This is often not a reflection on the user, and you are encouraged to choose a new account name which does meet our guidelines and are invited to contribute to Misplaced Pages under an appropriate username. If you feel this block was made in error, you may quickly and easily appeal it - see below.

Our username policy provides guidance on selecting your username. In brief, usernames should not be offensive, disruptive, promotional, related to a 'real-world' group or organization, or misleading. Also, usernames may not end with the string "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account.

If you have already made edits and wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name you may request a change in username. To do so, please follow these directions:

1. Add {{unblock-un|your new username here}} below. This is possible because even when you are blocked, you can still edit your own talk page.
2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
3. Please note, you may only request a name that is not already in use. The account is created upon acceptance – do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change since we can far easier allocate your new name to you, if it is not yet used. 4. In the alternative, you can "abandon" the contributions under this username and create a new account, which is much faster and easier.

Due to off-wiki concerns, I still cannot use this or any other account to edit; however, I see that the username change as is is unfortunately causing some confusion and discussion (see for example User_talk:The_Anome#User:B988a4299d07c0f61fbc8378965438f0) and I had really hoped that by now the good faith editors discussing there, for example, would need not worry about me any further. Thus, to avoid further confusion/discussion, I am requesting that this account simply be renamed as "A Nobody". Again, I am NOT requesting to be unvanished and I am NOT planning on starting up editing again. If someone is able to just do that without my formally filing the request as I believe someone else handled the previous name change, that works too as I am honestly not sure when this weekend I'll even have a chance to check back here. I just wish to have Ned's good faith concerns addressed so we can all move on. Thank you for your time and efforts and I hope that everyone has been well. --Happy editing! I'm sorry, what? If you don't plan to continue editing, there is little point in wasting server resources to rename you, especially since it took me all of five seconds to figure out who you used to be before I looked at the linked discussion. Hersfold 16:27, 26 September 2008 (UTC)
