Editnotice about keeping this page simple/streamlining

Following the discussion at Misplaced Pages talk:Help Project#New editnotice to help fight WP:CREEP, an editnotice has been added to a bunch of help pages targeted specifically at newcomers. This notice, which appears above the editing box (not to people just reading the page normally), will hopefully help prevent WP:CREEP. This page is one of the more bloated pages on Misplaced Pages (it needs some TNT at this point, really), so I think it could benefit from the notice as well; would others agree? {{u|Sdkb}}  17:39, 12 July 2020 (UTC)

I tried adding three decorative images, which were removed by Moxy. I won't argue the reversion since I don't feel like having to explain why this page isn't Misplaced Pages and therefore doesn't need to go by MOS:IMAGEREL, but I do want to plop them here for the record, since we'll need to do a fundamental redesign of this page at some point and these files might be useful when we do. {{u|Sdkb}}  07:06, 23 December 2020 (UTC)

Renewing videos

Yes. I mean, its just old at first. The video contents should be remolded, as the main page is now COMPLETELY different from what was yeas back. So, please remake them.

Opening sentence

"Misplaced Pages is an online free content encyclopedia project helping to create a world in which everyone can freely share in the sum of all knowledge."

Hmm, sounds like a load of marketing wank and not the introduction to a worthwhile encyclopedia article. MinorProphet (talk) 03:49, 26 January 2022 (UTC)

I've suggested this revision—which seems a bit more accurate, fixes a bit of punctuation ("free-content" is an adjective here), and may be sufficiently less vainglorious (😉) :

Misplaced Pages is an online free-content encyclopedia helping to create a world where everyone can freely share and access knowledge.

Project links?

In the Exploration section (at " Related projects include..."), I've added embedded links to each described WF project except:

• "manuals" (couldn't find—does it still exist?)
• "scientific reference sources" (does it refer to Wikisource, which is much more general?)

Redesigning the About page

India subsection

The subsection on India mentions two residential universities and makes no mention of residential colleges. One is unreferenced while the other has two references, which again make no mention of residential colleges at this university. @User4edits: had stated that "The residential university BHU is a collegiate university which has hostels per colleges" but this is not currently supported by reliable references (the existence of a Misplaced Pages template is not a reliable reference). There does not seem to be any evidence on the university's website or referenced from its Misplaced Pages article that the hostels are colleges rather than halls of residence. I have therefore placed an "off topic" tag on this section. If this section cannot be brought on topic with (preferably independent) references allowing a discussion of residential colleges in Indian universities, it should be deleted.
