The DD DIRECT+ platform carries 33 free-to-air channels and is likely to include more channels in the future. The satellite ] for uplink of signals is in Delhi. ] is the high power ] satellite hosting the DD DTH services.


Currently, DD Free Dish has 177 television channels, among which 94 channels are in MPEG-2 format and 83 channels in MPEG-4 format. In a bid to strengthen Doordarshan's Direct-to-Home (DTH) service, the Centre has decided to increase the number of TV channels on DD direct plus to fifty, from the existing thirty-three. Minister of Information and Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs, P. R. Dasmunsi sated in the Lok Sabha on Friday that the equipment needed for expansion of Doordarshan's DTH service was being procured, and would be installed by mid-2006.
