==Accusations against Michael Jackson and settlement==

In 1993, Chandler accused pop star ] of ] Chandler's son Jordan after his son told him of the allegations while under the influence of ] during a dental procedure. At the time, Chandler was in the midst of a custody battle for the boy with his ex-wife, June Chandler-Schwartz. The 1993 molestation case ended after Jackson reached a settlement with Chandler for a reported U.S. $22 million,<ref name="1993 allegations">{{cite news |url=http://news.bbc.co.uk/onthisday/hi/dates/stories/august/24/newsid_2512000/2512077.stm |title=1993: Michael Jackson accused of child abuse |date=February 8, 2003|publisher=BBC |accessdate=November 11, 2006}}</ref><ref name="NYTimes">{{cite news |first=Jon |last=Pareles |url=https://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=990CE0DD123DF93BA25755C0A963958260&scp=4&sq=HIStory+album+michael+jackson+review&st=nyt |title=POP VIEW; Michael Jackson Is Angry, Understand? |accessdate=March 24, 2008 |date=June 18, 1995 |work=The New York Times }}</ref> although this amount was never confirmed by Jackson and no formal charges were brought after two independent grand juries decided not to indict him.<ref name="sbdisbanded">{{cite web|url=http://site2.mjeol.com/pdf/important-article/jackson-grand-jury-disbanded-1994.pdf |title=Jackson Grand Jury Disbanded – 1994. |work=Showbiz Today |publisher=CNN |date=May 2, 1994 |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20110714103125/http://site2.mjeol.com/pdf/important-article/jackson-grand-jury-disbanded-1994.pdf |archivedate=July 14, 2011 |url-status=dead}}</ref><ref name="ind jcase">{{cite news|title=Jackson Case|url=https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/jackson-case-1433170.html|newspaper=]|date=1994-05-02|location=London| accessdate= May 1, 2011 }}</ref>Jackson categorically denied any sexual misconduct in the settlement papers.{{cn|date=March 2019}}

During the 1993 investigation, Jackson hired private investigator ] and released a recorded telephone conversation between Chandler and Dave Schwartz, the new husband of his ex-wife, June, and stepfather to Jordan. Jackson's defense cited this tape as proof that Chandler's allegations were nothing but an attempt to extort money from the star and regain custody of Jordan, especially considering Chandler was more than $60,000 behind child support payments and had already approached Jackson several times asking for money. Chandler was recorded saying, "If I go through with this, I win big time. There's no way that I lose. I've checked that out inside out...I will get everything I want, and they will be totally — they will be destroyed forever. They will be destroyed. June is gonna lose Jordy. She will have no right to ever see him again." This phone call took place on July 8; Evan would claim Jordan had confessed the abuse to him on July 16.<ref>{{cite book |last=Fischer |first=Mary |isbn=978-0786754137 |date=2012 |title=Was Michael Jackson Framed?: The Untold Story That Brought Down a Superstar }}</ref>

Following the settlement, Chandler had multiple plastic surgeries to mask his identity as he claimed abuse and harassment from angry Jackson fans.<ref>{{cite news|url=http://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/father_of_jacko_molestation_accuser_kek0TWE1fPywMMyQnIAxWP |title=Father of Jacko molestation accuser kills self in NJ |work=New York Post |date=2009-11-18 |accessdate=2012-10-27 | first=Tim | last=Perone |location=New York}}</ref>

According to a '']'' article written by journalist DeWayne Wickham, in 1996, Chandler attempted to sue Jackson a second time, citing the star's '']'' album as a breach of their confidentiality agreement.

It is also believed{{By whom|date=December 2013}} he is the ghostwriter of ''All that Glitters'', a book about the allegations written by his brother Raymond that was released in 2004 following a new set of molestation accusations against Jackson.

It was revealed by June Chandler-Schwartz during Jackson's 2005 trial that her son, who, according to his uncle, fled the country to avoid testifying against Jackson, had filed for legal emancipation from his parents and had no contact with his mother since 1994.<ref name="CBS June Chandler">{{cite news|title=CBS June Chandler |url=http://www.cbsnews.com/2316-100_162-677925-28.html |work=CBS June Chandler |publisher=CBS News |accessdate=November 6, 2011 |url-status=dead |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20100719181544/http://www.cbsnews.com/2316-100_162-677925-28.html |archivedate=July 19, 2010 }}</ref><ref name="June Chandler Testimony">{{cite web|title=June Chandler Testimony|url=http://deargavinarvizo.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/June-Chandler-Testimony.txt|work=June Chandler Testimony|access-date=October 31, 2012|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20111205133642/http://deargavinarvizo.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/June-Chandler-Testimony.txt|archive-date=December 5, 2011|url-status=dead}}</ref> In 2006, court documents filed in the state of New Jersey revealed that Evan Chandler was sued by Jordan after he nearly killed him with a ] and ] in August 2005.<ref>{{cite news|url=http://www.nydailynews.com/gossip/2009/11/18/2009-11-18_dad_of_jacko_molest_accuser_kills_self_in_swanky_jersey_pad.html |title=Evan Chandler, dad of boy who accused Michael Jackson of molestation, commits suicide in New Jersey |work=NYDailyNews.com |date=2009-11-18 |accessdate=2010-06-25 | first=Bill | last=Hutchinson |location=New York}}</ref> Jordan obtained a permanent restraining order against his father as a result.<ref>{{cite web |url=https://nypost.com/2009/11/18/jacko-molest-rap-dad-kills-himself/ |title=Jacko molest-rap dad kills himself |last=Perone |first=Tim |date=November 18, 2009 |publisher=] |access-date=April 8, 2019 }}</ref>
