Hey Areaseven | |||
I'm sending you this because you've made quite a few edits to the template namespace in the past couple of months. If I've got this wrong, or if I haven't but you're not interested in my request, don't worry; this is the only notice I'm sending out on the subject :).
So, as you know (or should know - we sent out a centralnotice and several watchlist notices) we're planning to deploy the ] on Monday, 1 July, as the default editor. For those of us who prefer markup editing, fear not; we'll still be able to use the markup editor, which isn't going anywhere.
What's important here, though, is that the VisualEditor features an interactive template inspector; you click an icon on a template and it shows you the parameters, the contents of those fields, and human-readable parameter names, along with descriptions of what each parameter does. Personally, I find this pretty awesome, and from Monday it's going to be heavily used, since, as said, the VisualEditor will become the default.
The thing that generates the human-readable names and descriptions is a small ] data structure, loaded through an extension called TemplateData. I'm reaching out to you in the hopes that you'd be willing and able to put some time into adding TemplateData to high-profile templates. It's pretty easy to understand (heck, if I can write it, anyone can) and you can find a guide ], along with a ], although I suspect we can all hazard a guess as to high-profile templates that would benefit from this. Hopefully you're willing to give it a try; the more TemplateData sections get added, the better the interface can be. If you run into any problems, drop a note on the ] page.
Thanks, ] (]) 21:24, 28 June 2013 (UTC)
== Jajadelera == | |||
It's good to see that Jajadelera is once again trying to remove the blocknotices and warnings on ] because it shows that our blocks (including a probable range block on his normal range of IP addresses) are hitting him and preventing him from editing/vandalising WP. ] ] 09:25, 6 July 2013 (UTC)
:Yeah, but for him to stay in one IP address is very uncharacteristic of him. Something's not right. - ] (]) 09:26, 6 July 2013 (UTC)
::I have atleast a couple of hundred car related articles on my watchlist (out of almost 2,000 articles on the list...), including what I believe is every article Jajadelera has vandalised so far, so his chances for evading detection are very slim. :::Do you think it's advisable to create a Long-term abuse report on him, or is it too early? Also, based on his numerous Facebook pages, he may have a legitimate mental issue (possibly autism, like ]?). - ] (]) 10:09, 6 July 2013 (UTC)
::::I would probably wait a bit before making a long term abuse report, and I wouldn't speculate about mental issues since we know very little, if anything, about him as a person. In theory atleast the Jajadelera on Facebook could be a totally different person. All we know is that "our" Jajadelera has an obnoxious habit of vandalising Misplaced Pages. ] ] 10:16, 6 July 2013 (UTC)
:::::Nope, it's the same guy. All of Jajadelera's Facebook pages have nothing but bus pictures. - ] (]) 10:48, 6 July 2013 (UTC)

His various other sites definitely pass the ducktest. Hello. Please don't add a "suspected sockpuppet" tag to Jajadelera socks before each sock has been blocked. I deliberately never do it, because it only makes Jajadelera discard his socks and create new ones. His latest sock, ] seems to have already been discarded by him after seeing the tag. ] ] 14:09, 31 August 2013 (UTC)

== Location of IP addresses by the LTA ==
While your theory of this reasoning about this mass vandalism by the LTA re static range IPs seems reasonable, mine was that I was thinking that the LTA may have moved countries to Indonesia since the Philippines were under a typhoon on the island Manila is in. I don't know what the definition of static and dynamic is and I always thought that IP addresses used by everyone is located on their home places. However, I've noticed that ] has blocked one of the IP addresses giving the reason "blocked proxy", another thing I don't know about. ] (]) 20:24, 17 September 2018 (UTC)
:Yes, MRY has been occasionally using open proxies for the last few weeks. Open proxies are IP addresses which can be used by anyone in the world. There's no indication they've moved - they're still editing from their home ranges. -- ] ] 20:37, 17 September 2018 (UTC)

Hi there, and thank you for adding the missing soundtracks. Do you suggest adding a separate listing for the original soundtrack vol.1? It contains tracks 1–35 from the first OST in the same order, and the rest 10 are differently arranged. Do you think it is notable enough to add, or would it be too repetitive? I was skeptical at first because I'd have to create a separate article for it, but since you have merged all of them into one, maybe it can be added now? {{#tag:syntaxhighlight|Lunar-akaunto|lang=text|class=|id=|style=|inline=1}}/] 09:07, 1 June 2024 (UTC)

That too lessens your chances. You are now a Reviewer
Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.
When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Misplaced Pages:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.
If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 18:27, 15 June 2010 (UTC)
Just a note
You may want to take a look at three images you uploaded, File:VF-1S-Strike-Valkyrie-02.jpg, File:VF-1S-Strike-Valkyrie-01.jpg, and File:VF-1S-Strike-Valkyrie-03.jpg, then take a look at how they fall under Template:Non-free 3D art. These images don't qualify for release under a free license unless you get the permission of the manufacturer of the toys. However, they do qualify for fair use, as the aforementioned template states. I was made aware of these photos as a result of a request in the IRC[REDACTED] help chat, so any questions can be directed towards me (on my talk page), #wikipedia-en-help , or via Template:Helpme. Thanks, Ks0stm If you reply here, please leave me a {{Talkback}} message on my talk page. 17:20, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
- What's the tag code for said template? - Areaseven (talk) 00:20, 25 June 2010 (UTC)
- It is explained in Misplaced Pages:Non-free use rationale guideline, but to be honest, it is usually easier to find another, similar image and see how they did it. For example, File:Ultramagnus-universe3.jpg, File:Armada-thundercracker-zapmaster.jpg. Note, you will need to use a {{Non-free 3D art}} thingy and a {{Non-free use rationale}}. Hope that helps; if you need more help with it, put a {{helpme}} on this page, or talk to us live, with this. Chzz ► 15:00, 25 June 2010 (UTC)

Hey Areaseven
I'm sending you this because you've made quite a few edits to the template namespace in the past couple of months. If I've got this wrong, or if I haven't but you're not interested in my request, don't worry; this is the only notice I'm sending out on the subject :).
So, as you know (or should know - we sent out a centralnotice and several watchlist notices) we're planning to deploy the VisualEditor on Monday, 1 July, as the default editor.
The thing that generates the human-readable names and descriptions is a small JSON data structure, loaded through an extension called TemplateData. I'm reaching out to you in the hopes that you'd be willing and able to put some time into adding TemplateData to high-profile templates. It's pretty easy to understand (heck, if I can write it, anyone can) and you can find a guide here, along with a list of prominent templates, although I suspect we can all hazard a guess as to high-profile templates that would benefit from this. Hopefully you're willing to give it a try; the more TemplateData sections get added, the better the interface can be. If you run into any problems, drop a note on the Feedback page.

Jajadelera
It's good to see that Jajadelera is once again trying to remove the blocknotices and warnings on User talk:124.6.181.60 because it shows that our blocks (including a probable range block on his normal range of IP addresses) are hitting him and preventing him from editing/vandalising WP. Thomas.W 09:25, 6 July 2013 (UTC)
- Yeah, but for him to stay in one IP address is very uncharacteristic of him. Something's not right. - Areaseven (talk) 09:26, 6 July 2013 (UTC)
- I have atleast a couple of hundred car related articles on my watchlist (out of almost 2,000 articles on the list...), including what I believe is every article Jajadelera has vandalised so far, so his chances for evading detection are very slim. Even if he gets a new range of IPs to operate from. Thomas.W 09:40, 6 July 2013 (UTC)
- Do you think it's advisable to create a Long-term abuse report on him, or is it too early? Also, based on his numerous Facebook pages, he may have a legitimate mental issue (possibly autism, like Bertrand101?). - Areaseven (talk) 10:09, 6 July 2013 (UTC)
- I would probably wait a bit before making a long term abuse report, and I wouldn't speculate about mental issues since we know very little, if anything, about him as a person. In theory atleast the Jajadelera on Facebook could be a totally different person. All we know is that "our" Jajadelera has an obnoxious habit of vandalising Misplaced Pages. Thomas.W 10:16, 6 July 2013 (UTC)
- Nope, it's the same guy. All of Jajadelera's Facebook pages have nothing but bus pictures. - Areaseven (talk) 10:48, 6 July 2013 (UTC)
- You shouldn't speculate too much about that, even though it seems very probable. Until Jajadelera hemiself clearly admits on Misplaced Pages to being the guy on Facebook we have to treat them as separate individuals, otherwise we might violate the rules about outing. Rules that clearly state that posting someone's contact information, whether any such information is accurate or not, is harassment. And Facebook pages will most probably be seen as contact information. Just a piece of friendly advice. Thomas.W 11:17, 6 July 2013 (UTC)
- I don't think he needs to admit to anything. Just look at the pages below. - Areaseven (talk) 11:26, 6 July 2013 (UTC)

Jajadelera socks
Hello. Please don't add a "suspected sockpuppet" tag to Jajadelera socks before each sock has been blocked. I deliberately never do it, because it only makes Jajadelera discard his socks and create new ones. It's better to have him believe that he hasn't been detected yet, both because he creates fewer socks then and because continued edits provide more evidence for the SPIs. His latest sock, User:AvangeJD seems to have already been discarded by him after seeing the tag. Thomas.W 14:09, 31 August 2013 (UTC)
- Maybe, but he'll know that his edits are being reverted every time he logs in via the Notifications counter. So regardless of whether or not his sock has been tagged, he's well aware that we're watching him - Areaseven (talk) 15:24, 31 August 2013 (UTC)
- Being reverted is not the same as being revealed as a sock, the former is just a temporary setback while the latter means an indefinite block. Thomas.W 15:26, 31 August 2013 (UTC)

FYI
Hello Areaseven. I noticed that you were placing "related users" info on various IP talk pages. I think that is useful. Some of those IPs are related to this list User:MarnetteD/Burton-on-Trent Vandal that I started a couple years ago. Now this might not be the same person that you are tracking but I thought I would let you know about it just in case. Thanks for your efforts and vigilance. Cheers. - I've been using that format for years, but at this point, I think we should open a sockpuppet investigation. - Areaseven (talk) 23:19, 6 May 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for the reply. While I have filed a few reports over the years I haven't dealt with one that is solely populated by IPs. This editor goes back so far that I don't know how we would find a starting point. You might ask the editor who got Misplaced Pages:Long-term abuse/Voice Cast Vandal going. OTOH if you know what you want to do please proceed. You can always point to the page I started to help explain to admins just how long this has been going on. Best regards. MarnetteD | Talk 00:22, 7 May 2014 (UTC)
- His most recent IP has been blocked for 1 day. We'll use this SPI just in case he strikes again. Also, we should collaborate with Soangry on nailing this vandal. - Areaseven (talk) 01:44, 7 May 2014 (UTC)
- Many thanks. I am glad to have the link to the SPI. I either missed it or forgot about it so it is great to be able to refer to it. Cheers. MarnetteD | Talk 02:27, 7 May 2014 (UTC)

ArbCom elections are now open!
Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Misplaced Pages arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Location of IP addresses by the LTA
However, I've noticed that User:Zzuuzz has blocked one of the IP addresses giving the reason "blocked proxy", another thing I don't know about. Iggy (Swan) 20:24, 17 September 2018 (UTC)
- Yes, MRY has been occasionally using open proxies for the last few weeks. Open proxies are IP addresses which can be used by anyone in the world. There's no indication they've moved - they're still editing from their home ranges. -- zzuuzz 20:37, 17 September 2018 (UTC)
- I agree with User:Zzuuzz about the open proxy theory. I also suspect that MRY is autistic or has a condition within the autism spectrum, as I faced a similar case years ago. - Areaseven (talk) 02:58, 18 September 2018 (UTC)

Your request for Page Protection
Hi, Areaseven! I see that you still dealing with that prolific sockmaster My Royal Young. Today you placed a request at Requests for page protection that I don't understand. I have declined it there, and let's figure it out here. Your request was to full-protect a redirect, Evan Pettiwhisker Tildrum. As far as I can tell, you created that redirect yourself yesterday. (A few days earlier it had been created as a vandalism page by one of the sock accounts and had been speedy deleted.) I don't understand why you created it, or why you are asking for it to be protected. If you are concerned that the troll might use that title (one of his favorites), let's get the page deleted (you can tag it with {{Db-g7}} since you are the only author), and then we can create-protect it so it can't be used again. Ping me and let's figure out what to do about this. Wouldn't it be nice if that jerk would get another hobby? -- MelanieN (talk) 00:16, 1 August 2019 (UTC)
- I made it a redirect, as it is the name of a character in the game. What I wanted was the redirect to be protected to prevent My Royal Young from vandalizing it. - Areaseven (talk) 02:32, 1 August 2019 (UTC)
- OK, that makes sense. I will full-protect it. -- MelanieN (talk) 16:01, 1 August 2019 (UTC)

Static IP tagging of User talk:101.164.19.58
Hi Areaseven! I noticed that you tagged the user talk page of 101.164.19.58 as a static IP address. I was curious and wondering... how did you locate and verify this information, and that the IP address is, indeed, static? If you could point me to the resources or documentation, or show me how you did this, I'd greatly appreciate it. I've been meaning to gain some additional tools and knowledge when it comes to IP users and identifying information about them (such as IP address type, whether or not its an open proxy, and other such things), and this would be a big help! :-) (Please ping me in your response so that I'm notified) Thanks! ~Oshwah~ 10:19, 27 February 2020 (UTC)
- I use What Is My IP Address and Google Maps. - Areaseven (talk) 10:21, 27 February 2020 (UTC)
- Interesting. I tested my own IP on whatismyip a bit ago, and it said that my assignment is "likely static". That's not true at all; my IP is totally not static at all... lol. Hence, I dismissed the information that whatismyip gave as unreliable. Really, Google Maps? How exactly does that help you determine if an IP is static vs dynamic? ~Oshwah~ 10:27, 27 February 2020 (UTC)
- Yeah, it's not 100% accurate (especially if the user is on a VPN), but it's useful for recording vandals who use multiple IP addresses. Once the website pulls up all vital information, I take the latitude and longitude info to Google Maps to get an approximate location. - Areaseven (talk) 10:36, 27 February 2020 (UTC)

Tagging sockmasters
Hi Areaseven, I'm a trainee sockpuppet investigations clerk and I reviewed Misplaced Pages:Sockpuppet investigations/FAFFG Gaming. I noticed that you tagged the sockmaster's userpage with a sockmaster tag. In the future, would you mind commenting on the case page if you think an account hasn't been tagged correctly rather than doing it yourself? In this case, sockmasters who are only temporarily blocked usually are not tagged as sockmasters. If you have any questions, I am happy to answer them. creffett (talk) 01:14, 26 May 2020 (UTC)
- Hi Areaseven, I have just noticed your last report at WP:AIV regarding FAFFG Gaming (talk · contribs); I am not sure if you are aware of these past sockpuppet investigations: Misplaced Pages:Sockpuppet investigations/Daniel Fatahillah Abrori/Archive, you will find some resembling usernames throughout that page. I could also find some one-edit accounts which are not blocked, e.g. Fatahillah Abrori FF (talk · contribs), Fatahillah Abrori Gene Film WTC (talk · contribs), Fatahillah Free Fire (talk · contribs) and Fatahillah Gaming Daniel (talk · contribs). Music of Spy × Family
Lunar-akaunto

new nascar merging idea?
Hello Areaseven! I've been planning on merging the 2 Richmond races together, and I just randomly had this idea of merging articles together. (maybe I should @GhostOfDanGurney, as I told him about this too)
What I was thinking about is we merge them together but keep it it's own seperate category (if you know what I mean), what I basically am trying to say we keep the content as is, we just make them together so it'll be easier to manage and all, I tried it out in my sandbox, maybe take a look! (if we don't like it, that's cool too, I just thought it would be a cool idea) 45BearsFan (talk) 19:12, 15 November 2024 (UTC)
- No, it doesn't work that way. Other track such as Michigan, Pocono, and Texas used to have two races, so for historical reasons, we retain the defunct second race. - Areaseven (talk) 13:10, 16 November 2024 (UTC)

Question about nomination for administratorship
Hello, Areaseven. I am pleased to see your contributions to the fields of anime, films, music, and racing. You are diligent at revising pages, reverting edits, checking facts, and citing sources. With that, and especially your interest and knowledge of anime in mind, I had considered nominating you and Xexerss for administratorship, but per Misplaced Pages policy, I would like to know if you are comfortable with me doing so. Thank you. Z. Patterson (talk) 20:37, 7 December 2024 (UTC)
- That sounds cool. Thanks for the nomination - Areaseven (talk) 20:54, 7 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Areaseven, you are welcome. Please see Misplaced Pages:Requests for adminship/Areaseven. I wish you the best. Z. Patterson (talk) 23:44, 8 December 2024 (UTC)
- Z Patterson launched your RFA without your having accepted it. I reverted, in case it was made without your consent. If it has your consent, please accept the nomination before it's transcluded onto the WP:RFA page.
- FWIW it may not be a good idea to have an RFA nom who is less experienced than you. Levivich (talk) 18:52, 21 December 2024 (UTC)
- Areaseven, please add your acceptance so that someone can revert Levivich's untransclusion of the RfA. I think a question to you here about whether you were ready for the RfA to go live would have been a better idea, but we're here now; the clock's running and people are voting, but it's not on the main WP:RFA page or findable from it. If Z. Patterson jumped the gun and you weren't ready, a bureaucrat can presumably freeze the clock. Yngvadottir (talk) 19:18, 21 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Areaseven: You were not required to accept the nomination and I would urge you to reconsider your acceptance. This RfA will likely end quickly with a WP:NOTNOW close. The fact that your answers to the standard questions are one or two sentences long is probably disqualifying for 99% of editors. voorts (talk/contributions) 01:42, 22 December 2024 (UTC)
- I didn't know a 500-word essay was required for the answers. Areaseven (talk) 01:44, 22 December 2024 (UTC)
- They don't need to be 500 word essays, but they need to be specific, as discussed in WP:GRFA. For example, the answer to the first question should state how you would use the tools and the answer to the third should describe a specific conflict and how you dealt with it. voorts (talk/contributions) 01:51, 22 December 2024 (UTC)
- If you effectively do not know the expectations upon RFA candidates, that is not in itself disqualifying – nothing really is – but suggestive of a lack of familiarity with community expectations. In those circumstances, you are likely to be unsuccessful at RFA. Your truculent response to voorts also suggests a temperament not suited to holding the sysop tools: see WP:ADMINACCT. That too lessens your chances. I'd also just like to explain something – Z Patterson has nominated you but they have a poor grasp of the expectations, as shown by their prematurely transcluding your RFA. You are receiving feedback from me and others because we are keen to help you avoid going to RFA too soon. Going to RFA and receiving a rejection, or even a difficult time, can be disheartening and upsetting. Nobody's trying to be mean about it. arcticocean ■ 14:43, 22 December 2024 (UTC)
- I've come to the realization that adminship is really not for me. Better to have my nomination retracted. Thanks, anyway. - Areaseven (talk) 14:49, 22 December 2024 (UTC)
- You have very good content creation and anti-vandalism experience and have been a net positive to the project. You could well make a good admin and have a use for the tools, but RFAs can be hostile and have driven editors away in the past. A good thing to do would be to look at some older RFAs and maybe join in and !vote on some to understand the process before jumping in. This current one is extremely positive (so far) on the other end you have MB's RFA that caused them to quit. In the meantime keep up the good work. KylieTastic (talk) 15:23, 22 December 2024 (UTC)
