Retro Duo is a game console that will play American, European and Japanese Nintendo and Super Nintendo games. Designed as an emulator to meet the needs of 8 and 16 bit NES/SNES Game Systems, it will allow use of many NES and SNES gaming cartridges. It is not licensed by Nintendo and is not 100% compatible with Nintendo games, even though almost all games work fine. While it has been released in Canada and USA, it can be used in Europe and Japan with a power plug adapter.
Reception
As Zach Rhoads reports, "The system costs under $49.99, which is less than 25% of what either the NES or Super NES cost when they came out, but it doesn’t come with any games. Still, you now have a chance to relive those epic Tecmo Bowl and Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out matches with your friends, or let your children experience the joy of completing Zelda and Earthbound in their original format." Jeff Sparkman refers to the console as "sorta like the nerd version of dating twins."
Compatibility issues
The following games are not compatible with Retro Duo:
PAL
- None yet
NTSC
- Super Mario RPG
