Richard John Hillgrove VI, Founder of Hillgrove PR, a company specializes in reputation and crisis management. Richard was born in the Scottish embankment zone of Christchurch in New Zealand. He was raised in the small river town named Whanganui. He presently resides in Somerset in the United Kingdom with his wife Lois nee Perry Smith and their eight year old son, Richard John David Hillgrove VII and daughter Lola Barbara Elizabeth Hillgrove, who will turn two in September this year. A Master’s degree holder in Media and Communications, a Fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts, and a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations, he won accolades for his thesis titled “The Development of Stardom: Celebrity, Image and the Media at the Massey University in New Zealand. Hillgrove is also an award winning writer and producer for Radio New Zealand including both-, National Radio (Public Broadcasting) and the commercial radio network. Hillgrove’s achievements are endless just after completing his education; he was recruited as a writer for TV3 in its inaugural year.

The Matrix of marketing is unconventional thinking and imagination to achieve goals that others cannot foresee. The Marketing industry has changed rapidly and it requires distinctiveness and a glossy pitch.
The industry has evolved so quickly and many are finding hard to keep up with the rapids changes. The conformist techniques are past and the present demands for new ideas based on unconventional thinking is changing the demographics of marketing swiftly.
Marketing is a combination of four P’s-Promotions, Price, Place and Product. Basically a product cannot be sold without a place, price and promotion. But one man embracing the fundamental theory has taken the field of marketing to another level. He is a strategist and his achievement in a relatively short period of time is worth pointing-out.
His Career
Richard Hillgrove, the Founder of Hillgrove, PR is a veteran in the field of marketing and public relations. At the age of twenty he worked as a consultant, advising blue chip clients such as Saatchi and Saatchi, the award winning global advertising agency network with 140 offices in 76 countries and over 6,500 staff about how to target “Generation X” and assisted them to win one of the of the biggest global conglomerate , Levi Strauss.


His consistency and perseverance paid off when he was hired by Wilson & Horton, the former owners of The New Zealand Herald to advise them on their internet strategy. He also consulted to Telecom New Zealand when they launched a new internet product called Xtra. For Sony Music, Hillgrove was engaged to make one of their leading recording artists the second artist in the world, after the Rolling Stones, to perform live over the internet. Hillgrove worked with Silicon Graphics to achieve this. He hardly spent time at home and was always looking for new glossy pitches for his clients.
The former commentator for Murdoch owned newspapers such as the Sunday Times; Hillgrove has assisted many corporate conglomerates to re-shape their configuration with innovative communication and resourcefulness. An accredited Public Relation Specialist, Hillgrove has always maintained a high level of professionalism and competency. With his background in print and electronic media, he has trained many across the tables to become competent marketing people in the trade. Prior to founding Hillgrove PR, he worked as a Sales Manager with Express Newspapers which was procured by Northern and Shell Media. They owns the widely read British Newspapers, the Daily Express and the Daily Star. At the Express he was recognized as one of its finest employees and was able to spawn more than $ 146 million in revenue.
After a successful tenure with Express Newspapers he entered into public relations in 2004 and was quick to attract three major clients James Cann, Duncan Bannatyne and Simon Woodroffe OBE. All are well known Television personalities and entrepreneurs in the United Kingdom. Richard Hillgrove made a mark for himself with his signature concept “celebrity businessmen”. Hillgrove is also one of the most sought after people among the British media outlets on social issues. His comments were sought during the highly publicized Rupert Murdoch’s News Corporation phone hacking scandal and the future of the European currency, the Euro. He has frequently appeared on British Broadcasting Corporation radio and debate forums on Televisions. Married to Lois nee Perry Smith, they have an eight year old son Richard John David Hillgrove and daughter Lola Barbara Elizabeth Hillgrove
