==Premise==
The show aired on ] in Canada from October 25, 2008, to June 4, 2011. It ran for a total of two seasons and 52 episodes.
When 10-year-old Coop Burtonburger's spoiled 8-year-old sister Millie brings home a strange 7-year-old stray cat named Mr. Kat, his idyllic life shatters as he discovers that the cat is actually a conniving, evil alien mastermind called a Catnipian, also known as a Kat Nebulan, a species of aliens resembling ]s from the planet Kat Nebula with a fanatical hate for mankind and an unassumingly sinister goal. The two battle daily as Coop tries to warn others of Mr. Kat's evil, only to find his evidence destroyed by him and deemed a fool. The only one who believes Coop is his best friend Dennis, who often aids him in fighting Kat; they are later joined by Fiona, Coop's love interest, in the second season. The first season introduced the characters of the series; Coop, Kat, Millie, Burt, Old Lady Munsion, and Dennis. At the start of the season, "Let The Games Begin/Night of the Zombie Kat", Coop's sister Millie brings home Kat. During the course of the season, Coop gets into all sorts of trouble while trying to prove Kat's true identity. Coop and Kat set a temporary truce at the end of the season in the episode "Kid vs. Kat vs. Christmas".

Coop is a 10 year old boy who thinks Kat is evil from the first time they ever met. He tries to stay out of trouble, but is often humiliated and injured when trying to prove Kat's true identity. He gets the blame for everything Kat ruins in the house. Coop sometimes thinks Mr. Kat's plan is to take over the world, but Mr. Kat's plans are to collect Fishy frisky bits and return to his home planet in outer space. Coop may have misunderstood Mr. Kat most of the time. He always jumps to conclusions without knowing all the facts, due to the fact that he never takes chances and never bothers talking to Kat about the situation instead of fighting him. The irony about Coop is that he always comes up with plans to get rid of Kat, which only cause Kat to stay. Coop's father, Mr. Burtonburger and Coop's sister Millie think that Coop is insane for thinking that Kat is an evil alien. Dennis (Coop's best friend), Fiona (Coop's girlfriend), and his Grandpa & Grandma believe him. The Burtonburger's neighbor, Old Lady Munson, hates Coop, but favours Millie. Coop has brown hair and blue eyes. Nobody knows what happened to Coop and Millie's mom who could either be deceased or divorced. Together, he and his friends are fans of Captain Blasteroid. In episode "Something about Fiona" Coop develops a crush on Old Lady Munson's niece Fiona, who is revealed to also know Mr. Kat's identity, and also loves Coop back. But during the episode "Kat To The Future Part 2" Coop travels to the past and stops Millie from ever finding Kat.
When Coop returns to the future he found out that Kat's actual mission was conquering the Earth for other cats and becoming a hero. He remained one of the protagonists throughout the entire series.

Millie is Coop's younger sister; a spoiled and bratty girl and the "owner" of Kat, whom she loves very deeply. Mr. Burtonburger, her father, always does whatever Millie says, mainly because she throws extreme tantrums when she fails to get her way. Because she can easily manipulate people into giving her what she wants, her talent earns her the neighborhood nickname "The Master Manipulator". Like several characters, she usually blames Coop for everything that happens. Millie has long, dark blue hair tied up in a ponytail with a magenta-colored bow, freckles and buck teeth, and wears red-framed eyeglasses. She is a "Greeny Girl" a parody of the Girl Scouts. Millie's hair goes down to her feet. She and Coop rarely get along. In "Tickled Pink", she and Coop finally got along, though Coop was only doing that to protect from Kat, besides, at the end, they revert to their old ways. However, in the new Kid Vs. Kat episode "Mind Games", Millie expressed an interest in playing with Coop, at the point where she accidentally gets "telepathic powers" from one of Kat's inventions, and uses that to force Coop to be with her, even when Coop tried to run away to stop Kat. At the end of the episode her telepathic powers were gone, and both Coop and Kat were relieved, but Millie states sadly that all she wanted was for Coop to play with her. Seeing how sad Millie is, Coop agrees to spend time with her this time, and with a reluctant Kat joining in. Mille is only person liked by Old Lady Munson. In the episode The Kat Went Back Mille understood that Kat was an alien. But on the same episode when she was talking with Lorne and Horley, Kat used a raygun which brainwashed Mille, Lorne and Horley minds to forget that Kat was an alien.

Burt seems to hate that Coop is pulling his leg too much with jokes and gags. His wife is never seen or mentioned in the series.

Are the "friends" of Coop and Dennis, they called Coop cat boy since Kat appeared in his life. They always have a tape recorder to record a hand-made horror films themselves, but always recorded at Coop when doing something ridiculous or blame on Kat and doing crazy things caused by Kat, humbled. In the episode "Suddenly Last Slammer," they discover a plan of Kat and managed to record it. They have a pet chicken named Cachaitore.

During the Season 2 finale, Kat is hunted down by his home planet for failing a mission to transport the Kat army to earth, thanks to Coop, Fiona, Dennis, and not knowingly, Lorne and Harley when the robots sent by Kat's home planet arrive to hunt him down he tricks them into capturing a dummy (Kat) made by the true Kat, but at the same time Millie appears looking for Kat and Coop. Fiona and Dennis arrive looking to stop the robots (thinking Kat made them) Lorne and Harley also arrive by mistake and they are all captured by the robots. When Kat saw this he hopped on the robot to save Millie and was transported to his home planet where Coop and everyone else is imprisoned by the cat's Kat gets help from his girlfriend on his planet and breaks them out and admits to Millie that he is an alien. He then transports them home, but as the spaceship is taking off to bring them home, Coop throws him off but not before Kat viciously fights him. Kat is surrounded by guards, but to his surprise he is forgiven because he fought Coop and is sent back to fulfill his mission when he arrives he uses a special gun to blank the memories of Fiona, Millie, Lorne, and Harley so that they all forget Kat is an alien.

Cacciatore the mascot of Lorne and Harley, is a chicken, which first appeared in "You'll Be Show Sorry" where Kat knocked him out of the competition. Miss Brannigan is Coop's female math teacher. She is a young woman who appears in Coop's school. The closed captions for You Kat See Me spell her name Ms. Branigan when Burt says her name on the phone and later on. She has long blonde hair tied back into a pony tail by a purple thing, possibly a hair band or clip or scrunchee. Her eyebrows are dark blonde or maybe even brown, while Fiona's are black. She has blue eyes and facial freckles, like the blonde ponytail, also things which Fiona possesses, possibly indicating Coop and Dennis have similar aesthetic taste in women. The teacher's freckles are fewer though, 3 above her nose between her eyes, compared to Fiona who has 4 under each eye for 8 total. She has a small round nose like Coop and Millie (Burt's is larger and more oblong) while Fiona's is pointy. She has worn a dark red fully skirt (less pink skirt below) and possible an white T-Shirt inside. She first appeared in "Me-Oh Me-Oh Meow" when Coop was in school wearing Kat's Special collar on his leg in her class. In "Curse of Tutankitty's Tomb" her last name was revealed when she was touring the class with Burt in a museum.

He declared Coop as "Bootsville's Most Wanted" all because Kat was making Coop getting into trouble with Buck. After he was defeated by Coop and Dennis, he was arrested by the police for his recent crimes which are: destruction of private property, numerous traffic violations and throwing the Mayor of Bootsville in jail all because he didn't change the water in his pet's water bowl.

A space alien that resembles a ]. Mr. Kat is an evil cat who hates Coop. He is adopted by Coop's sister, Millie, as a stray cat. At first an annoyance to Coop, he soon becomes a sworn enemy for his being stranded on Earth. They always fight in the comforts of the Burtonburger home, and most often Coop is blamed for any misdeed (at the defense of Millie). However, at times he and Coop get along; in fact whenever trouble threatens both of them they work together, as revealed in "Just Me and Glue." Kat repeatedly tries to get home, only to be foiled by Coop. In "Nip/Duck" he turns out to be part cyborg. While annoyed by his 'owner' dressing him up, he later grows an attachment to her, to the point of acting like a real pet. In the episode "Pet Peeved", he constantly calls for Millie's attention at the start of the episode, then runs away because Millie had found a new playmate. In the episode "One Big, Happy Family," when Millie falls for a trap Mr. Kat had planted for Coop, Mr. Kat tries to save her, Millie is really the only one he likes. She is Kat's only friend on Earth as seen when she is in trouble, he always goes to save her like in "The Kat Went Back". Kat's main goal is often presented as simply trying to get home, although in one episode, "Fat Kat," it is revealed that he was sent to Earth to gather "Fishy Frisky Bits," a type of cat food he had developed an obsessed appetite for, and transport the substance back to his home world, the planet Catnip, where the promised title of hero would be waiting for him. It is also revealed that he has been doing a poor job of it so far. Another episode, a Christmas special, reveals how much he misses the family he left behind on his home planet. In the episode "Tickled pink" it is revealed that Kat has a weak spot that makes him forget about his mission. In the episode "Kat to the Future Part One and Part Two" Kat build a time machine then Coop uses Kat's time machine to go back to the past and stop Millie from bringing Kat home, but ends up altering the future for the worse of seen the world had been taken over by Kat. Coop tries to undo the Kat invasion so he has to go back to the past again, which he brought about by fooling with Kat's time machine. If it was not for Millie, Mr. Kat would have become evil and dominated earth for his own selfishness. In "Rebel with a Claw", he teams-up with Coop and Dennis to stop Mr. Kitten and return him back to the home planet. Kat also demonstrates holy power of "flying squirrel". This is seen in the episode "War versus Hamster". Coop and Kat often seem to be quite loathing and fighting each other as tendency; however, since the beginning of Season 2 to until now, Coop and Kat have slowly begun to move far away from their differences. He is the main antagonist of the series.

Dr. K is a Catnipian scientist that works for Kat Kommander. She is also Kat's girlfriend. Dr. K only appears once in season 1 when Kat is trying to send her romantic gifts in "The Kitty Vanishes". She is seen more often in season 2, first appearing in "Birthday Bashed" when Kat is trying to have a romantic evening with her. Her last appearance was in the season finale, where she helped Kat free the children and send them back home. It is shown in "Who's Haunting Who?" that she usually wears a simple white lab coat and is often seen carrying a clipboard. In "The Kat Went Back Part 1" it is revealed that Dr. K is the only Catnipian that speaks human language, and has a Russian accent while doing so. In the season finale, we see the affection between Kat and Dr. K when they kiss each other in front of the children and Dr. K runs off crying.

When the series was announced on February 19, 2007, Coop was originally created with a light blue T-shirt with a purple stripe. His design was later changed to a red T-shirt with an orange stripe. Coop's little sister, Millie, originally had light blue glasses, a purple bow in her dark blue hair, and a brown skirt. Her final design was later changed to a blue skirt, red glasses, and a pink bow in her hair. Coop's father, Burt, was originally created with grey glasses, but they were ultimately depicted as black glasses. The show was originally designed as a "Warner Bros-y" type show during it's stages of production.

Kid vs. Kat (stylized KiD vs KaT) is a Canadian animated television series that originally aired on YTV in Canada from October 25, 2008, until June 4, 2011. The series was created and co-directed by Rob Boutilier, developed and produced at Studio B Productions (a subsidiary of DHX Media, now WildBrain), in association with YTV and Jetix Europe (later rebranded as Disney XD for its second season) 52 episodes were produced.

Premise

When 10-year-old Coop Burtonburger's spoiled 8-year-old sister Millie brings home a strange 7-year-old stray cat named Mr. Kat, his idyllic life shatters as he discovers that the cat is actually a conniving, evil alien mastermind called a Catnipian, also known as a Kat Nebulan, a species of aliens resembling Sphynx cats from the planet Kat Nebula with a fanatical hate for mankind and an unassumingly sinister goal. The two battle daily as Coop tries to warn others of Mr. Kat's evil, only to find his evidence destroyed by him and deemed a fool. The only one who believes Coop is his best friend Dennis, who often aids him in fighting Kat; they are later joined by Fiona, Coop's love interest, in the second season. The series is set in the fictional town of Bootsville, British Columbia.

Development

The series' pilot was first shown off at MIPCOM Jr. in 2006, and the series was officially revealed under the title Look What My Sister Dragged In in February 2007, where Studio B signed a development deal with YTV for the series. The series' production was started in January 2008, and it is animated in Flash. Animation services were taken place at Feitong Cartoon Graphics Services, while layout and background services were taken place at Top Draw Animation.

On February 12, 2008, after purchasing Studio B Productions, their new owner DHX Media announced they had licensed out the TV, home video, and consumer product rights for the series to Jetix Europe in areas where the company operated Jetix channels, while Disney-ABC International Television would handle TV distribution in these territories. DHX's then-TV distributor Decode Enterprises would handle television, home entertainment, and merchandising and licensing rights for the rest of the world.

On April 15, 2008, the series was pre-sold by Decode to air on Toon Disney's Jetix block in the United States.

On October 19, 2009, DHX announced that the series had been renewed for a second season. By then, the series had been airing on over 10 Disney XD channels around the world. It was also announced that the series had been pre-sold to additional broadcasters including Vrak in Canada, ABC in Australia, Disney XD Latin America, Disney XD India, Disney XD Japan, Cartoon Network South Korea and Nickelodeon Southeast Asia. On August 10, 2010, DHX announced that TV Azteca in Mexico and ECTV in Ecuador had pre-sold the series for free TV in Latin America. The series would later move to other channels including Disney Channel Asia, Disney XD Asia, Disney Channel Japan, and Disney Channel India.

Cancellation

On August 19, 2011, Rob Boutilier announced via Facebook that the series wasn't renewed for a third season as he lacked the rights to make further episodes. Although, in 2017, he revealed that Coop and Kat became friends after the events of the series.

Telecast and home media

Kid vs. Kat premiered on YTV on October 25, 2008, in Canada. It aired on Saturdays at 8:30 AM as part of YTV's Crunch block (with repeats until mid-2010s). In the U.S., the show first aired on Disney XD on February 21, 2009, at 9:00 AM (with repeats until June 6, 2014). There is no official DVD release. As of 2022, the show is now streaming on Pluto TV. The show is also on Tubi as well, but with season 2 episodes available only, though.

Reception
