Peter Buttigieg is an American politician, businessman, and, as of June 26, 2010, the Democratic nominee for the office of Indiana State Treasurer.

He holds a first class honors degree in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics from Oxford, where he was a Rhodes Scholar, and a Bachelors in History and Literature from Harvard College, where he was student president of the Institute of Politics and led the Institute's annual study of youth attitudes on politics. A native of South Bend, Indiana and the valedictorian of St. Joseph's High School, he has worked on Capitol Hill, at NBC in Chicago, and in Congressional, Gubernatorial, and Presidential campaigns with a speciality in policy research and debate preparation. He also worked at The Cohen Group, an international strategic consulting firm in Washington. His commentary has appeared on NPR, Boston local television and radio, the International Herald Tribune, The Boston Globe, and The New York Times. He is the co-founder of the Democratic Renaissance Project, a fellow of the Truman National Security Project, and prior to his candidacy for State Treasurer, worked for McKinsey and Company, a top-flight management strategy consulting firm, where he specialized in energy and economic development strategy.
