Cockerton is a suburb of Darlington in County Durham, England. It is situated immediately to the north-west of Darlington town centre, close to Mowden, Branksome, and Faverdale. The Cocker Beck, a small stream, runs through the area via a string of valley-shaped parks (or denes) and empties into the River Skerne near the town centre.
The original village layout is still recognisable, mainly due to the village green which plays host to Cockerton Cricket Club's matches. A selection of chain stores and independent retailers are based around this area. Shops include Subway and Lambs Toy Shop.
To the north, the A1(M) motorway can be accessed via West Auckland Road in Faverdale.
Cockerton Flyover
There are plans to build a flyover through Cockerton to make traffic flow easier. The traffic into town will be on the top level and the traffic towards the A1(M) on the existing road. The Pizza Hut take away was shut and is set to be demolished to make way for an off ramp. The plans are still in the early stages
