.A. Misplaced Pages community has two exciting events coming up in the next few weeks: an edit-a-thon sponsored by the online magazine East of Borneo, and the fourth annual Los Angeles Wiknic!

The East of Borneo event is an edit-a-thon that aims to build a better history of art in Southern California. This next chapter of their Unforgetting L.A. series will take place on Saturday, June 21, 2014 from 12pm to 5pm at 356 S. Mission Rd. (map). Beginners welcome! Please RSVP here if you plan to attend. For more info, see eastofborneo.org/unforgetting.

The Wiknic is a part of the nationwide Great American Wiknic. We'll be grilling, getting to know each other better, and building the L.A. Misplaced Pages community! The event is tentatively planned for Pan-Pacific Park (map) and will be held on Sunday, July 6, 2014 from 9:30am to 4pm or so. Please RSVP and volunteer to bring food or drinks if possible!

TV Tropes Stuff

Hi, this is Arkady Darell from TV Tropes. I'm really sorry for doing this, but I got bounced due to an extreme misinterpretation and have literally no other idea how to contact the mods outside the wiki to contest this since my attempts to make new accounts just for the sake of doing so also got bounced.

Basically, I got Google Bounced for being a "misogynist apologist" despite not actually saying a single thing that was misogynist or apologizing for same. I mean, I am a woman, for pity's sake, and was doing nothing but trying to talk about my experiences dealing with negative treatment as a woman. I never said a single thing that hated on women, or apologized for people who hate on women. But I have no idea how to contest this since I received no warning whatsoever, and, like I said, my attempt to make accounts just to contest the ban keep getting bounced. Help? :/ 74.67.22.81 (talk) 01:08, 12 June 2014 (UTC)

Resurrection of Southern California Task Force

After moving from Los Angeles County to Kern County to San Luis Obispo County, I am finally realizing that there is life in California outside of L.A. and San Francisco, where I lived and grew up. Oh, I have also lived in San Diego, San Bernardino, San Joaquin, Yolo and Sacramento counties, and I earned my undergraduate degree in Riverside County. I am trying to breathe life into the Southern California Task Force, and I hope you will join me. Could you visit our list of participants at the other end of this link and update your description of what you are interested in doing for us, assuming that you still want to be in the mix, that is.

In recompense, I will buy you a drink during the Misplaced Pages Welcome Week I am planning for Morro Bay on the Central Coast in July. Yours sincerely, BeenAroundAWhile (talk) 18:24, 3 May 2015 (UTC)

ArbCom elections are now open!

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Misplaced Pages arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Hi, This image was seemingly uploaded prior to current image polices, Thank you.

However, as part of ongoing efforts to ensure all media on English Misplaced Pages is correctly licensed and attributed it would be appreciated if you were able to confirm, that it was your own work, by marking it as {{own}}, amending the {{information}} added by a third party, and by changing the license to an appropriate "self" variant. You can also add |claimed=yes to the {{media by uploader}} tag if it is present to indicate that you've acknowledged the image, and license shown (and updated the {{information}} where appropriate).

This will assist those reviewing the many many "free" images on commons that have not yet been transfered to Commons. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 08:28, 8 August 2016 (UTC)

Extended confirmed protection

Hello, Morven. This message is intended to notify administrators of important changes to the protection policy.

Extended confirmed protection (also known as "30/500 protection") is a new level of page protection that only allows edits from accounts at least 30 days old and with 500 edits. The automatically assigned "extended confirmed" user right was created for this purpose. The protection level was created following this community discussion with the primary intention of enforcing various arbitration remedies that prohibited editors under the "30 days/500 edits" threshold to edit certain topic areas.

In July and August 2016, a request for comment established consensus for community use of the new protection level. Administrators are authorized to apply extended confirmed protection to combat any form of disruption (e.g. vandalism, sock puppetry, edit warring, etc.) on any topic, subject to the following conditions:

  • Extended confirmed protection may only be used in cases where semi-protection has proven ineffective. It should not be used as a first resort.
  • A bot will post a notification at Misplaced Pages:Administrators' noticeboard of each use. MusikBot currently does this by updating a report, which is transcluded onto the noticeboard.

Please review the protection policy carefully before using this new level of protection on pages. Thank you.
This message was sent to the administrators' mass message list. To opt-out of future messages, please remove yourself from the list. 17:48, 23 September 2016 (UTC)

Two-Factor Authentication now available for admins

Hello,

Please note that TOTP based two-factor authentication is now available for all administrators. In light of the recent compromised accounts, you are encouraged to add this additional layer of security to your account. It may be enabled on your preferences page in the "User profile" tab under the "Basic information" section. For basic instructions on how to enable two-factor authentication, please see the developing help page for additional information. Important: Be sure to record the two-factor authentication key and the single use keys. If you lose your two factor authentication and do not have the keys, it's possible that your account will not be recoverable. Furthermore, you are encouraged to utilize a unique password and two-factor authentication for the email account associated with your Wikimedia account. This measure will assist in safeguarding your account from malicious password resets. Comments, questions, and concerns may be directed to the thread on the administrators' noticeboard. A new user right for New Page Patrollers

Hi Morven.

A new user group, New Page Reviewer, has been created in a move to greatly improve the standard of new page patrolling. The user right can be granted by any admin at PERM.

User warnings are available here but very often a friendly custom message works best.

If you have any questions about this user right, don't hesitate to join us at WT:NPR. (Sent to all admins).MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:47, 15 November 2016 (UTC)

Art+Feminism, Saturday, May 6, at Jacob Lawrence Gallery, UW Seattle

Art+Feminism Misplaced Pages Edit-a-Thon

Despite its wide reach, content on Misplaced Pages suffers from the bias of its editors: white, technically inclined, English-speaking men that live in developed, majority-Christian countries. This represents an alarming absence of voices in an increasingly important repository of shared knowledge.

In an effort to change this, the Jake is organizing a Misplaced Pages Edit-a-thon on Saturday, May 6th, 1 - 5 pm.

RSVP at and stay tuned to our Facebook page for updates.

The Edit-a-thon will feature a talk by Dan Paz, Lecturer in the UW School of Art + Art History + Design, an artist, and an educator who explores the labor of digital imaging production as a collaborative site where the intersections of the image-idea and lived experience are produced and contested. Through videos, photography, and sculptural projects that query the ability of documentary processes to be manipulated—to be multiplied and replicated, stopped and started, rewound and advanced—Dan works within the impossibilities of absolute replication to question the very ability of the image to truly represent.

Everyone is welcome. Access to UW WiFi will be provided for non-UW affiliated participants. All you need to bring is your laptop, power cord, and ideas. Invitation to return to active editing

I have put together some general resources for reengagement at Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Editor Retention/administrators. Perhaps you'd find them helpful.

I sincerely hope to see you back. If you've reached the point where reconnecting is unlikely in the foreseeable future, I would encourage you to consider voluntarily resigning your adminship by leaving at note at WP:BN.

Thank you for all you've done.

Please consider staying in touch even if you have nothing to say regarding Misplaced Pages.

Best regards,

After surviving AfDs, Doug Thorley and Magoo are still up, but both could use better sourcing. I'm wondering if you've got back issues of Hot Rod, Car Craft, National Dragster, & the like that would help. Ditto on Jake, Showboat, The Mantaray, Ed Donovan, Donovan hemi, Silhouette, and a few others I've created lately. (Have a look at my userpage under the "Open Vanity" 3&4.) Any help you can be would be very much appreciated. TREKphiler 00:01, 28 December 2018 (UTC)

Misplaced Pages Day 2019 — curating images from Asahel Curtis and older Seattle photos

First Hill, Seattle, c. 1903, showing intersection of Columbia St and Summit Ave, Seattle, a panorama built from three Asahel Curtis photographs.
In the Seattle area?

Tuesday evening, January 15, 2019, 6-9pm at Wayward Coffeehouse, 6417 Roosevelt Way NE #104, Seattle WA 98115

Misplaced Pages Day celebrates the anniversary of the founding of Misplaced Pages. This year in Seattle, Cascadia Wikimedians' celebration of Misplaced Pages Day will focus on a different closely related project: Wikimedia Commons, which (among other things) functions as the media repository for Misplaced Pages. When you see a photo or map in Misplaced Pages, or hear an audio clip, etc., it usually is hosted on Wikimedia Commons and "transcluded" into Misplaced Pages.

Wikimedia Commons is a mix of users' own works and curated third-party content, either public domain or free-licensed. Our event is a hands-on workshop in curating third-party content, mostly early 20th-century photos of Seattle and other West Coast locations.

Currently, Wikimedia Commons has two intersecting sets of older photos, one from the Asahel Curtis Photo Company and the other a more general set of Seattle images. At this meetup, we will celebrate the 18th anniversary of Misplaced Pages by further curating these images by the creation and addition of categories, adding ImageNotes where useful, linking other versions of the same photo, enhancing the descriptions, and identifying and correcting errors. User:Jmabel has already categorized over 1000 images and corrected several hundred wrong dates, misidentified buildings, and etc., but there is much more to be done.

For more information, please see Misplaced Pages:Meetup/Seattle#Misplaced Pages Day 2019 — curating images from Asahel Curtis and older Seattle photos.

ArbCom 2019 special circular

Administrators must secure their accounts

The Arbitration Committee may require a new RfA if your account is compromised.

View additional information

Why have I received this message?
All administrators are receiving it.
What prompted you to send this message?
Recently, several Misplaced Pages admin accounts were compromised. The admin accounts were desysopped on an emergency basis. In the past, the Committee often resysopped admin accounts as a matter of course once the admin was back in control of their account. The committee has updated its guidelines. Admins may now be required to undergo a fresh Request for Adminship (RfA) after losing control of their account.
What do I need to do?
Only to follow the instructions in this message.
  1. Check that your password is unique (not reused across sites).
  2. Check that your password is strong (not simple or guessable).
  3. Enable Two-factor authentication (2FA), if you can, to create a second hurdle for attackers.
How can I find out more about two-factor authentication (2FA)?
You can find out more about 2FA at m:2FA.

This message was sent to all administrators following a recent motion. Thank you for your attention. For the Arbitration Committee, Cameron11598 02:51, 4 May 2019 (UTC)

Administrator account security (Correction to Arbcom 2019 special circular)

ArbCom would like to apologise and correct our previous mass message in light of the response from the community.

Since November 2018, six administrator accounts have been compromised and temporarily desysopped. In an effort to help improve account security, our intention was to remind administrators of existing policies on account security — that they are required to "have strong passwords and follow appropriate personal security practices." We have updated our procedures to ensure that we enforce these policies more strictly in the future. The policies themselves have not changed. In particular, two-factor authentication remains an optional means of adding extra security to your account. The choice not to enable 2FA will not be considered when deciding to restore sysop privileges to administrator accounts that were compromised.

We are sorry for the wording of our previous message, which did not accurately convey this, and deeply regret the tone in which it was delivered.

For the Arbitration Committee, -Cameron11598 21:04, 4 May 2019 (UTC)

Description
  • Free parking is normally available on campus after 12pm on Saturdays.
  • Check the Gallery's website for information about getting there.
  • The ‘Big Four,’ or the four white male artists that comprised the Northwest School, were the subject of the famous 1953 LIFE magazine article, "Mystic Painters of the Northwest": Guy Anderson, Kenneth Callahan, Morris Graves, and Mark Tobey. Each of these artists have robust pages on Misplaced Pages. However, key female-identifying artists from this time such as Margaret Gove Cafferman — who Mark Tobey cited as an influence on his work — lack Misplaced Pages articles. To help address the imbalance of representation on Misplaced Pages, the Jacob Lawrence Gallery is organizing an Art + Feminism Misplaced Pages Edit-a-thon focused on female-identifying artists of the Pacific Northwest.
  • Childcare, snacks from local businesses, editing tutorials, books, and lists of artists will be provided.
  • All you need to bring is your laptop, power cord, and ideas. No previous Misplaced Pages experience required!

My song, "Tools"

You just stay around to keep the tools, you just stay around to keep the tools! You think that we're all fools, you just stay around to keep the tools! Making minute edits every year, you make minute edits every year! We can see it's very clear, you make minute edits every year! Users such as yourself who make a significantly low amount of edits just to keep your administrative tools sicken me and many others. Just give up the tools already!!! What are you holding on to them for anyways!! What a selfish thing to do!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.35.113.246 (talk) 14:48, 12 May 2020 (UTC)

I'm afraid not. Sorry. Also, my edits are not "to keep the tools", but to fix things I see wrong on Misplaced Pages. Also, the group "me and many others" is clearly comprised of a rare kind of fool who gets worked up over such inconsequential stuff. Matthew Brown (Morven) (T:C) 21:15, 3 June 2020 (UTC)

ArbCom 2020 Elections voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2020 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 7 December 2020. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Misplaced Pages arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2020 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 01:14, 24 November 2020 (UTC)

However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Misplaced Pages (see our policy for non-free media).

About ]

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Misplaced Pages. It appears that you tried to give ] a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Powertrain. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Misplaced Pages has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Misplaced Pages:Requests for history merge. Thank you. JTZegers

Speedy deletion nomination of Powertrain

A tag has been placed on Powertrain requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done for the following reason:

MERGED to Drivetrain. And User:力, this time it was on purpose.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, pages that meet certain criteria may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Proposed deletion of 2 mm scale

Notice

The article 2 mm scale has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:GNG

While all constructive contributions to Misplaced Pages are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Administrators will no longer be autopatrolled

A recently closed Request for Comment (RFC) reached consensus to remove Autopatrolled from the administrator user group. You may, similarly as with Edit Filter Manager, choose to self-assign this permission to yourself. This will be implemented the week of December 13th, but if you wish to self-assign you may do so now. To find out when the change has gone live or if you have any questions please visit the Administrator's Noticeboard. 20:06, 7 December 2021 (UTC)

How we will see unregistered users

You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.

If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.

We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.

Thank you. /Johan (WMF)

New administrator activity requirement

The administrator policy has been updated with new activity requirements following a successful Request for Comment.

Beginning January 1, 2023, administrators who meet one or both of the following criteria may be desysopped for inactivity if they have:

  1. Made neither edits nor administrative actions for at least a 12-month period OR
  2. Made fewer than 100 edits over a 60-month period

Administrators at risk for being desysopped under these criteria will continue to be notified ahead of time. Thank you for your continued work.

Pending suspension of administrative permissions due to inactivity

Information icon Established policy provides for the removal of the administrative permissions of users who have made fewer than 100 edits over a 60-month period. Your administrative permissions will be removed if you do not return to the required activity level before the beginning of January 2023.

Inactive administrators are encouraged to engage with the project in earnest rather than to make token edits to avoid loss of administrative permissions. Resources and support for re-engaging with the project are available at Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Editor Retention/administrators. If you do not intend to re-engage with the project in the foreseeable future, please consider voluntarily resigning your administrative permissions by making a request at the bureaucrats' noticeboard.
