The Dally in the Alley is Detroit's largest annual community festival. Offering live music, visual arts, performance, food and beer, "the Dally" is entirely organized and executed by a team of community volunteers. It takes place in the alleys of the Cass Corridor district (the north end, near Wayne State University) in Midtown Detroit, on the Saturday after Labor Day. Initially a small, anonymous neighborhood music and art fair, the Dally's inaugural year was 1977.
