With regard to , I would like to assure that I am not taking any sides here. Speaking about Malick, he does not do any "anti-Russian" edits, not even remotely, at least from the point of view of someone who really knows these subjects. He supported completely wrong (I believe) arguments by Paul on AE. He did it in a highly partisan fashion, by bringing irrelevant issues to discussion, commenting in my section, and reverting my edits in my section. He recently proposed me to contact with him by email, and it's great that I politely refused his offer. Yes, indeed I tried to help him (and you) by providing some reasonable advice. But I am not taking and will not take any sides. Good luck, ] (]) 13:02, 21 June 2012 (UTC)

|- | |||
Hi, VM.<br>Can you have a look at ] photo? Don't you find strange that the Red Army solders and ] solders are marching together? == A kitten for you! ==
:The "AK was more an opponent of the Red Army then an ally" is true but it is also a generalization. In particular, AK and the Red Army did cooperate/coordinate in numerous instances and in particular in the liberation of/attack on Wilno, which is where this photo comes from. See ] (that article could most certainly use citations but it gets it essentially correct). Now, after the fighting was over the Soviets did arrest the Polish officers but that wasn't until the 17th or so. This photo says it's from the 12th so at that point AK and Soviet soldiers happily patrolling together makes some sense (another potential issue is that the relations between individual soldiers of the two formations could be quite different from "official" attitudes at the higher levels).] 01:20, 26 June 2012 (UTC)
] | |||
:BTW, any particular issue which made you notice it? ] 01:29, 26 June 2012 (UTC)
A kitten in the hopes that it improves you evening.
::Good. I didn't know about any cooperation between AK and the Soviets. I thought they never cooperated, and the caption is a mistake. Thank you for explanation.
::No particular issues. I noticed this caption and found it to contradict to what I know about the AK history. However, if you are sure that there was some cooperation I have no reason not to believe you.--] (]) 01:37, 26 June 2012 (UTC)
::PS. BTW, what you say is a very interesting and unusual. Surprisingly the WP article about AK contains no such information. Maybe, we need to update the ] article, and to add this photo there?--] (]) 01:41, 26 June 2012 (UTC)
:::I'll look through the AK article again, but basically right after ] (which ] was a part of) (August-September 1944) is when the relations more or less went from "suspicious but cooperative" to essentially hostile, mostly due to mass arrests of AK (higher) officers and the enforced conscription of lower officers and regular AK soldiers into ] or the ] by the Soviets (on occasion AK soldiers joined the Soviet controlled armies "voluntarily" - it's how me granddad wound up fighting for/near Berlin).
:::The photo would be useful in the Operation Ostra Brama article, though NPOV would require that the caption explains that this was pre-arrest of Polish officers.
:::Also, one thing to keep in mind that before August-September 1944 the relations between Soviet partisans and AK varied widely by region. They were worst in present day Lithuania and northern Belarus, mixed but generally ok in Ukraine (where Poles were more fearful of UPA and had a small presence anyway).
:::I also see someone added some POV stuff to the AK article on the relations with the Soviets.] 01:54, 26 June 2012 (UTC)
:::Also, for other examples of Soviet-AK cooperation see my old article ] as well as ]. The ] was also involved in several actions in cooperation with the Red Army, though that article's a bit sparse on that.] 02:22, 26 June 2012 (UTC)
::::Understood. The only thing I can add to that is the following. If the photo we discuss is relevant to the Eastern Front article, it seems to be even more relevant to the article about AK. In this situation I speak on behalf of an ordinary reader (I have no specific knowledge in this area, so I can be considered as an ordinary reader), and, being an ordinary reader, I went from the Eastern Front article to the AK article, and I didn't find this photo there. As a result, my first hypothesis was that there was a mistake, and that in actuality the Polish military on the photo were some pro-Soviet Polish troops. Had I found this photo on the AK page, no such questions would appear.--] (]) 05:00, 26 June 2012 (UTC)

Glitch
Hi! Looks like there was some sort of edit conflict glitch and your edit reverted a long comment from Nederlandse Leeuw (which is of interest to me because I was tagged in it). I reverted back, I hesitates because we had a little dustup at arbcon the other week so I thought it best to let you know directly what I was thinking and why I reverted your revert. Wish you the best. Horse Eye's Back (talk) 17:38, 24 May 2023 (UTC)

Panama Section in 'Allegation of CIA trafficking' page
Sometime back you made this edit on the 'Allegations of CIA drug trafficking' page:.
There is talk of restoring that section (on-going) on that talk page....I give my thoughts there. I'd be interested to know what you think (maybe expand upon the reasons given in your edit summary)Rja13ww33 (talk) 18:17, 24 June 2023 (UTC)

Not sure why several seem to think exceptional editors like Wifione & Icewhiz had malcious intent? Ice used to be a fellow ARS member, he was unusually gentle until he suffered severe provocation. He only sought adminship as a means to fight a certain evil. His play for adminship might have failed, but he simply kept taking things to a new level until his will proved too great for the community to resist. Much as I believe Ice was mistaken in seeing said evil as residing in certain edtiors or being tolerated by Misplaced Pages as a whole, one has to admire his ingenuity & determintation to achieve rightful victory (as he saw it).
bothered me. I was hoping that maybe the diff I shared would be like a victim impact statement? But I also didn't want to speak on your behalf because obviously you can do so for yourself (hence the courtesy ping). But again, I didn't mean to remind you what you went through. If you don't want me to ping you about similar situations in the future, I'll respect that. Clovermoss🍀 (talk) 14:09, 13 November 2023 (UTC)

Thanks for the hat-tip
It was a pleasant surprise to see your mention of me when completing the editor reflection. I'm impressed that you remember my early forays into privacy protection, and am flattered that they had a positive influence on you. There is a certain irony that, having written some of this stuff more than 15 years ago, my RL name and username are practically used interchangeably within the movement, and I've presented in many public fora under my own name. Wishing you well in the coming year, Risker (talk) 21:33, 18 December 2023 (UTC)

DYK for The Torture Camp on Paradise Street
On 27 January 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article The Torture Camp on Paradise Street, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Stanislav Aseyev, the author of The Torture Camp on Paradise Street, was placed in the Izolyatsia torture camp for writing "Donetsk People's Republic" in quotation marks in a social media post? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/The Torture Camp on Paradise Street. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, The Torture Camp on Paradise Street), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

I'd give it a miss if I were you, since he will argue forever, but I didn't want to talk about you behind your back even in passing. Request for amendment at WP:ARCA about World War II and the history of Jews in Poland
Hello Volunteer Marek,
a request for amendment that affects the 1-way interaction ban with Piotrus and a 1-way interaction ban with Volunteer Marek
from the World War II and the history of Jews in Poland case has been made at Misplaced Pages:Arbitration/Requests/Clarification and Amendment § Amendment request: World War II and the history of Jews in Poland. Your input would be welcome.
Best regards,

Threading
This is unrelated to our back-and-forth, but it is on the same article talk page. I indented and moved your 04:57, 7 July 2024 reply to JDiala because it split their reply to themselves. I hope you don't mind. Link for review. If you revert, I won't contest it. While I'm here, I struck the DE comment and the explanation is available with my 06:15, 7 July 2024 reply. Utsa Patnaik
Hello VolunteerMarek. I had a query about the reliability of Utsa Patnaik on the Bengal Famine of 1943 article? I ask because you fully removed her opinion from the body on June 24 because it was apparently fringe, yet another anonymous user on July 1 added a whole paragraph sourced to Patnaik to the lead about inflation even though it's not a summary of the body and with no remaining mention of Patnaik in the body. I think her view deserves some mention in the body but clearly what this anonymous user added is undue and not following Misplaced Pages's guidelines for the lead section. No other scholar even gets named in the lead apart from Patnaik. 185.21.22.198 (talk) 11:22, 13 July 2024 (UTC)
- Patnaik , Monbiot and Hickel are most certainly fringe by any reasonable definition of fringe. “Comment is free” is not a reliable source. Volunteer Marek 18:49, 14 July 2024 (UTC)
Arbitration motions regarding My very best wishes
The Arbitration Committee has resolved by motion that:
Remedies 5.1 and 5.2 of World War II and the history of Jews in Poland (the topic and interaction bans on My very best wishes, respectively) are repealed.
And it has resolved by another motion that:
My very best wishes' topic ban from World War II in Eastern Europe and the history of Jews in Eastern Europe, imposed under the Eastern Europe contentious topic procedures, is repealed.
For the Arbitration Committee, SilverLocust 💬 06:33, 8 August 2024 (UTC)
- Discuss this at: Misplaced Pages talk:Arbitration Committee/Noticeboard § Arbitration motions regarding My very best wishes
Arbitration amendment request archived
The request for amendment in which those two motions were proposed has been closed and is archived at Misplaced Pages:Arbitration/Requests/Clarification and Amendment/Archive 128#Amendment request: World War II and the history of Jews in Poland. The repeal of remedy 5.2 means that the ban on My very best wishes interacting with you has been lifted. SilverLocust 💬 07:30, 8 August 2024 (UTC)
