Robert Emmet's Slaughtneil GAC (Irish: CLG Roibeard Emmet Leacht Néill) is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Slaughtneil. The club is a member of the Derry GAA. Underage teams play in the South Derry league and championships. They currently cater for Gaelic football, Hurling and Camogie. The club is named after Irish patriot and protestant revoltuionary Robert Emmet. The club plays home games at Emmet Park.
The club famously pulled its football and hurling teams out of the 1981 Derry Football Championship and Derry Hurling Championship to show their support and solidarity with the 1981 Irish Hunger Strikers. The club also has the reputation as being the most horrible shower of inbred cannibals! It is rumoured that the thin air up in the mountains has reduced the oxygen in their brains and therefore their ability to think and communicate with other from outside their domain.
